Salem International: Casting Notes: Arrivals & Departures
FnkyChkn34 replied to radishcake's topic in Days Of Our Lives
Maybe all the rest of the cast has been brainwashed, not Will - and one of two things happens. (1) He didn't die, because they were all brainwashed, and he just returns from being somewhere and wonders what the heck is going on. Or, (2) Will is a collective figment of the entire town's imagination, because they've all been brainwashed and are having the same hallucinations. -
Season 5 will premiere on September 27, 2017. I can't even begin to take a guess - all new showrunner, new writers, Derek Haas is out, Sophia Bush is out, we have no idea who is in to replace her (if anyone), and where is Jon Seda? Maybe they can bring back Jon and Nick Weschler and just turn the show into an all-male revue. ;-) All kidding aside, I have no idea, but all the changes do concern me a bit too. I've come to really like this show just like you, so I don't want it to be ruined either.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

Billy Flynn is ok, but not great IMO. I know others disagree, but I still just don't see him as Chad, and that's my hold-up for him. Mary Beth is good, and Kristian has her moments. Deidre is getting worse, IMO. Camilla is a no, with all the teens but Theo... And Christopher doesn't get good enough material for me to even tell. I've never seen his other show, but I hear he was good in it. Suzanne Rogers is pretty good too, but again - no screen time. -

Please let me know where that good acting has gone. :-) I think the best actors on the show right now have some of the smallest parts - Dario comes to mind, and I always liked Victor. But the majority of the leads are just so-so on their best days. Kayla and Steve might be the exceptions because they are better than so-so, at least usually. Anyone else? Meh. -

Thanks! (That actual phrase doesn't make much sense to me in this context, but I get the meaning.) :-) -

I'm sorry, I must be getting old - what is "YMMV"? I understand that you have differing opinions on the topic of Chad and Gabi, so it must mean something like "we'll agree to disagree"? -
Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

Ditto here - I'm not interested either. All of these "couples" bore me. There's no adventure, no romance, no suspense, no good evil villains... There's just... blah. -
Yes, I commented the same thing to a friend! I thought maybe it was a plot device - like groundhog's day. It's the same day over and over so he's always wearing the same thing for the audience to get confused? But that didn't seem to be the case. Just a lazy wardrobe department...

Kyle Chandler made John likable, even though he shouldn't have been likable. I felt his torment and anguish, and desire to do the right thing and "fix" everything yet make mistakes. Chandler made John truly a great character, in my opinion, because I was still able to root for a "bad" guy and not think he was so bad... He needs an(other) Emmy.
-
I second that! The three brothers are all fantastic actors. Note to casting directors - just call Kyle Chandler. Whatever the role is, he'll knock it out of the park.
-
I definitely mean Casey Deidrick. I can take or leave either of the Abby actresses, Kate or Marci. But Casey will always be Chad to me. Oh well.

There wasn't? They all have all of their luggage, don't they? She could be taking her pills. I mean, that would be completely uncharacteristic and totally not-soap-like, but it's a possibility. -
I know we all say "I'm probably the only one who thinks this..." but I probably really am the only one who thinks this, and that's ok. I'm alright being in the minority. . . . I miss the old Chad AND the old Abby. Casey and what's-her-face was a couple I rooted for. Now? Meh. Don't really care. I acknowledge that nuAbby is the better actress, but I just don't care anymore. That could easily be because the previous actress (Kate?) kinda wasn't that great and she and the writers ruined the character, but I don't really know. Maybe I just don't believe in them being the OTP and I'm over it. Maybe it's also because I still don't buy Billy Flynn as a Dimera. He's too... nice.
-
I thought Kevin had told her about Marco, so she already knew? Hence why she was frantically trying to call John and then got drunk? And John also knew that she was worthless to give blood; her BAC was probably still through the roof.
-
I was completely confused as to what I was watching, but I didn't entirely hate the episode. Even if it was just thrown in as Emmy-fodder or not, Kyle Chandler could act out the phone book and I'd watch it.
-
Wait, sorry, but who is "Chabi"? I think you've mixed it up? I always thought Chad + Gabi = Chabi, and Chad + Abby = Chabby. But I think you mean Chabby is the OTP under Higley? Portmanteaus... I hate them. :-)

Brady/Nicole? Rafe/Hope? The list could go on and on. Quite frankly, I think Paul/Sonny is the least probable. The writers just don't seem to like them, plus I agree that they wouldn't get married if Will is back. But, is Will back? Maybe he's just a ghost who visits Sonny and gives him his blessing... who knows, actually. -
I'm late to this party, but isn't John running for sheriff because Wayne is blackmailing him? If John becomes sheriff, he can not prosecute Wayne and therefore Wayne will keep his mouth shut, yeah? I haven't read ahead; no idea of I'm right, but this is what seemed obvious to me.
-
Well... - GoT spoiler alert - ;-) They tried their best, but that one was obvious. Have you heard the story where Kit talked his way out of a speeding ticket by telling the cop whether "he" was alive or dead?
-
I thought the same thing. I was totally creeped out. John was yelling that Sarah was too young to go out with Danny, and that she had to be with an adult. After witnessing their parent's fight, Danny said he and John were the only adults there. They both probably should have had life jackets. I thought I heard someone say early on in the season that Sarah was 9 when she died. I think the order is Danny, John, Kevin, Sarah, Meg.

I think I'm going to be in the minority on a Theresa return, too. Again, a fine actress, but didn't care for the character. She just didn't seem to fit in anywhere, and I didn't like her with Brady. Her complete character redemption was just too... forced. Not sure the word I'm looking for. Contrived? Whatever it was, I never liked her. -
Well, I think if no one hears anything during summer hiatus, fans just assume it's status quo and a character will be back. Fans probably don't even bother to think about it much. But that's not always the case. I'm sure there are plenty of examples where TPTB were able to keep a departure under wraps. It is getting much harder in the digital age with social media, but it can still be done. Take Connie Britton leaving Nashville, for example. She even flat out lied in interviews and said she was sticking around when everyone involved knew she was leaving. We also haven't heard anything on the 4 characters in jeopardy on Chicago Fire. Are we to automatically assume they are all safe? I guess I'll believe that when they are all seen filming on set again for episode 2 of the new season. I can definitely see where a cliffhanger is needed when there are contract negotiations going on, but they are supposed to be done for suspense. Just because we don't usually buy them doesn't mean that's what the writers want. ;-)
-
I think Meloni's situation was different, and here, there is a cliffhanger. No matter how minor of one it may be now, it's still there. The show won't want to do anything more to further ruin that.
-
For some reason, a thought popped in my head the other day... No one is going to confirm this either way - no matter what, no matter how many people ask, etc. A confirmation ruins their "cliffhanger." NBC sure won't comment, and Sophia won't just out of respect for the show/industry.
