  1. But the series HASN'T fully aired for most viewers. People with a PBS Passport have access to the entire series, but everyone else is going week to week.
  2. I looked it up and there were examples of firefighters as both recipients and donors who went back to work. Recuperation for physical occupations takes a little longer than desk jobs, but it is doable. Maybe Bode can work in the kitchen with Freddy until he's recuperated from the donation.
  3. From an article on why horses are sometimes blindfolded: "Blindfolding horses during emergencies is also appropriate. Horses can be quite emotional and only loosen up around the people they trust. For instance, should a fire break out in the barns and they are hesitant to move, blindfold them to reduce the nervousness and have them move." Although I'm not a horse person, I've seen owners do this on the news to get their horses to move when there is fire danger. I would think Cal Fire personnel would be aware of this, even though the owners never seem to have heard of it. Seems worth a try and more plausible than finding a few stray sugar cubes in a barn that is about to implode.
  4. The whole handling of the "Maroun didn't mention a gun" story made me want to scream. The ADA's "defense" of her: "How many cases did you get right?" was terrible. It didn't matter how many she got right, just that she didn't follow through on this one. And she seemed surprised by the question. Wouldn't he have spoken with her before she testified? He needed the jury to understand why no gun was mentioned before. He could have asked her on re-direct to explain to them just as she had explained to him when she was first got the subpoena.. The gun wasn't mentioned in the police report, she was crazy swamped, the witness didn't speak understandable English and she didn't get back to the witness before she was transferred to homicide. Yes, she should have spoken to the witness and so should the attorney who replaced her. Also, could the police have tracked down where the gun came from?
  5. 1.5 Until Death Do Us Part Why didn't Miriam's attorney insist the judge hear an explanation of why her client withdrew the money before making her decision regarding power of attorney? When Daniel and Abigail heard the explanation, should they have still continued on with their "she withdrew the money for her own benefit" knowing the money was withdrawn at her father's suggestion? Former Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O'Connor's husband had an affair with another woman when he was in care for dementia and O'Connor allowed it to continue. She understood that this was his reality and that he was no longer the man she had known during their marriage. It's a very sad situation.
  6. The son had seen his father attempt to choke someone and his testimony led to the father being in prison. Then the little boy saw his mother shot and when his father took him away, they had to step around two dead security guards. And yet the boy seemed thrilled to be going away with his dad, whom he said he loved. What's up with that?
  7. Annika's marine unit handles deaths on the water over a large area of Scotland, so they are in many locations, not specifically Glasgow. (Although Glasgow is also on the water.) The Isle of Bute (episode 2), for example, is about 44 miles from Glasgow. This link describes locations where they shot the episodes. It may contain spoilers for those of us who have only seen the first two episodes. https://findthatlocation.com/blog/annika-filming-locations-the-clyde-in-the-spotlight
  8. That's funny you should mention this, rcc, because I really dislike the new assistant. Her character is supposed to be in the Navy - between assignments? How is someone "between assignments"? It just seems unnecessary to have a second assistant, now that Madison is back, although I believe I read they had planned to have both even before COVID caused them to use both. Madison is already the computer nerd, spirited assistant. Maybe if the new assistant behave more like someone in the military and less similar to Madison, I'd see the new to have two aides.
  9. I believe conversion therapy is now illegal in Canada (as of January 2022), but this episode originally aired in Canada in 2021 and was just shown in the U.S. 10/2022. Abigail may have been treated badly by her father, but she really needs to adjust her attitude if she wants her own family to reunite. Her husband has every right to be po'd at her for lying about going to therapy. I'm glad she's finally turning to the office manager for A.A. help. She should move out of her mother's home, since the woman's openly drinking in front of her is really a hurtful thing for a parent of an alcoholic to do to her child.
  10. Good point, DANIELG342 about Bode being shown as someone with all the answers. Especially since his actions in the past that got him into so much trouble were often the WRONG answers.
  11. I want to hear more about how all the blame got laid on Bode for Riley jumping out of the car. Why didn't Bode mention that at the time and let all the blame get put on himself? Why was it such a big secret that Jake was dating Riley?
  12. When we visited Baltimore, there was a plaque on the building in Fells Point that was used as the exterior of the police station. I've been wondering what the people who live in East New York think about how the TV show treats their community. Is it any more (or less) realistic about crime in their neighborhood than "Streets of San Francisco" or "Chicago PD" or "Las Vegas CSI"? (At least Cabot Cover, with the nation's highest per capita murder rate, was fictional.)
  13. I agree that this was an excellent episode, exploring Vance and Parker's inner turmoil and letting us in on some personal information about them that we were unaware. I do wish, however, that they would have mentioned that Vance's wife was shot and killed in their home -- and then another woman he loves is shot and nearly killed. The murder of Gibbs' wife affected him for years, but Vance's loss hasn't been mentioned after a year or two, which made his liaison with the German woman all the more surprising. .
  14. I wasn't commenting on the content of the preview. Just that there was one on the West coast, as opposed to the East coast.
  15. The purpose of the older cop mentioning those two cop shows -- which happen to be comedies -- was to show the age difference between him and the rookie and how that might affect their work. It had nothing to do with suggesting East New York would be a comedy.
  16. There WERE coming attractions on the West coast. Maybe someone goofed back East and they corrected it.
  17. I read that she had COVID and was temporarily replaced by the new assistant. According to trailers I've seen, Madison will be back.
  18. Both the defense attorney and the DA's office were just doing their jobs. She had quite the nerve going off at him for doing what federal prosecutors are required to do. While she is throwing in a plea for insanity to save her client, a white nationalist who murdered 7 innocent people is an example of putting personal feelings about her job?
  19. If you like Zahn McClarnon, the actor who plays Big, you should check him out in "Dark Winds," where he is the lead as tribal police officer Joe Leaphorn.
  20. Speaking of non-actors with minor roles in this episode (Offerings, 2.9), the manager who sent Elora to clean up in the bathroom was played by Joy Harjo, the first Native U.S. poet laureate.
  21. I saw a photo of her watching the show on a TV on Air Force One.
  22. The phrase "Friend of Dorothy" apparently was used during WWII, although you're correct, it wasn't as commonly used as it was a few years later. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friend_of_Dorothy
  23. Hadn't heard about the show until we saw word of the new season. (We love her in Only Murders in the Building.) We started with season 1 and are now racing through to the start of season 2. I wish Papa and Selena's friends would stop making fun of her mistakes. She's such a likeable person and all the negative "just joking around" is hurtful.
  24. Mabinogia wrote: While I admittedly expected Carson to be the "white saviour" who got Max on the team because that's typically how Hollywood would tell this story, I am so happy that it didn't happen. Abbi Jacobson and her co-creator did a ton of research before writing the scripts, including interviewing many former players, so I was expecting them to stick to the basic facts. So I wasn't expecting Carson as "white savior," but Carson and Max did develop a somewhat tentative friendship and met several times to discuss their shared love of baseball and their sexual interest in other women -- and "have a catch." They were both outsiders, each in her own way.
  25. I listened to a podcast where EP Sterlin Harjo talked with Poet Laureate Joy Harjo. Although both are often asked if they are related, they are not. It apparently is a not uncommon Muscogee name.
