Can we talk about Tommy's waist-long braids and how unsafe those were in the field? I can't imagine city/county paramedics are allowed to have hair below the neck. I know cops and firefighters aren't. Source: father was cop; ex-BIL was firefighter.

Spring Baking Championship - General Discussion

Christian doesn't know what "boho" means. -
I kept wondering the same thing. Her husband/Beth's father was remarkably calm when talking to the police, as was everyone else. Shouldn't they be hysterical? At least more than mildly bothered?

I'm pretty sure he's wearing a terrible wig or added hair piece in the front in the past timeline. There's not as much hairline recession as he has in real life. His hair in current timeline seems to be his real hair with some gray added. The cut looks pretty much like it does in the picture in this article about the show.

It's almost as if those who disagree with John Oliver can just not watch his show.

I was irritated because of having been the oldest of three daughters and always having to babysit. It started when I was NINE and my sisters were five and six. It's not the oldest kid'(s)' job to watch the younger kid(s); it the parent'(s)' job. What mother of three has mall pretzels money anyway? No, I don't have kids, mainly because of how I grew up...with a single mother.

Didn't she do exactly this, though? She was in therapy in Boston. Buck told Chimney that Maddie was OK, just not where she was. Buck was on the phone with Maddie at one point, and he heard a church bell or something in the background where Maddie was. That led Chimney to "finding" Maddie after being on the road for months with Jee because Chimney wouldn't accept Maddie needing time alone to work on her illness.
-
I must be a party of one, but Hen was wrong to be mad about Maddie at all. First, Maddie isn't her partner, so it's not her business. Second, while I've no doubt it was hard on Chimney to have Maddie "disappear" to leave him raising Jee alone (as if millions of single parents don't do that every day, but I digress), Maddie left Chimney a letter explaining her reasons for leaving. She was suffering from postpartum depression and didn't trust herself alone with Jee. PPD isn't a choice, and Maddie did what she thought was best for her child at the time. PPD is crippling, and for Chimney and Hen to act like Maddie skipped town with another man or something is insulting.

So Bob's mother gave birth to Bob when she was in her mid-to-late 30s. I guess I can accept that.😂 The amount of times my boyfriend tells me, "It's a CARTOON!"
-
As long as we're being pedantic, if Bob's mother was born in 1941, that would make her 82-83 now. My mother was born in 1949 and will be 74 this month. I was born in 1974 when she was 25; I'm 48 and the oldest of my mother's three daughters. How old are we thinking Bob and Linda are? I certainly don't see them as any older than 50, and that would mean Linda had Gene and Louise in her 40s.

He didn't "pick apart" Anheuser-Busch. He was lambasting them for coddling/pandering to the angry white men after they cried about AB sponsoring a trans woman. AB literally walked back their sponsorship by putting out that ridiculous sexy horse ad along with their social media message about "freedom, hard work and respect", among other white supremacist dog whistles.

Y'all are cracking me up. Because I can't stand Eddie and I barely tolerate Christoper (I hate all kids, not just him; don't throw tomatoes at me!), I'm hoping Eddie takes a permanent vacation to El Paso. Because I Know Too Much, when they checked the "dead" lady's eyes for pupil dilation, I knew she wasn't dead. Embalmed bodies generally have caps covering the eyeballs.

We both scream-laughed at the chest cave-in. But would that even happen? I mean, the chest isn't hollow. Rob Lowe grosses me out, and I don't want to see him shirtless in bed.

GROSS. Why is every other dude in "entertainment" complete trash?

Ohhhh, yeah. Him.

I kept saying, "That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works." The vagina isn't an opening to the rest of the organs, FFS.

S01.E01: We're Gonna Rule the School
bilgistic replied to paulvdb's topic in Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies
This started out super cringe but really grew on me as the episode progressed. I am a huge fan of both Grease and Grease 2, having watched them multiple times as a kid. My sisters and I attended a summer day care that showed the movies on a loop. This was the early 1980s, so imagine my surprise when I was old enough to understand all the not-so-subtle subtext and innuendos. We also "choreographed" dances to the Footloose soundtrack (I was 9-10), if that gives you additional insight into the structure of that day care. It was wildly fun. -
There was a scene last week in which Nancy was with Mateo eating breakfast when Owen walked into the kitchen. Like, cool, just your boss hanging out with you after you and your boyfriend banged. Why would Nancy ever stay there?!
-
I laughed so much at "laughter of the dead." Every time I watch an older movie or show with a pet in it, I think about how it's dead now. :( I got the identical cousins reference because I am 48, and I think I watched the show in syndication after school. So yeah, I don't expect most people to know what that goofy shit was about. And in that dream, Owen was married to Tommy? OK, I guess. Judd stomping around like his feelings were hurt was just stupid. He's so immature that he doesn't respond to his kid's texts, but he's going to "support" him and his girlfriend's baby? Sure.

And most of the part "under the sea" was brown, too. Because choux pastry puffs are brown when baked! -
Spring Baking Championship - General Discussion

The pronunciation of "macaron" was all over the place tonight.😩 Jesse said it at least three different ways. I'm tired of Nancy's completely arbitrary and changing definition of spring color. I guess brown and clear and white at night is fine if it's in outer space(??). The winning "arbor" looked like Christmas with red caramel, white flowers and green leaves, but no mention of that. The green and brown arbor was "fall". Whatever.- 3.2k replies

S14.E18: Lavabox; Bleni Blends; Happi Floss; Ice Cream Canteen
bilgistic replied to JTMacc99's topic in Shark Tank
The paper floss pick is huge, and there's no way I could use it to force floss in between my crowded teeth as it starts to soften with my saliva. There's already plastic made from corn—I bought party cups made with it YEARS ago—which would be the smarter sustainable material to use. -
We watched the first episode last night. I really liked it. I'm most interested in the foster girl's story. I was enraged at her foster "mother" turning on the radio to drown out what she knew were sounds of sexual abuse. I loved that the "father" got exactly what he deserved. If only every rapist and child abuser met that fate.

The Big Door Prize - General Discussion

Yeah, in no world would I put my SSN and fingerprints in a random video game. I don't even put my birthdate in the blood pressure machine at Walgreens. Someone said the market doesn't have WiFi. That doesn't matter. The machine could have a SIM card just like a phone and connect to a cellular network.
