  1. I left the room to do other things mid-episode. It felt like a different show.
  2. I saw a preview over on Reddit. Needless to say, I want to punch Miranda. God, please get this insufferable character off my screen. eta: If you go back to the end of episode 9, the preview is now up.
  3. Wow, what a pitiful game. Rhone was not that great of a player. He got lucky yesterday.
  4. Lots of TSs so far. Boring. Is this supposed to be more competitive? Its painful.
  5. Her name is Cynthia Nixon. I suppose Miranda will be running for Mayor if there’s a season 2.
  6. This made me laugh. It’s so true. Why is Miranda so loud and shrill? Why is she constantly babbling? Is this Cynthia Nixon’s attempt to show Miranda as a nervous newbie because she really, really likes someone? Because it comes off as frankly insane. It makes me jittery and uncomfortable. Is that what I’m supposed to be feeling?
  7. It’s hard to say. I would say yes, but they would never admit it. I could just tell from the way they tried to alter the history about it a few years later. But in the context of this show, I’d like to see more from the people surrounding Miranda. Not just a look or a line. She’s acting nuts. She deserves repercussions. They don’t have to mean breaking up with Che or having that relationship be a disaster either. But something recognizable.
  8. But there’s also fallout like loss of respect among other friends and family. In my situation, the person married the AP and so on its face it would seem to have worked out. The fallout was from family and friends secretly losing respect and not looking at them the same again. (And also the jilted exes on both sides not rolling over like Steve did) I never wanted to use tampons. If you are an anxious person you hear about things like toxic shock syndrome or other mishaps and you figure, forget that. I only started using them in college and even then it was a huge PITA. No friggin’ way my squeamish, anxious 12 year old is going to want to use them ever.
  9. Did anyone get a promo for the final episode? I didn’t this time and I usually do.
  10. Nothing happened in this stupid episode. And I absolutely hated Miranda more with every word coming out of her obnoxious mouth. Steve is the only character with an ounce of integrity. Charlotte is still on SATC (which I guess is good?) Nya is on another show entirely. Carrie is the only other person who seems to have any depth of feeling and I cannot believe I just typed that. Seriously, why is Nya on this show? Seema is working as a character, and I’d like to see more of her. Seema needs a core plot line not Nya. I don’t dislike the actress but this infertility storyline sticks out as random. ETA: I cannot describe the loathing I have for Miranda. Blows up her life, hurts Steve and then is blithely joking about her relationship breezing by any fallout whatsoever. They cannot be serious with this. Some of us have experience watching a friend or close family member do something like this and let me tell you THERE’S FALLOUT. Yet this show writes about all the stupid stuff and NONE of the hard stuff. They probably don’t know how. Is Brady going to say anything at all besides a single line? Although he did manage to convey contempt in that one line, so good job, I guess. Miranda deserves it.
  11. On her Twitter threads (which are fun to read) Amy was talking about being nervous to face Matt Amodio in the TOC and talking about how he had the statistical edge on her. Which now with the benefit of hindsight was a slight tell that her streak was ending imminently.
  12. I thought she was definitely off at first but she really played pretty well overall. It was Rhone nailing that daily double that really did it.
  13. Ha, same here. Me: The great coral reef! The one by Australia! H: Great Barrier Reef? Then I just kept wondering what would have happened if I had written Great Coral Reef, the One by Australia.
  14. I was shouting Stephenie Meyer at the TV screen. I mean, I’m not proud of it or anything but that was a surprising TS to me.
  15. I read somewhere that Amy does a podcast so on a whim I looked her up in my Apple podcasts and she has two. One is about Downton Abbey and the other is about reading tarot cards. I haven’t listened to an episode properly and I don’t think she’s done an episode in awhile but I think its kind of cool that Amy has such a wide range of interests.
  16. I remember my husband and I used to keep our old loose change in a plastic colander. One day as we were packing up to move, we decided to wrap the change in the colander as it was heavy and silly to tote it from place to place. It was over 400 dollars of loose change.
  17. The minute Avinash made that wager I looked at my husband and said “He just lost.”
  18. I watch the game to see what I know. I don’t have any stake in what the players do unless its a long streak.
  19. Ken is doing a great job as a host and I would enthusiastically support him as the permanent host. He’s really quick and witty. I don’t care at all about his voice, in fact, I like that’s its not a traditional game show host voice. Jeopardy really means something to Ken and the job should be his.
  20. Let’s not forget Miranda’s limp attempt at trying to “fix things” with Steve consisted of trying to recreate her kitchen bang with Che and when Steve couldn’t measure up to the Che fantasy in Miranda’s mind, she dropped the whole thing without a second thought. Just gross.
  21. I don’t know….I’ve been rewatching old SATC shows and to be honest, what happened here doesn’t seem to be so out of character for Steve and Miranda’s relationship. She pretty much always seemed like she was settling for him. Maybe she was able to deal with it because raising Brady was front and center for a long time but now its not and she is having a bit of a midlife crisis. It does strike me as somewhat realistic unfortunately. However, I dislike Miranda big time for hurting a very good guy (who she doesn’t realize she is lucky to have because face it, I’ve seen lots of marriages and relationships that will never be even half as comfortable and secure as hers seemed to be). So I was disappointed that the episode ended and I was unable to get the schaden of seeing Miranda discover Che with someone else in Cleveland. I certainly hope that happens because sorry, Miranda, but I simply dislike you now. I find you pathetic in so many ways.
  22. I actually read the FJ quote in an article a while ago but the clue was pretty easy even without that knowledge. Amy does seem a bit tired but she also manages to pull off a big lead by the time FJ rolls around. I’ve only seen her challenged once in the recent past. I hope she keeps going. I love streaks and I’d like to see her pass Matt.
  23. Amy truly baffles me with her FJ answers lately. That was one of the easiest FJ in living memory and the movie is constantly on. I guess if you don’t know what the Paper Chase is. But Never Been Kissed wasn’t even a 2000s movie. If you tally up all the money Amy has lost on FJ its a formidable amount.
  24. It’s one of the things that fascinates me most about this show. Everyone is SO INTENSE about this one niche thing besides the fact that they seem to competing in a category which they have a 50/50 percent chance of winning (which Netflix doesn’t make nearly as clear as they probably should) there’s just not much beyond it. No real professional cheerleading opportunities. Seeing how dangerous it is and how toxic the environment can be it’s really hard not to ask “What’s the point.” It sure makes for a great Netflix show, though.
