S14.E15: Eat Your Flowers; Surf Band; YouthForia, Big Mouth
bilgistic replied to JTMacc99's topic in Shark Tank
I haven't worn blush since high school, and that was 30 years ago. I've watched enough baking competitions to know that edible flower decorations aren't new. She has to buy them somewhere, right? So you're paying for her packaging? $50 for six 12 cookies is absurd. -
Early in this goofy storyline, I couldn't remember what the Honor Dogs were called. I was calling them Raw Dogs, but I knew that wasn't right.

I just remembered that Jasper had CERAMICS CLASS this week! Between piano lessons, learning Mandarin, ceramics class, and tennis(?), that kid must be exhausted! -

The first sentence made me laugh and laugh. I couldn't believe how preposterous Ginny's "costume" was; she dresses in a weird robe over her dress every day. I get it's just the actress's face, and as the owner of a resting bitch face myself, I feel for her, but she always has a sour look. They were beating Dick (hahahahaha), who is Tory's husband. -

I thought it was Charlotte Ivey who was checking out at the same time as Ginny who was told "Have a good night, Ms. Chan," by the phone check woman. That must've been one of the many times I fell asleep.😂 -
The Watchful Eye - General Discussion

I fell asleep watching this episode and it took me about four more attempts to get through it. Where was the masquerade ball held? Didn't Charlotte Ivey said something about her philanthropic father? husband? raising funds to build it? Elena was glowering at her, so I'm assuming that is the building that was built on the ashes of the Salazar garage...??? Ginny told Elena that Tory caught her at the ball, but it was Charlotte. I'm super bothered that Roman had sex with Bennett. Isn't she 17/still in high school? I assume he's supposed to be in his early to mid-20s (the actor is 31; the actor playing Bennett is 20). Also, it's really bad decision making to sleep with a tenant in the building where you work. He's also a terrible snooper. Weird how Scott just happened to be at the ball and Elena's phone just happened to be stolen. I really hope she does break up with him for good. He's so gross. When are Matthew and Elena going to hook up already? -
I said this exact thing when I was watching the show last week. With the addition of the new guy, I definitely need names and descriptions of who they are and how they relate to the rest of the cast and storyline.

In two more years when she's 19, Leonardo DiCaprio will date her.🙃

Are you all me? Because we all have the same thoughts. I can sort of understand Edward's brother's girlfriend asking about the crash because she's a kid, but for Linda, an adult, to ask seems very not OK. No one is thinking about anyone but themselves, and it's exhausting. I really don't want Lacey to "miraculously" get pregnant as soon as she gives all her baby supplies to Linda. I keep yelling at DeeDee to SELL THE HOUSE! Stop busting holes in the walls! Even if it's a short sale, the bank will likely accept it. I know the money problems are worse than that, but stop dicking around and spending money! Sell the high-fashion clothes that are "last season", sell the house, sell it all and become a real estate agent or whatever. Damn!

Someone on Reddit mentioned that, too. At least they didn't have kids... -

Yes. I went down the rabbit hole last night and looked at TWE forum on Reddit. Someone theorized that Ms. Ivey (had to look up her name because I also couldn't remember it) is (spoiler-tagged because it's speculation) -

I had to look it up: Winthrop is Otis's last name. Yes, Tori (and Allie, RIP) is somehow a Graybourne. I don't remember how Elena's dad died. I'm surprised I've retained the info that I have so far. I remain bothered that Jasper is eight or nine but is treated like he's half his age. Why is he never in school, even homeschool? "Mandarin class" notwithstanding. -
Watching this week's episode, I was thinking how $5.95 is pretty cheap for a "nice" burger these days. A burger like Bob makes wouldn't be less than $9-10 around here.

Her uncle? father? someone in her family had a garage/auto shop that the Graybournes bought out for way less than it was worth to build "The Graybourne" (I think?) or somehow else stiffed him. His last name was Salazar (why I remember this but not algebra, I don't know) and Elena had the paperwork for the "sale". Elena's last name is...not Salazar. This show is so convoluted!😂 -

Scott's big reveal was just dumb. What purpose did it serve to have him keep his family connection from Elena other than audience "tension"? If this was in any way real, he would've told her because that would be all the more reason to try to get his hands on the supposed riches "due" to him. He's such a buffoon, and I don't understand at all why Elena would trust him. Elena can't DoorDash her cupcakes? -
This is such an odd take.

There are two of us! This season is...not great, but better than last season. Gabrielle Union is cracking me up playing a high school principal who is literally never performing any school-related duties. Everyone on this show is ACTING! and it's so over the top, and yet I still watch.

I'm irrationally bothered by Alice hanging out with Jimmy's coworkers, especially Paul. What teenager is voluntarily spending time with an 80-year-old to whom they aren't related?
-
What bothered me about the toothbrush thing was that it was more single-use plastic for $22. They could make the brush head changeable and the tube refillable and put people on 30-day refill subscriptions. Also, it looked like they spent a lot of money on premium packaging.

This show is laughably bad, and yet here I am. Midway through this episode, I announced that Elena's cop boyfriend was going to double cross her, and what do you know...he's Jasper's "mommy's friend!" How long until Tory finds that huge GPS tracker in the lining of her Birkin? It seems too convenient that there are cameras everywhere but in the basement where Elena's constantly snooping. And speaking of, she's assuming Tory replaced the innards of smoke detectors with cameras in her nephew's home? She cares more about spying than a potential fire? I don't know... What nine-year-old kid (8YO?) wants to be picked up and held by his dad and nanny? -
Stolen Youth: Inside The Cult At Sarah Lawrence (Hulu)

I have such mixed feelings about Isabella. On one hand, yes, she helped Larry victimize the others. On the other hand, she was targeted by Larry—her friend's father—at the same age as the others. She was just as brainwashed as they were...and maybe still remains under his thrall. This is why I have problems with people saying it's fine for young women at 18 to young 20s to date much older men "because it's legal." No. It's a power imbalance because we live in a patriarchal society. Again, I'm projecting because of being in a very abusive relationship when I was 20 with a deeply disturbed 29-year-old man. I sought out these kind of relationships with older men to fill the missing father-figure hole, and conversely, predators recognize prey.- 44 replies

Yeah, this made no sense to me at all. I couldn't figure out if the building was part of the school or off-campus apartments, but if it was part of the school, there'd be a resident advisor who would definitely hear about a 50-YEAR-OLD MAN living in the dorms. My freshman-year suitemate's boyfriend who didn't attend our college was constantly at our place. He got tickets for illegal parking (not having a student or visitor tag) all the time, so the school knew he was there. Granted, this was way back in 1993-1994. -

Talia didn't start it; her father did. He alone manipulated those kids, including his daughter. I can't imagine what growing up with him must've been like. I guess I'm biased because my biological father is a narcissist and pathological liar. I couldn't get past this from the very beginning: What "successful, influential businessman" moves into his daughter's college dorm? He snowed everyone, including a man who had enough money to own a Manhattan apartment that he himself didn't live in and also waited five years to evict Larry from! -
I still don't care about Edward, but I feel bad about it. I really don't care about the neighbor kid. The funeral was beautiful. I wept.
