My objection wasn't just because FGL is a huge act. They also are, on the surface anyway, a very similar act to the Swons, ie. a male/male modern country duo. It just seems like an odd choice. Your second point is a valid one, though. Looking back, The Voice promoted Cassadee's album with a video montage of her debut single the week her album dropped. I'm surprised they didn't do something similar for the Swons. Maybe the show is only invested in the winners? I'd assume they'll have them on at some point to perform their second single, although again, since they didn't win and there are more recent contestants to promote, maybe not.

Hey, all, there are clearly a lot of passionate opinions about the Edith storyline. Please remember it's just a work of fiction, and try not to take or make it personal. Thanks.

As an American who doesn't have the patience for "methods", I haven't even seen any of it yet, and I'm already bored. There's not a single storyline being discussed that makes me anticipate this season. I was super excited for Edith's story, but it sounds like the execution was really poor. Hopefully seeing it "in action" will draw me in more. And totally agree with everyone who wants to see something, anything, happen with Tom. Actually, with any of the characters I care about - Tom, Edith, Daisy, Isobel, Rose, Thomas.

LB's accent is so thick that sometimes I can't even understand him. But it's hot as hell, so who cares what he's saying anyway? lol

Ouch, that's rough. Hopefully they can build some momentum with the second single. Whoever decided to debut their album the same day as Florida Georgia Line's is incredibly stupid.

I don't think Alicia is an alcoholic, but I think her relationship with wine approaches something I would call... concerning. Not because she drinks alone, or even because of the size of her wine glasses, but because sometimes she appears to need a drink. That's the thing that makes me take notice. Drinking socially, or because she loves wine, or to help relax at the end of a long day I don't see as problematic. But when someone needs to drink to cope/have fun/deal with social situations, it starts to be a different thing, IMHO.

Thanks for starting the thread, dcalley! Lewis and Hathaway get the bulk of the attention for this show - as they should - but the supporting cast of women deserve a solid honorable mention. Hobson, Innocent, and now Maddox are written as smart, competent, and emotionally intelligent. They are totally believable as women who have risen to the top in a male-dominated field. So refreshing in the world of television cop shows. Such a nice moment at the end between our two leads. They've done a great job this season of showing Robbie and James's awkward transition from supervisor and employee to equals.

The police were so shocked it was the husband, because he was such an upstanding citizen. I turned to my family and said, "they must not watch Dateline." Those daughters. They almost seemed brainwashed, and like they were blaming their mother. Your mom, out of the blue, gets shot in the face. It comes to light that your dad has been living a double life. The police have proof, including photos and audio, of him dealing with some very shady characters, including the alleged shooter. And for this, your relationship is stained with your mom? While your dad continues to enjoy your unflinching support? I can see hoping and believing your dad is innocent. I can see refusing to concede that the man who raised you could do that. But they just seemed so cold toward their mother, that it seemed...off. At the end, when one of them said something about this "big, life-changing thing happening to their family", I was flabbergasted. As in, is she taking about her mom getting shot in the face? Yes, that certainly changed her life! Jeez!

Yep, she played Malone's (Anthony LaPaglia's) daughter on Without a Trace, and she's been in a million other things. A busy young woman! I've never watched NCIS:LA, and haven't seen the original in years, so I wasn't going to watch this. Caught this episode, though, and was pleasantly surprised. Bakula's accent isn't great, but I think he's believable in the part. I like Brody, and LaSalle is worth the price of admission all on his own. That accent! *swoon* The thing with the daugther... eh, I'm ambivalent at this point. She seems like a decent actress, and she and Bakula have strong (almost inappropriate! lol) chemistry. But I did think it was really weird for them to be so openly discussing the case in front of her. That took me right out of that scene.

Seriously. I've never seen the Ellis years, and even I know most of this is bullshit. Speaking of, ITA with the poster upthread who said if they wanted to do this, they should have done it sooner. I'm sure I'm not the only late-comer to this series who is wondering why I'm supposed to care about any of this. I realize it informs Mer as a character, but I'd rather see her have a current story. All of this is kind of losing anyone who's a newer viewer.

Since this seems to be heading toward a rehash of S2, and not a reaction to the media piece, let's move the discussion of the whole Xtina/Tony/Adam debacle over to the season topic. Thanks much. http://forums.previously.tv/topic/5429-season-two-christina-vs-adam-celebrity-deathmatch/

Guys, there's a music forum here at PTV if you want to discuss country music in general. Posts in this forum need to be related to The Voice.

The schools here don't allow homemade anything. Everything has to be purchased and individually wrapped and labeled. They're so afraid somebody might get sick and sue. I think Gramps has his own place in the guest house? Presumably he cleans there and does his own laundry, etc. We've seen him stop by for a few meals, but he eats at home, too - he was entertaining a lady friend in this most recent episode. So while it would be nice for him to offer to fill the dishwasher, I don't think he's some mooch because he doesn't. If he actually lived in their house, it would be different. I'm looking at you, teenagers!

Yep, this was definitely an eyeroll moment. If they had said, "we have to keep his body until the state M.E. comes to take a look," that would have made more sense. They don't keep bodies on ice until they have convictions, because that would just be impossible. But also because a small town like this likely would not have a forensics expert at the level required. As I mentioned upthread, I live near a comparable RL city. The police force has a couple of forensics people, but if they caught a crime anywhere near something like this - dead kid, no suspects, parents connected to the cops - their first call would be to the state police for assistance. Not necessarily for help with the interviews, etc., but forensics is often a matter of technology, which small cities can't afford.

"Nothing sadder than a freaky Thursday, son." "You be Harriet Tubman; I'll be Frederick Douglass." Bahaha! I love this show.

That brings up a good point - are all of the originals' contracts up at the end of the season? I do wonder what MC thinks of the whole thing - be it truth or rumors. As you say, he and AP are close friends. I don't fully understand how development deals work. If AP's pilot doesn't get picked up, is that it for her contract with them? Or is she basically on retainer for other projects?
-
I hate to speculate beyond what we've been told are the reasons for keeping Kalinda and Alicia apart. However, no matter the motivation, the result has been to absolutely marginalize AP on the show. When a show has a central title character who is in 75%(?) of the scenes, and your character is not allowed to share scenes with that person, the writing is on the wall. I'll still stick around for Cary and Diane, but this is a hard blow to my love of the show. I was hoping against hope they'd give AP something interesting, and I still hope they give her a good exit arc.
-
Wow... I'm surprised, but not really. Surprised because people don't often voluntarily leave career-making roles, but not surprised because the writing for Kalinda just isn't there, and hasn't been for awhile. It's nice seeing AP get a chance to parlay her supporting actress accolades into leading actress offers.

I haven't been keeping up with this season - Voice fatigue - but I went online and watched the Team Blake battle to see the Little Big Town interaction mentioned upthread. What a nice moment! The shorter-haired guy, James David something, cracked me up when he told the woman from LBT that she has the best hair in country music. lol Fun battle. I absolutely love Pat Green, so it was great hearing them do one of his songs. I thought they both did a good job, but I totally agree with Blake's choice. I think the other guy is just too outdated musically, and stylistically he's a mess (and I won't pretend that doesn't matter). After that, I went back and watched JD?'s audition, and I've officially found my S7 horse.
