Good morning!  I have a question for anybody this morning.  Mother's day is approaching and I'm curious if you gift your daughters and daughters in law?

I haven't in the past but was thinking about doing that this year.  A monetary gift for something special they would like.

The problem is I don't want to get in between the gifting my grandchildren do to their parents!

I was buying a card for my friends birthday and happened upon mother's day cards and saw daughter and daughter in law.  Something I never thought of doing.

My husband and I decided when we first had children we wouldn't gift each other because we never wanted our gifts from our children of plaster hands and cards to be outshined by bought gifts.

    Thanks for any input!

I started giving my DILs and sons a combined Mother's Day and Father's Day gift. One year I got them Garrett's popcorn and Fannie Mae chocolates, this year I ordered a gift box of Girl Scout cookies.  I used to gift separately and give the girls a pot of flowers for their porch and the boys some BBQ spices or such.

I've made it a point to tell them that since they're parents now they should celebrate with their kids. My mother always said the same for me. In fact, the day before she died was Mother's Day and I was visiting her in her rehab facility. She wasn't feeling well and after about 30 minutes she told me to go home to my own kids. I stayed because she wasn't doing well, but I appreciated the thought.

Especially when the school probably has real social distancing policies in place and that wedding does not.

I don't think missing your brother's wedding is a big deal when you have 10 of them plus a cousin your parents are raising and 8 sisters. With as big as the family is, it's inevitable that not everyone will make every wedding. They even said that at one of the weddings. I can't remember if it was Jill's or Jessa's.

She might have been there, but skipping the out-of-state, COVID spreading, teenage wedding sound likes okay to me.

I can't imagine Joe and Kendra went either so Jill wouldn't have been the only one missing.

  3. My 3 year old granddaughter has been going to in school preschool (speech requirement) since October with few closures. She is better at wearing a mask than some adults. As a way to get kids used to wearing a mask, my DIL heard that parents allow their kids video game time as long as they wear a mask. Easy way to get them used to it.

@iwantcookies:  a correction to my post:  it should read “I don’t add nuts to my brownies....”. Sorry for the confusion.  However, when I make brownie bites in my little mini cupcake machine (kind of like a waffle maker), I have been known to top them off with a dollop of cookies and cream frosting .  When I make them in this little machine, they’re done in 5-6 minutes.  I think I’ll have to make brownies tomorrow....

What is a mini cupcake machine?

Just one more post on music from me.  I love Country and the CMA Awards show!

My favorite group is Little Big Town.   The year they sang Wichita Lineman I could not get enough of it.  I hummed and played it over and over on YouTube!

My other very favorite CMA Award show performance was Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler singing and performing Walk This Way!  That was a performance!!!

Speaking of music my daughter was telling me about something you buy, plug in and that you speak to and it plays your chosen song.  Anybody have any experience with that?

Do you mean something like Alexa? My son has one and when I babysit I just say "Alexa, play kid's music". I have also asked for a specific song, but mostly things like "Elmo's song" and "Wheels on the bus" . 😆
