Sorry, I must have missed that! I thought it was new news because Alexander only tweeted about it earlier today.

Since I’m fairly certain I remember reading a conversation about when Alexander will do his first con here’s the answer

A million years late to the party, but I took that headline as a casual remark about the episode having Dean make false confessions about his treatment of women, which he was then "forgiven" for rather than a legitimate comment on his character. My understanding (and without getting too spoilery I don't think canon has contradicted it since?) is that the coven wasn't completely decimated. It still existed and was known to the world witch community as a great power. However, this is all just an image they're projecting to protect their reputation and in reality their power was long since stripped. So the Coven would still be able to order around minor witches like the one from About A Boy who don't know about the true state of things. They're a fallen power relying on the reputation they gained in their heyday and a good poker fight to maintain the little power they still have.

I would say the current cast hiearchy, based on the credits, is: - Jared Padalecki (Id say him and Jensen are pretty much evenly regarded in every way that matters, but he is placed first on a technicality since he’s first on the call sheet). - Jensen Ackles - Misha Collins (He has the AND credit. On any other show his credit would actually be better than Jensen’s, but since he’s only in 11-13/23 episodes he’s still far below J2. In addition to this, he seems to be involved in more promotional material such as Comic Con and interviews than Mark and Alexander) - Alexander Calvert (He comes before Mark in the credits) - Mark Pellegrino

Putting this in here since it is technically speculating on the future of the show, but it’s in no way based on the spoilers we’ve gotten so far. With regard to the dynamic of the show I don’t think the show will ever become a true ensemble. I don’t think it’ll ever be a situation where we have Sam, Dean, Jack, Lucifer and Castiel in every single episode pursuing their individual storylines. However, I do think the episodes that consist of just Sam, Dean and the random people of the week will continue to dramatically drop. Instead while they won’t all be in every episode I’d say at least one regular will be in most episodes. This is similar to last year where the only episodes to not star at least one series regular were - 4,5,6,11, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 And this further drops to - 4,5,11, 16, 18 If you subtract Episodes starring Mary who was a series regular in all but name last year. And this year so far there hasn’t been a single episode that hasn’t starred at least one of Cas, Jack or Lucifer.

Well it is the closest to an ensemble this show will go since the poster contains J2 and the three currents series regulars. I honestly can’t see the show ever becoming a true ensemble in the sense that someone other than J2 will be in every episode. ETA: I put some further thoughts on this in the Speculation thread. It has no reference to released spoilers or even storylines in general, so it’s pretty safe for anyone to look at :)

What I might find interesting is the fact everyone but Dean is looking straight ahead at the viewer. Is the Dean pic meant to be side eying Lucifer? Haha

I guess it’s a matter of perspective. To me Dean at the centre suggests he’s the lead. Kind of like Dean’s the king and the others are his guard of honour haha. Although I do think it’s probably more along the lines of what you said about it relating to which episode the character is significant in than some sort of message about the shows leads haha.

Could Cas even have killed Dean? I don't mean in the "can he kill his best friend sense", but could he have physically killed Dean using the blade? I thought the first blade and the mark of Cain were intimately linked so the first blade would be the same as any other blade in Castiel's hand? I know the whole thing is moot now since we've seen Dean freed from the mark without that being required, but I sometimes like to speculate on what ifs haha.

But Robbie Thompson did remember the possession of Sam by Meg? In that scene there was a direct reference to it, something along the lines of "I've been inside you, seen all your delicate thoughts and feelings?". They probably could have better played the emotional trauma of that, but they definitely remember that it happened!

Magical items have always worked in the land without magic, so I’m going to assume that the flowers retrieved from Lady Tremaine had magical properties and they were the source of the magic rather than Mophead Witch. It would explain why they had to use those flowers rather than random flowers from a florist and why MW was all “it’s been too long since I was kept from this”. At least that’s my theory anyway :)

Sadly, I don’t think that will ever happen. As I said to Aeryn, rightly or wrongly, the show has developed the attitude of “no one knows Sam and Dean better than Jared and Jensen”. So if Jensen’s perception of Dean is that he’s a messy eater, or it’s funny to make him one at least, then no one is going to challenge Jensen on that. In the earlier years of the show they would have but certainly not now. Since we know they can switch lines, rewrite scenes they don’t like, change the way they portray things i.e soft and annoyed as opposed to heatedly angry etc without being opposed then how Dean eats is pretty low key in comparison.

