I'd have an once of respect for Franzel if she were capable of that kinda foresight and strategy.

Yes, this! The shenanigans with those ashes was beyond EXTRA. He was so in love and heartbroken that he literally slept with the woman's ashes every night, and yet they're just shoved into the closet floor in a ratty cardboard box? Yeah, that tracks. Also, having the funeral parlor lay out her remains like that was the creepiest crap ever, as though he was admiring his handy work. I totally think that not only did he kill her but he full on told us how when he laid out that "what if" scenario with the abduction, being held hostage, and then wheel barreled into the woods. I think he paid people to abduct her and then did the deed himself because he seems like the type of control freak/maniacal asshole that would need to kill her with his own two hands. His alibi was too air tight, ready with the receipt and whatnot, and then he points out that he has a degree in criminology or that he studied it? I don't recall exactly. The second he mentioned that it was a red flag for me. The way he treated her teenaged son was absolutely reprehensible as well. He is truly vile.

Misheard Lyrics (Mondegreens): There's A Bathroom On the Right
Jeebus Cripes replied to AntiBeeSpray's topic in Music
"Crash" by Dave Matthews Band. What he says: Hike up your skirt a little more And show the world to me What I heard: Hike up your skirt, little boy And show the world to me Needless to say, I was concerned. -
I am shook!

Adolescent me totally misinterpreted a chunk of "Alive" by Pearl Jam. After the chorus, when he jumped ahead in his narrative to this bit: While she walks slowly across a young man's room She said, "I'm ready for you" I was still hung up on the earlier part about his mom telling him his dad wasn't his bio dad and thought these lines were still somehow about his mother. I remember thinking, "Jesus, this is taking a strange turn..."

I will now be so disappointed if this doesn't happen.

Yeah, I slowed it down and clicked frame by frame after I screamed in delight and nearly woke the entire household up.

Why is retirement not an option? Forever salty about how overlooked he is in those films. Pretty salty about the last two films in general. They had forever and a day to formulate a solid plot, fill in any plot-holes, and really stick the landing. It was all so messy and uncoordinated in the end. Not at all the quality stuff I was expecting them to deliver. Makes me sad.

Evan's personality wasn't really in line from what I recall of Pietro in the comics either, though I did enjoy him. ITA with his speed level being bananas in those Fox films. Also, his wig was an abomination and should die in a fire. I guess what I'm saying here, is that I prefer MCU Quicksilver and wish Whedon didn't axe him for shock value.

Just watched the Expanding the Universe special on Disney+ and the aesthetic for What If...? is mind-blowingly gorgeous. I've never much cared for the character design for most of the recent Marvel cartoons, so this is such a delight for me.
-
Well, I watched the Avengers cartoon, not the Assemble one, but the one from 2010, and that one was really crisp with no issues. X-Men looks terrible, though. I mean, when the repeats air on television they don't look this bad, so I know there is footage that isn't balls. I'm not sure what the deal is.

So, I'm watching this on Disney+, and I was super excited but the quality is for shit. Even the audio is lagging in spots like they uploaded it from an old VHS tape from someone's basement. Come on, Disney! I've seen clearer rips on YouTube!

I remember secretly wishing the blonde dude from One Tree Hill would end up with her. I recall he was something of a shady douche but had moments where I found him sympathetic and compelling.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I thought Evil!Grant was the only interesting character they had. He had charisma, at the very least, which a lot of the cast lacks. I agree with the posts upthread about Agent Carter having a weak second season. I very much enjoyed the first one, though. One day I'll get around to some of those Netflix shows now that I actually have an account.
-
Never could warm up to any of the characters. I stopped watching a couple of seasons ago when I realized I just didn't care if any of them lived or died. The show also made me come to despise Coulson, whereas I found him likable in the films. Can't really say which show I find to be the best because I have yet to see any of the Netflix stuff. Pretty sure we can all agree that Inhumans is the worst, though.

I remember him being related to Gateway, but I also seem to recall some relation to Storm? Not sure if I'm confusing him with another character...

Right? The team as a whole has a wealth of characters of all ethnicities to choose from, many of which are fascinating characters that have gotten little to no attention as of yet. Why they would need to change an existing character's skin color, as opposed to just using a POC already established in the comics is beyond me. We've already seen Charles and Erik in at least 6 films. I would just start the movies with an already established team co-lead by Cyclops and Storm --because I'm still waiting for both of those characters to actually be done right-- and showcase a diverse team that does not include Wolverine, Xavier, or Magneto. Let those characters come in much later. And for the love of God, no Mystique! That said, they will absolutely cram Wolverine down our throats ASAP. You watch.

Those movies are a hot mess. 🤣

Okay, this is literally the greatest fan edit of the MCU that I have ever seen in my life, and I watch a lot of this shit. Also, a warning: you will ugly cry.
-
The rumor mill is reporting that the MCU wants a person of color for either Charles Xavier or Magneto, or possibly both. I think that would be great for Charles. I will be salty if they change Erik's background, though. Him being a Jewish holocaust survivor is intrinsic to that character, and you could argue that they could use any other country that has faced genocide for his origin, but to ignore his Jewish roots would be a huge misstep, IMHO. And as for the argument about his age: Just write that his mutation causes him to age slower. Simple as that. I have always scratched my head in bewilderment over the shenanigans they come up with in the comics to keep his body youthful. Just make him age slower! I also keep hearing they want to present an X-Men that no one has seen yet, to which I reply: I'm still waiting to see the X-Men from the comics, man! Whatever the hell Fox churned out, that was not the X-Men I've come to know and love. Could we not learn from Fox's erroneous ways and actually stick to source material this time? Statements like that make me nervous. I don't want some drastic new shit just because they want MCU's X-Men to be "different." Hey, make a film with mutants who embody their comic counterparts, and you've automatically made an X-Men film that's wildly different from Fox's! Tinkering with race---just not Magneto's---is fine, but for the love of God, don't start doing wacky shit with my X-Men just to distance them from Fox. Please give me a proper film with those mutants before I die!

I saw an artist depict what it would look like if male superheroes posed like they draw the women, and it was equal parts hysterical and sad. I wish I could be more interested in the Hawkeye show, or maybe I wish it was focused on another character altogether? Sorry, I just don't find him all that interesting in the MCU.
-
Oh, why go through all that trouble when you can just shoehorn her into the MCU? 🙄 They had to have planned to include her at some point, so your idea is far superior to what we got. Also, I don't much care for Coulson, so there's that. It's amazing how much I can find to bitch about, considering how much I adore this franchise. Shame on me.

ITA about Jean's Phoenix costume. The pouches worked on characters like Cable who always had tons of weapons, but when does Scott do anything but blast things with his eyes? Still waiting for that trenchcoat as well.

RE the EVC online harassment: Social media is fucking toxic to the core. I really despise facebook, twitter, all that jazz. I'm not knocking anyone who does enjoy it; whatever rocks your boat and whatnot, but any social scene that's not heavily moderated on the internet is always going to be a haven for trolls and mob mentality. There are almost no consequences for saying whatever vile thought is on one's mind. Also, I will never understand why people have trouble separating fiction from reality in these situations. Like, I detest Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique to the point where I will forward scenes with her, but I would never harass the actress in any shape or form, because I don't have the emotional maturity of a twelve year old. People need to grow the fuck up.
