I figured they’d do Colin/Pen next. It’s either that or another torturous season of boneheadedness and longing glances. They need to give Pen someone else or have her withdraw in some other way and have that be what makes Colin realize his feelings. Give her some dignity FFS.

The fact that no one can identify the song played during the Bridgerton family dance is driving me absolutely crazy. Why is not on the soundtrack? The score? WHYYYY.

So I’ve rewatched both seasons and I’m wondering where were the sexual innuendos in what Penelope as LW wrote? I didn’t see anything particularly eyebrow-raising. A reference to being pregnant after having a honeymoon (in season one)is hardly something she wouldn’t have been aware of. And as Penelope is always reading a book she likely gets a lot of her ideas and phrasing from that source.

I noticed the same thing. I guess with the first season there really was nothing to Daphne except she wanted to have kids. She was really like a self-insert for the audience. Even in season one Anthony had more personality quirks than Daphne, even if they made him look like a jerk.

Yup, its made perfectly clear in the 1995 version anyway that in his embarrassment after Lizzy’s rejection, Mr. Collin literally asks the first woman he can think of just so he can say he found a wife like Lady Catherine told him to and Charlotte accepts mostly out of desperation.

Anthony had flashbacks showing how he was expected to take over after his father’s death. I don’t think the show wanted to then also insert flashbacks of Kate also taking over after her father’s death. That would have been repetitive. Perhaps Kate after her mother’s death, but then flashback to what? Her perfectly loving new stepmother? I think the show tries to be sparing with the flashbacks and Anthony got them this season (Simon got them last season).

Yes, to me she doesn’t like him because he’s treating the courtship of Edwina like more of a competition with Kate that he has to win no matter what, and not a respectful courtship. I wouldn’t trust that either.

I’m on my third rewatch. Taking it one episode per night. I also rewatched season one. Now that was interesting because there was really no chemistry between Simon and Daphne. I don’t think the acting was as strong as it is in season 2. I liked looking at Simon but I did not buy the relationship at all. It looks even worse as he’s not around in season 2. Kind of makes it look like he’s not that into being a husband and father after all. Unfortunate.

Benedict is a bit taller and larger framed and has a much different face. Honestly, just because two people have dark hair doesn’t make them similar.

Anthony had an affair with the opera singer. Benedict had the dressmaker affair.

My question it’s why is her wig a reverse mullet? Its longer on the sides than in the back. Her bangs were a little longer which I think is an improvement on last season. Her posture cracks me up,its so very modern.

I read an article that said the actress had commitments to another TV show so that’s why she disappears halfway through. Otherwise she would have been more heavily featured.

But we don’t know what she writes. She could out herself in that next column for all we know right now.

And Edward sucks his venom out of Bella! Like BookAnthony and the bee venom. SO glad they changed that.

Oh, yeah, I don’t know how she’d know about P/C’s story being next. Idon’t know if she is a book reader. She could have presumed that they were next because their storyline is fairly prominent this season. I would assume the exact same if I didn’t know the order of the books.

If RJP had agreed to be in it, I think he would have a storyline in season 2 so I don’t think its speculation on her part. It doesn’t have to be a main storyline. She is under contract for future seasons. And since I adore them, I am stoked about this. I’ve even seen that Edwina may have a storyline and I’d like that too. She grew on me after she moved out of robot mode.

I saw a interview somewhere where the actor who plays Colin was talking of he and Nicola’s terror at having to play the romantic leads when their season comes and I have to say I sympathize. I would be SO STRESSED about living up to the expectations especially if I were to read opinions of how it’ll never work (especially following RJP and Johnny Bailey). Yikes. I don’t envy those actors at all.

I hope they do! And I’d love another Kate and Anthony story because I absolutely loved them both. Honestly I also wouldn’t mind combining Benedict and P/C. But I prefer the smolder of Anthony. I didn’t like him much after season one but lord, did Bailey bring it in season 2. I did see a well reasoned post either here or Reddit where someone argued Pen needed a redemption arc season where she grows up a bit before they get into the P/C match and I thought, yeah that could work. But my initial reaction was they really needed to get to it. It’s too important in the show not to be addressed. Unless they wanted to give her an arc with another man to show some personal growth no one wants to see her mooning over Colin all season and his obliviousness yet again.

I agree they did a really good job explaining Anthony’s motivations and what made him tick. They didn’t just tell, they really showed it and it was bolstered by an excellent performance from Jonathan Bailey.

Please pull up a chair next to me and we can rewatch the bee sting scene over and over again because DAMN.

The one thing I refuse to fault Pen for is not helping her family out. Like you say, she probably could but she’d definitely have to account for where in the world it came from. Why invite that hassle? Plus, if I were her there is NO WAY I’d share my hard-earned money with those three. They act like Pen is beneath them, she’s told to shut up whenever she opens her mouth, and she’s generally ignored or treated like an afterthought and that’s putting it kindly. I’d be saving my money up for a way out of there.

The whole being forced to marry thing is basically a retread of season one and I am SO GLAD the show didn’t go in those tired waters again. I understand why they made the choices they made.

I hope it means they start combining because there’s no way they’re getting 8 seasons out of this when the final books are about people are literally children now.even if they recast the show is not “about” them and no one is going to be invested in say, Hyacinth.

I love Penelope as a character. I don’t need my show characters to be only good to be worth rooting for. Lord knows I am complex and have many unpleasant facets of my personality and I enjoy seeing it reflected in others.
