  1. That it would have been! Subsequent years will be her posthumous 82nd and 83rd, and so on.
  2. I got that CBS/Paramount all-in-one DVD of Vega$ (1978-81 ABC detective/adventure series w/the late Robert Urich), and after seeing the first several second-season episodes of that series, I'm beginning to think that I cannot see Robert Urich as anything beyond Dan Tanna.
  3. For all those in Buffalo who looked to Irv Weinstein as your favorite news anchor on WKBW Channel 7, ABC station of that area: thought you'd want to know that he just passed on of ALS; he was 87. http://buffalonews.com/2017/12/26/irv-weinstein-legendary-channel-7-anchor-has-died/ Also, right from WKBW's page: https://www.wkbw.com/news/remembering-irv-weinstein-a-buffalo-broadcasting-legend
  4. And he was on NBC's AFC NFL coverage w/Merlin Olsen, so I grew up around him that way as well.
  5. Dick Enberg, legendary NBC sportscaster, passes on at 82, possibly of a heart attack: http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/sd-sp-dick-enberg-death-obit-20171221-story.html Here he was on the 1981 Rose Bowl broadcast alongside the late Merlin Olsen (now, presumably, Dick and Merlin can call as many Rose Bowls and Super Bowls as they want now from heaven); screenshot captured from DVD of 1981 Rose Bowl
  6. Peter Pan peanut butter commercial blooper on Say When!! on NBC w/the late Art James, 1964
  7. Truth! Doesn't he realize how much of an effort it would be to wrap stocking stuffers?! Regular presents, I can see wrapping, but things that go in a stocking don't need to be (at least IMO).
  8. Bumping this up: almost 60 years ago today, this 1958 ABC game called Dr. I.Q. starred a then 31-year-old Tom Kennedy (born Jim Narz in Kentucky in Feb. 1927; had taken the stage name of Tom Kennedy to avoid confusion with his big brother Jack); it originally aired Dec. 15, 1958.
  9. So basically, a lot of those customers felt that it wasn't rudeness for that baby to carry on like that, but that it was for that one customer to not put up with it and to say something about it?! Unreal!
  10. Believe it or not, my unpopular opinion is that, based on what I've seen of it from YouTube, the British Supermarket Sweep w/Dale Winton (a.k.a. Dale's Supermarket Sweep) is far better than what I grew up around w/David Ruprecht here in America. Don't know why I feel that way, but I just do.
  11. Nor was I-- nonetheless, Jim Nabors has his place in television history that cannot be denied, and therefore it made me somewhat sad for the fans of those 60s CBS comedies that he was in to hear that he had passed on.
  12. That is quite true, especially of Barbara Hale and Monty Hall!
  13. And it's a redundancy because "sharing" implies commonality, I take it?
  14. And I've been doing the same on the deaths of Barbara Hale and Mary Tyler Moore, among others: --With Barbara, having her reunited as Della with Perry and Paul in that great Mason detective office in the sky. --And with MTM, having her reunited with the face of her production label, that great kitten/cat named Mimsie.
  15. Hard-fought game, Clemson over N.C. State, 38-31; I was dadgum sure that N.C. State would pull a New England Patriots there.
  16. Not about cars, but that's the same thing that I do with the John Deere Gator that my family has-- back it up into the building, so that whenever it's needed, I can get it and drive right out, instead of having to back out and having an extra step.
  17. Fourth-season confrontation between Alexis and Claudia over Danny: Alexis: "You owe me an explanation, Claudia, and I want one right now!" Claudia: "Alexis, I did not move Danny in with Blake and Krystle as an attack on you!" Alexis: "That child belongs to me just as much as he does to Blake!" Claudia: "I am not denying that, but right now Danny is safer at Blake's than anywhere else." Alexis: "That place is a prison! It's got guards, it's got fences, it's got visiting hours! Now Blake refuses to allow me into that fortress-- what am I supposed to do, send Danny a postcard?!?" Claudia: "Steven and I will bring Danny to see you anytime you want." Alexis: (takes folder, throws it on desk) "Now Steven is that child's father, and he makes the decisions, not you, Claudia!" Claudia: "Understand this, Alexis-- as far as Steven is concerned, I am Danny's mother, and I don't need anyone's permission to act where my son's safety is concerned." Alexis: "Safety-- with Blake Carrington?! That man destroys, Claudia! He destroys from within." Claudia: "And what would you do, Alexis, to satisfy your hatred of Blake-- would you jeopardize Danny's safety?! If that's true, I feel sorry for you, and that really is all that I have to say." (Claudia sits down quickly, Alexis storms to office door) Alexis: "Then we both said all there is to say...for now." (Alexis leaves quickly, slams door as Claudia sits, gaping)
  18. IIRC, O-R MacGyver on ABC w/Richard Dean Anderson was made in Vancouver (though still set in L.A.) for its third through sixth seasons (1987-91), then went back to L.A. where it was originally done (first two seasons, 1985-87) for its final season (1991-92). Here's a copyright card from 1989 indicating that MacGyver at this time was done at studios called The Bridge Stages in Vancouver (captured from fifth season within CBS DVD Complete Collection release of MacGyver):
  19. Truth! However, the one thing they did have was an updated version of that fountain figure that started the O-R title sequence in the 80s (and was used twice more before the Dynasty title came up, as well as being used as somewhat of a divider between certain cast cards)-- to wit, this (as captured from the repackaged CBS DVD first-season release):
  20. IIRC, that was part of the storyline of the second-season original-recipe Five-O episode "Most Likely to Murder," OAD Feb. 11, 1970 on CBS. Lew Morgan (Tom Skerritt), the supposed widower of Marjorie Morgan, his wife, wanted to help Five-O and McGarrett in the investigation, but McGarrett ix-nayed that. McGarrett said, "You're not an outsider-- you're a cop and a good cop. But..." Morgan questioned what it was that caused McGarrett to ix-nay. McGarrett said, "There's no place in a homicide for emotion, Lew-- you know that; I don't have to tell it to you." Lew reminded McGarrett that his wife (Lew's) was just murdered. McGarrett agreed: "Nobody knows that better than we do. Five-O and HPD have made this #1 priority; everything that can be done has been done. Now, please, Lew... I know how you must feel. Come on. Will you leave it to us, please? Go home, get some rest."
  21. The way he did it (and the way Bob Barker was on TPIR), you knew for sure one of these days that both those shows and their hosts would be indelibly marked in the pages of classic television history.
  22. Good point! He lived a good long life and was a television legend, so I'd say it's inconsequential.
  23. I've heard it was heart disease from one place, natural causes from the next-- don't know which is right.
  24. You bet! LMAD and his iconic turn as "TV's Big Dealer," per Jay Stewart and other announcers, helped Monty make a name for himself.
