  1. Very curious about the educational and other requirements of her force. DH is a LEO and hiring in our metro area is extremely competitive for newbies. MH evaluations, neighbors interviewed as character references. Incredibly deep background search. Good for her though. 21 is the minimum age here to take the POST exam.
  2. Nose piercing is not limited to fundies. DD is 17 many, many of her friends have a pierced nostril. She keeps asking. We keep saying no.
  3. Our son was born the day after our fifth wedding anniversary. I always stutter on which is the correct DOB for him. Poor second kid.
  4. It was 48 in MPLS today. They're forecasting between 1-18 inches of snow over the next several days. I give up.
  5. Interesting theory, makes sense. My doc said much the same re: forceps deliveries just before delivering DD with "salad tongs." Lol. Three hours pushing, one gentle guide of her head with forceps and DD was born. We'll not discuss pelvic floor repair at this juncture however.
  6. Our forecasted 9 inches of snow was downgraded to 1-2. We're expected to hit 60 degrees F by Wednesday. Could it be Spring?
  7. This thread title makes me sad. Can't even snark about these two. It would be too mean.
  8. DD made it for a FACS class assignment. FACS (Family and Consumer Science) used to commonly be called Home Ec.
  9. You're terrible, Kokapetl. Sit by me.
  10. Happy Easter! I had a lovely week in Mexico with my daughter and friends, returning home this past Wednesday. The weather, food, beach, booze and company were awesome. So good to get the chance to decompress and soak up vitamin D. I read three good books and one trashy book and caught a barracuda. My work email "only" contained 489 new items. It snowed four inches here Friday night. Ugh. Wishing you and yours a day of friends, family and faith (if that's your jam ?).
  11. Memories! When expecting, MIL told us to call her before we left for the hospital with our first so she'd have time to put on her makeup. She wanted to look good for pictures. After I stopped laughing, I clarified that only those present for the conception were to be present the day of delivery. She didn't buy it. The day DD was delivered, we didn't tell anyone on DH's side we'd gone in. The wonderful OB nurse put up a huge "mother-in-law net" sign on the door to keep out any sightseers. After we'd been out of touch twelve hours, she started calling hospitals to see if I'd been admitted. She didn't show up, but two sisters-in-law did. The sign kept them out.
  12. Sounds like my BIL. Public school, but no dances or activities other than sports. No dating. Went to college on an athletic scholarship and smoked, drank and screwed his way out of that scholarship the first two years. Ended up at a small state college the last two years, finished and established himself. Is now a holy roller, as is my sister, both pretty much intolerable and insufferable hypocrites. I feel for their kids as this standard has been put upon them.
  13. Oh! March Madness! A local urologist used to advertise vasectomy specials this time of year. Guys get the snip and have the excuse to lay around with a bag of frozen peas on their junk, watching basketball. I wonder if Josh and Derrick like basketball. ?
  14. Aren't you supposed to post good pictures in photo contests? He's cute, she looks deranged, ready to snap. Perhaps already 'round the bend?
  15. Hope you blew him out of the water in a controlled, factual way.
  16. Will they invite Marjorie's family to the wedding? What is the protocol?
  17. I can't read the word "Santorum" without giggling and thinking of Dan Savage's contest for definitions. Check out Wikipedia or Urban Dictionary if you don't know what I'm referring to.
  18. We did this when the kids were 7 & 4. They end up getting tossed when they either rot or the cat swats them off the counter. lol.
  19. Wow. A co-worker is in labor tonight, induced due to high blood pressure. We've all been mother-henning her the past six months and are glad the end is in sight. Safely. In a hospital. Being monitored. By medical professionals.
