  1. *floats in* .......ooooooOOOOOOOOoooooooo....... This is getting exciting! .......ooooooOOOOOOOOoooooooo....... *floats out*
  2. @peach, your son's snarky asides slay me.
  3. @peach! I had no idea you were in STL. I live a couple hours from there, but consider it my "city", since that's where we go for games, concerts, what have you. I'm so relieved that things seem to be simmering down. Anywho, carry on!
  4. Guys, we're starting to veer off topic. Let's return to the commercial talk, please.
  5. I think every house has either a fuse box or breaker box. But it'd be in the basement, or barring that, a laundry room or utility closet. I have a basement, but had my breaker box moved to my laundry, because my basement is just. that. creepy. I don't go down there for ANYBODY. lol
  6. Haha! Agreed! Yep, me too. If they don't have mayo available I'll use catsup, but i can't abide mustard, especially the awful day-glo yellow kind they put out at ballparks. I also use mayo on my fries if it's available.I don't like pickles, except for the sweet pickles my family cans. So a burger for me is meat, cheese, lettuce, onion, and mayo on bread (not a fan of store bought buns). @LuckyBitch, crayfish remind me of insects, too. *shudder*
  7. I hate steak. Maybe it's just the contempt of familiarity, because I grew up on a livestock farm and it was common for us to eat it, but it does absolutely nothing for me. It is the absolute last thing I would ever order at a restaurant, and I'm always astonished at what other people will pay to have it. In fact, beef in general could disappear from the meat counter, and I wouldn't notice.
  8. @forumfish, I've never heard of a grill skillet, and I'm intrigued! There are so many recipes that look fantastic, but I just don't grill. I'm going to have to look into that.
  9. I picked "I wake up high on life!" Not because I really do, but because I almost never have time to drink (or eat) anything before I head to work in the morning. I'd rather be sleeping. Usually halfway through the morning I rouse myself from my computer screen long enough to get a Pepsi (if I have change) or a sweet iced tea (if I don't). The smell of brewing coffee makes me want to vomit, although I do love the smell of the dry beans. My parents never drank coffee when I was a kid - we just had it if my grandparents were coming over - and I've never gotten used to the smell. A few years ago, they took up coffee again, and now I cannot be at their house in the early morning.
  10. Thanks, @WendyCR72! I love trying new ones, especially for special events and family dinners. Speaking of... I'm having my parents over for supper tomorrow night, and I'm looking for something new. I'm thinking a casserole - something I can put together at lunch, and then just pop in the oven after work. Preferably something with NO odd/ethnic ingredients, because sadly, I live in a rural area where such things can be hard to find. :( My dad is not adventurous, but he does like Mexican, as long as it's not hot. Ideas?
  11. If you love to cook and bake, you're probably always looking for new recipes. Post your request here, and our resident chefs will give suggestions!
  12. Agreed, @Carrie Ann. I still can't believe how much they cut out of Thomas's story in the first series, considering how severely that altered the sympathetic potential of the character.
  13. Season One: The lives of physicists Dr. Leonard Hofstadter and Dr. Sheldon Cooper are shaken up when an attractive young aspiring actress from Omaha, Nebraska named Penny moves into the apartment across the hall from theirs. Leonard begins to become hopelessly enamored of Penny, while she feels only platonic affection for him; as a result, she finds herself putting up with his closest and ever-present friends: his roommate, Sheldon, who appears borderline obsessive-compulsive; engineering whiz Howard Wolowitz, a desperately sex-crazed mama's boy who thinks that his 1960s-style clothing and hairstyle give him an air of cool hipness; and Dr. Rajesh "Raj" Koothrappali, who will not speak to her, as he is too shy to talk to women, unless intoxicated, where he becomes a smooth talking yet highly overly aggressive womanizing flirt. Season Two: Season two begins to deal with character development, including Sheldon becoming more and more obsessive. Leonard and Penny's relationship takes a turn for the worse when they break up, but quickly is resolved. Soon their relationship progresses into a stronger friendship than before, while Sheldon and Penny's friendship slowly begins. In the season finale Penny hints at her true feelings for Leonard. Howard's character remains similar to that of season one in his attempts to seduce women, managing to start a short-lived sexual relationship with Leslie Winkle in the second half of the season. Meanwhile, Rajesh manages to briefly apologize to Penny for what he did in "The Griffin Equivalency" without having consumed alcohol. Season Three: Penny throws herself at Leonard after he returns from three months at the North Pole and they begin a relationship that lasts most of the season, Penny and Sheldon start a quirky friendship though she can still annoy him, Wil Wheaton begins appearing as Sheldon's arch enemy and breaks up Leonard and Penny, Howard begins to date Bernadette Rostenkowski and at the end of the season Sheldon meets Amy Farrah Fowler. Season Four: Penny dates a couple of guys including the dense Zack who likes the "science dudes", Sheldon begins a platonic relationship with Amy, Howard reconnects with Bernadette eventually asking her to marry him, Leonard begins to date Raj's sister Priya, Penny becomes friends with Amy and expresses regret at breaking up with Leonard. Season Five: Penny regrets her sleeping with Raj and has become very good friends with Leonard, Leonard breaks up with Priya, Amy pushes Sheldon in their relationship eventually becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, Penny and the other women become a clique of their own, Howard prepares for his wedding and going into space to the International Space Station and Leonard asks Penny out as they begin "Leonard and Penny 2.0". Season Six: Howard returns from space and settles into married life with Bernadette, Penny says "I love you, Leonard leaves for an expedition to the North Sea, Stewart joins the group as a fill-in for Howard, the Shamy continues, Raj dates Lucy and then realizes he can speak to women. Season Seven: Sheldon has a career crisis and quits his job, Penny and Leonard get engaged, leading Sheldon to run away from home, Howard and Bernadette consider children, Raj gets a girlfriend, Amy is disappointed when Sheldon leaves town.
  14. *knock, knock, knock* "Housekeeping" *knock, knock, knock* "Housekeeping" *knock, knock, knock* "Housekeeping" We don't really do "general discussion" topics at PTV, so this has been converted to an "all episodes talk" topic, and I'm going to consolidate the past seasons topics into here. I'll also be moving the conversation about the actors' deals into the media topic and doing some other cleanup. As a reminder, here's what an "all episodes" topic should be (this is also posted at the top of this thread): A place to discuss particular episodes, arcs and moments from the show's run. Please remember this isn't a complete catch-all topic -- check out the forum for character topics and other places for show-related talk.
  15. *floats in* "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." *floats out*
  16. @Shannon L., that's such a fun idea!
  17. Drat! Shot in the chest. When does the bar open? Lol
  18. It's a hot day here, so I'll take a frozen pink vodka lemonade.
  19. I pretty much only use PB as an ingredient, but I do prefer crunchy. It adds a little texture to whatever I'm baking.
  20. Wow, what a thrill for that kid! I'd love to see Billy Joel in concert. I've watched his Shea Stadium show on PBS probably a hundred times. I'm really too young to have been a fan in his first run - I was born the year The Stranger was released. I became a Billy fan because of my brother, but totally unintentionally on his part. He had one of those Columbia House memberships, where they sent you # albums a month and you had to return them if you didn't like them, which of course he never bothered to do. He preferred harder rock stuff, but this kid sister did her best to wear out Billy's Greatest Hits Volume I & II. I still put it on sometimes when I visit my parents, even though it's scratched to hell now. (Ah, vinyl, how I miss thee!)
  21. How awesome is it that we can just randomly start a topic about yogurt? I love this place. :-) I finally saw one of the marionette commercials on television tonight. So creepy, and I don't even remember what they were advertising.
