  1. Who the heck was Matt D’Amico? Have they shown him at all this season? How did someone get to stage 3 after being mostly ignored by the show?
  2. On second watch, what at first was funny (objectifying Steve Rogers and speculating on his love life, or lack there of) really came off as totally hypocritical to me. After Jen stating that she is objectified by men, perhaps she should’ve just left Steve alone. I’d just love some consistency in the message here.
  3. Okay, okay. Good, but not great off the starting line. Had to set-up the origin so I’ll give it a pass that there wasn’t much happening in this episode. I’ll definitely stick with it, though. Interesting that this has more “adult” language than previous series (amongst Disney+ original ones at least).
  4. This, so much. We get a lot of the guy who tried to flip into spider jump but they WWWA’d other finishers. Just terrible.
  5. I get your point, but there’s always been some sort of circus atmosphere to Ninja Warrior back to the original Sasuke. Remember the guy that would always bring an octopus to the start with him? Lol The most serious contestants were no-nonsense about it and I do feel like that’s mostly true today. People like Lance, Jesse and Joe (and even to some extent the young contestants) keep it pretty serious without gimmicks. But yeah, there is that middle group that seems to out for the social media fame. That said, boring episode.
  6. Wikipedia says 8 finished: Nate Hansen, Austin Gray, Owen Dyer, Jody Avila, Christian Youst, Isaiah Wakeham, Mark Antioquia and Katie Bone. Some of those were WWWAs, though.
  7. Loved the Gretch and Edgar reunion! I’m just finding this show now and there’s a lot to like about it. The characters are well done (although Kelly is acted a tad broad imo) and the world is pretty robust. I can see it catching steam soon. I also don’t get how old Kelly and Shrub are, though. At first I thought it was like Pen15 where they just play kids but as adults. But they definitely reference being adults themselves so I have no idea. I’ll keep with it for a few more episodes though. Like Parks and Rec, I’m enjoying the side characters.
  8. As much as it sucks that she didn't get put on a full trial, considering her shenanigans during the previous ones, the prosecutor probably just wanted a sure conviction. Can you imagine if Pam had gotten a mistrial or gotten off on some technicality? Would've been worse than no trial at all.
  9. Anyone in the US that wants to watch the most recent New Year’s bake off, it’s posted on YouTube!
  10. Well they can’t all be winners, but I’ll stick with it and hope it gets better.
  11. I literally just watched that episode today too! I think maybe she just had both weekend bakes planned and when she got criticsm of being too simple on her breadsticks, she just couldn’t adjust her showstopper in time. You could see in that one scene how she was trying to rationalize such a simple loaf. I wonder if she would’ve even been able to change plans and practice another bake in time.
  12. Really enjoyed seeing these bakers again (some of my favorites). Everyone did a great job but Henry’s showstopper was absolutely beautiful. I just wasn’t excited about the look of Rahul’s but maybe it was more impressive in person. Overall, fun episode!
  13. Fun episode! Tom Allen is great on Extra Slice; not sure I liked him so much in this, but it was nice having a different energy in the tent for sure. Congrats to Rosie on her bakes! That Turkey cake did look amazing. I thought everyone not named Jamie did very well and it was great to see them again.
  14. Oh FFS! I’m upset they’re splitting up the set between the PBS and Netflix ones. Hopefully they’ll end up on Hulu or Prime.
  15. Mel and Sue were funny, joked with the contestants, and could be a little randy at times. But the difference was they were able to keep the focus on the bakers and not mug constantly for the cameras as Noel and Matt do.
  16. After a couple seasons of Noel and Matt, I’ve gone back to watch some of the seasons with Sandy. Have to admit, I like her much more now than on first watch. I think Matt just doesn’t work on the show. Sandy had a wonderful dry humor but also really could be sweet with the bakers. Matt seems to just want to get a rise or a randy comment out of the them. The “Sandy is short” jokes got lame really fast, but she tempered Noel’s personality a bit. Noel and Matt just feed off each other and not in a good way.
  17. I just had the image of Jürgen making a Grogu-shaped cake, pulling it out of the oven, and saying, “I would like to see the baby.” 🤣
  18. I think he just got lucky this week and last. There just happened to be someone who had a worse week than him.
  19. Welp, I called Maggie as a finalist in week 1. That prediction didn’t last long. Hope I didn’t jinx Jurgen or Giuseppe as well. Excited for Chigs as star baker. He is really growing on me. Seems like a sweetheart!
  20. It's always interesting to me how those with scientific, math, or engineering backgrounds seem to consistently do well on this show, but I guess the precision that baking requires really highlights that. Current picks for my final three are Jurgen, Giuseppe, and Maggie (who I think will kick it up a notch after this poor week).
  21. Two thoughts: 1. Ted Lasso (the person) has no obligation to become a spokesperson for mental health issues. It’s wonderful when high profile people step forward and help destigmatize mental health issues, but they have as much a right to say “no comment” as everyone else. And Ted is obviously new to this in his life, so understandably he’s just not comfortable talking about it to the wide community yet. 2. But I certainly HOPE Ted Lasso (the show) brings the character to the point of speaking up about it. People do look to shows for representation and if it could help bring others along on the journey from anxiety, to acceptance, to growth and awareness, that would be a wonderful thing.
  22. Fuck you, Nate. Better not be any redemption arc for you. That’s all I have to say.
  23. Great season! Fun contestants, some classic Riggle schtick (Blake Sledge!), interesting and challenging holes, and a deserving winner. And they made an announcement about season 4. Can’t wait!
  24. Haven’t seen anyone mention the title cards: I noticed that the podcast app-like graphic lists the exact time (like if the title card appears at 4:56 in the episode, it’ll say 4:56 on the screen). It’s cool but I don’t think the ending time is the same, which I would’ve liked to round out the theme.
