  1. Sam is rapidly becoming a major favorite of mine. And he DOES look like Steve Martin!
  2. I could not disagree more. That is how Diana acted. It was what she was known for. Her performance is crazy good. If she didn’t do those things people would be whining about the character acted nothing like Diana.
  3. That is not the same kind of opening up as a true caring friendship. Dropping comments and hints to an audience that will be surprised and uncomfortable is just not the same thing.
  4. I’m so sick of the obligatory Margaret episode. They are all the same in every season. Same whiny Margaret.
  5. I thought this was going to be a boring episode but I loved it. Elizabeth Debickie is SO FREAKIN’ good as Princess Diana. They actually have her hair right in this one. My god do the actors do an amazing job.
  6. Ok at least half of that trailer isn’t even in the final movie. I want to see the deleted scenes!
  7. “Now get your bony ass out of my sight!”
  8. Except they didn’t run it right after stage 3. According to Flip, they ran it the next night and he thought it was a disadvantage because people would be sore.
  9. He won it last year too and these were his first two years of competing. Pretty good salary for a 16 year old.
  10. Yes. I guess viewers were extremely lucky to see both Geoff and Isaac make it up in the limit one after the other. That was obviously pretty special.
  11. “Do you love it or do you hate it?” ”love it?” ”So do I! But Mark thinks it looks like Nicaragua and that we're making some kind of statement.” “oh no! It’s like paradise. It’s like a paradise with little gold palm trees.”
  12. “You look terrific….you might want to rethink the jewelry” I’ll just be over here providing random quotes. She was like a Whitley Gilbert 30. If you wear that kind of clothing constantly (a bit like Kate Middleton honestly) it will age the heck out of you, classy or not.
  13. One of my favorite movies ever. ”I think so…we’re in the same city now, I’ve indicated that I’m receptive to an offer, I’ve cleared the month of June and I am after all, me.” i have this movie completely memorized.
  14. This was really really good. I loved the footage of the regular Brits arguing about her. The ones playing cards the night she died were so blasé about it when she was “gravely injured” but the second they announced she died they were totally shocked and dropped everything to sit in front of the television. This was maybe the best documentary I’ve seen on Princess Diana. I loved how there were no contemporary talking heads telling us what to think.
  15. Ok, after going back and rereading the rescue it does appear Howard accurately depicted the third day, right downs to the rain starting and then one of the pumps failing right before the last SEAL got out. I had totally forgotten this and assumed he added it in for dramatic impact. It does appear he really didn’t change anything for dramatic impact (unless coach Ek coming out after the boys counts as drama, he actually elected to go out first on that third day). One of the most incredible true stories I’ve ever heard of.
  16. Here is a conversation with Dr. Harris you’d really enjoy. He also wrote a book, which I read called Against All Odds. I’d recommend this one and especially Rick Stanton’s Aquanaut, in which he discusses all his other cave rescues interspersed with this main story. They are excellent.
  17. One change they made that I thought was sort of interesting was they said the coach came out after all the boys. That wasn’t how it happened in reality. Stanton was a little surprised that the coach asked to be taken out before several of the boys (I think on the third day though). He did a fantastic job with them and it wasn’t his fault the rains came early but I wonder if they made that change because it didn’t reflect that well on him and they wanted to avoid criticism of the coach. In reality, the final boy out was named Mark and he was the smallest and had to wear that pink mask. That was all accurate.
  18. I’ve seen the documentaries, read the books written by Harris and Stanton, listened to all the podcasts. This movie was excellent. Some stuff was changed (the boys’ names, for one) and the last day of the rescue was made a little more suspenseful (it did not take place during a rainstorm like depicted here…..the monsoons basically hit right after the rescue was done and completely flooded everything). But it was still an incredibly accurate account.
  19. I’d love to see flashback sequences to parallel the relationship then and now and showing Anne’s growth from meek and easily persuaded to making her own decisions. That would have been a far better adaptation than one that adds cheeky modern language and glances at the camera and calls it a fresh take on the material. That’s not new or fresh and its certainly not a reimagining. There are far better ways to have the story feel fresh and to have the romance work. I like Dakota Johnson though. I knew after 50 Shades she’s have a career despite everyone being certain she would not.
  20. I freakin love this podcast. It’s a staple for me especially around Halloween when I take my walks.
  21. Yeah, and note who Angelia wanted when she called home for help. Not Graham. Patty. The most competent, capable adult on the show.
  22. I’m no longer watching this show because I can’t deal with the constant maudlin storylines but this scene popped up on my YouTube and I watched it and I burst out laughing too. She’s blind, infertile, gets hit by a drunk driver 10 seconds after leaving her husband forever. And he didn’t say goodbye? This show has a real problem with trying so hard to make people cry. It’s supposed to be something that happens a lot more naturally than this. This is ridiculous and has been for a while now. I only follow the story through the forums because I did watch for several years and want to know how they end this miserable narcissistic family’s story. I don’t even know why anymore.
  23. Bingeing this again now. I will always be so angry I never got to see what happened. I do remember reading a few recaps of this show on television without pity and they always dumped heavily on Patty. But on my rewatch, yeah, I can see it sometimes but most of the time I felt Graham was picking fights by being so damn sensitive all the time. He got so offended when she didn’t react exactly how he wanted her to. He just seemed so high maintenance while she had to do all the crappy adult things no one else wanted to do. Team Patty. The best thing about this show is I relate to it differently in every stage of life. I used to think the parent parts were so boring and now with a 15 year old of my own, it’s like EXACTLY what I need.
  24. This is basically every romance novel.
  25. I always think of Polly Walker as Jane Fairfax in the Gwyneth Paltrow version of Emma.