Assuming the theory this is a Jensen ad lib is correct (I’m not saying it is definitely right I’m just playing devils advocate) then them keeping it in makes sense to me. By all accounts the people behind the show “trust Jared and Jensen”. We’ve heard tales of them switching lines with each other, we’ve heard tales of them rewriting lines they felt were out of character, we’ve heard of them adding actions to scenes or changing a scripted “angry” to something softer. By all accounts it seems like J2 can pretty much get away with anything they want with the exception of changing the arc for the season as a whole. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. I get the impression no one is really going to challenge them on something as small as how Dean eats, even if they should.

Heh, I wouldn’t be surprised if the person asking was one of those fans who think J2 are a couple and secretly raising the kids together. With that frame of mind the question is fitting as they’d be /their/ kids. To avoid misunderstanding I in no way hold that view of J2 relationship (in a general sense not romantic lol) myself.

A question for the Dean fans who pay a lot more attention than me... Have we seen him sleep in the past? I vaguely remember a few motel room scenes, but can’t remember if we see him sleep or just him being woken. And if we have seen him sleep is he generally a snorer or is that just from being so inebriated? Lol

It’s interesting how even it is so far :) . I’ll be curious to see what it’s like by seasons end.

I thought it it was a reference to the original tale where the witch fattens them up before eating them. More meat to enjoy and all that. He has also been drunk during Party On Garth. Although he had to be drunk for the case and it wasn't anything to do with Deans alcoholism. I'm just pointing it out as another instance where we've seen him drunk :)

True, but short of bringing back a former writer (something we can’t forsee) they’re the most likely option if Wayward is also picked up. We’ve been told the episode writing order is generally based on seniority. I’d say this means at the moment its - Dabb (Show Runner) - Berens (He also seems set to show run the spin off if it’s picked up since he’s writingvall the related eps this season) - BuckLemming Then the rest of the staff are only on their second year with the show.

Here’s a scary thought.. BuckLemming are next in line to take over if Dabb leaves and the spin off is taken over by Berens.

I personally think a big problem with Cas and Crowleys independent storylines is the fact they insist on having them around angels and demons all the time. I’ve been a long term advocate of human Cas with other human allies for the simple fact that with only a few exceptions the angels and demons are quite boring. The vast majority of the shows beloved characters are the human ones. Imagine how much better it could have been if instead of endless throne room scenes for Crowley or Cas and Hannah wandering the country those times were spent on them interacting with the likes of Bobby, Ellen, Kevin, Jody, Donna etc.

Yeah, I’m hoping it’ll be the full 13 since we’ve already wasted 3 episodes on one scene non speaking roles, but sadly I’m expecting the worst :(

I think the show is going to present the happiness of Dean next week as being a result of two things. 1. The return of Castiel in and of itself - Castiel is his best friend, so why wouldn’t he be happy about that? 2. We are going to see a turn around in regards to his opinion of Mary’s fate. We’ve seen Dean begin to waver about her fate, for instance he was about to ask Billie instead of just assuming she was 100% dead as he had in earlier episodes. I think the return of Castiel is going to raise his hopes of Mary being alive too and he is going to join Sam on the “Mary is alive” bandwagon. So no longer mourning Mary, but simply working to get her back cheers his mood.

Fair enough. I just replied there because I was responding to the original poster who had made their post in that thread. I was just trying to point out that even if he did move into the bunker Cas wouldn’t appear in every episode. He’d be written out via methods such as a quick mention of “Cas is off dealing with such and such” or the brothers would be on the road while Cas is back at the bunker. Sorry for the confusion.
