  1. We’ve a collection of various currencies my father collected over the years when he travelled around the world in the 1950s, he handed them over to my husband years ago. Euro and Sterling are currencies we use when we’re back home so they don’t count as collectables, I did keep some Irish punts though and didn’t trade them in. (I’m not alone as there’s something like €350m in old currency still out there 20 years later!)
  2. Very true! The big attraction for me is watching the experts fix these items and I would love to see more of it. The sentimentality depends on the item, some owners are far more into the crying for the camera than others. We fast forward those bits!
  3. There is a BBC show called The Repair Shop I’d watch on trips home. I recorded some old episodes of it on Discovery last weekend, watched a few, and remembered what I hated about it. I really love seeing the craftspeople restore and repair all manner of objects. What I don’t enjoy is that half the time spent on any item is the owners bringing it in / reminiscing about the person it was handed down from / what memories they might have of it (with tears highly encouraged) and after the project is done the Big Reveal (cue more crying and how Granny / Grandad / other person would have loved to see said item working again). I just hate that they don’t show more of the repairs which I find fascinating.
  4. My answer to FJ was The White Tower. I like to think it would have been ruled correct since it was the actual building being referred to by the clue.
  5. Sometimes I don’t know why I still watch this. (Well besides coming here of course.). Delusional Tammy of the Million Excuses continued her refusal to take any responsibility at all. Loved seeing her cut loose by Dr Smith. “But I’m a Mom now” Amy isn’t much better, I feel bad for that poor child. She will never lose any weight and soon will be right back up to her starting weight (or more). Both of them seem to have forgotten everything they learned in season 1 about healthy eating. Chris having gravy is ridiculous. Beef, fine it’s protein. But gravy is not. If he stays on this path I see his success being about the same as Amy’s (ie not very good).
  6. It’s all just another day to me, I was asleep at midnight as usual. I think it’s because I’m old. Books have been my escape since childhood. I hope they bring you some comfort too.
  7. EastEnders!! It’s been years now since I’ve seen it but I can get it over here on BritBox. (Where I’ve been watching the old series with Christopher Timothy.) Looking forward to the new season to air here next year. I keep saying I’m going to read the books again too but I’ve so many in the queue already.
  8. Can you imagine how she would lash out if anyone tried it? She’d have a tantrum of epic proportions because - never mind ordering food - how would all her FANS live without her TikTok videos!
  9. I’m at 0% compassion for the proudly unvaccinated and have been saying for some time they should be turfed out if a vaccinated person needs that bed for ANY reason. And yes, -10% constructive and creative energy is not only possible but rather widespread at the moment in my opinion. I keep saying I’ll start something next Monday. Who knows.
  10. But she’s QUEEN Tammy! She is entitled to sit on her massive derriere and be catered to by everyone!! She seems to walk well enough when she chooses to. Wouldn’t that be some sight…
  11. I think it is, in some versions you can see the stitch details. My lazy alternative is to digitize it and let my machine do all the work.
  12. As long time winners go Amy has annoyed me the least. I have really wished for some of them to lose because of their mannerisms or gameplay strategies. She doesn’t jump all over the board, she uses “who’s” for a person, and just calmly plays the game without swaying from side to side, shaking the buzzer and/or continuously clicking it audibly. I’m half afraid to see who will eventually (someday) replace her so I’m enjoying her run while I can! I’m also not in any hurry to see Mayim back either. She’s okay and has improved from her “try-out” but I really prefer Ken.
  13. My mum would send my dad to the shops (walking distance, not far at all) and most days would send him straight back to return something because a) it wasn't the price she expected, b) he got the wrong size or flavour or c) when she saw the item it wasn't what she wanted. She wasn't physically able to do the shopping herself so he had no choice but to do it, the lady on the service desk got to know him really well. Actually I suppose most of the staff knew him as he was there more than once most days! We've done driveway gift exchanges since the pandemic began, one person even wiped down the parcel before leaving it on a rock and backing away for us to pick it up!
  14. One of the good things back home is that when you donated to a charity shop your donation went to a different outlet so you almost never saw your own things locally!
  15. Delighted to see Amy told to go away and finish losing weight before she gets skin removal. She’d probably love to see some of the fat removed with the excess skin and not have to bother losing it with diet and exercise (who wouldn’t?!).
  16. For *some* patients the weight of the excess skin gets them much closer to their goal. We’ve seen many of them wear compression garments to hold it in place while they continue losing enough weight for skin removal. Amy shouldn’t be a skin removal surgery candidate at this point, she isn’t anywhere near her goal weight and now seems to be gaining rather than losing. As @BradandJanet pointed out the recovery is very painful and she hasn’t got much of a support system. I’ve seen more than enough of Tammy’s nasty scowling behaviour and fast forward when she’s on the screen.
  17. It is going to snow on me today, which never fails to put me in the very FOULEST humour imaginable. Someday I need to move somewhere free of the hell known as “a New England winter”.
  18. C) here, they’re so impressive up close!
  19. Amy seems to be packing on the pounds again, she probably eats all the cheat food right along with Tammy. Tammy is decidedly a hate-watch for me.
  20. Amber Rachdi was the one on the luggage cart, the foot rest on her “specially made” wheelchair broke. Photos are available online. Not sure about the other stuff!
  21. All this. I’d happily send Tammy on her way to Vegas and if the trip is a problem she can solve it herself. Cos she’s so “independent”. Self-proclaimed “queen” Tammy bragging that she inspires people made me laugh. The inspiration she provides might be to stop eating to avoid getting to her size. Not fitting in the motorized wheelchair should have made her think about getting more active and sticking to her diet so she COULD do more on her own, but Tammy’s thought processes don’t go there.. I love Tisa and her attitude to Tammy’s demands.
  22. The description of this episode made me laugh. Who enabled Tammy to leave rehab early by picking her up and driving her home? It wasn’t Amy.
  23. But she’s a MOM now! She doesn’t have time to keep the place picked up!!
  24. People who send messages in very ornate script fonts in light colors. If you want people to read your message at least make it readable, especially as so many are using mobile devices! I will not bother to decipher your special swirly colorful words.
