  1. I'm a special education teacher and before my current position, I taught for 10 years in a large residential facility in Philadelphia. All the name plates were in braille. Everything from the pool to the principals office to name plates. It's amazing what's out there for people woth special needs.
  2. Love her. Local girl, Emmaus Pennsylvania. One celebrity I could see myself being friends with, huge animal lover. I remember Naveen as Diana's Pakistani doctor boyfriend from the Naomi Watts Diana movie. I love him, so excellent in both roles. This was my favorite episode. The Walgreen guys were great! Love Alan...when Cameron was in Egypt land...let my Cameron go..." haha. The CFO too, very realistic to me, and is the Florida scientist the Wall Street friend from The Devil Wears Prada?
  3. Me too. It was kinda slow and I had trouble getting into it, but I'm now hooked and loving Renee's performance! I'm in awe of how horrible Pam is, I mean, I feel like I need a shower after watching. True evil and awful to everyone, so fake. Just the worst person. Scary to think how many people are hiding a true monster beneath a totally ordinary, everyday façade. Pam's soda habit (bizarre, Dr. Pepper with gobs of cherry syrup) is kind of gross to me. Fountain coke with cherry on occasion is really yummy, a childhood favorite. But the way Pam consumes them is crazy, no wonder she gained weight. Oh, absolutely! Same mannerisms too!
  4. https://www.eatnpark.com/ So, I was curious and kind of craving those Smiley cookies, so I googled Eat n Park. Yep, they actually still exist in Pennsylvania and Ohio. I'm on the other side of PA (heh, actually near the supposed and to me, comical cabin location...near Bethlehem, not Poconos, lol!) and it appears most are in western and west central Pennsylvania. Altoona, Butler, and of course several in the Pittsburgh area, including the Pearson hometown of Bethel Park. Above, a sad picture of the defunct State College location. It closed in 2015. Yeah, the cookies were indeed sugary (overly so), but they really hit the spot after a night of partying, booze, and a greasy "hangover breakfast", oh to be young again. 😉 About the wasted sandwiches, I totally noticed that too. Annoying, but happens all the time on tv. The Bachelor is the worst.
  5. Yes, this was the first time that I saw Mandy as Rebecca who had aged and the young and middle aged woman she'd been. Before I saw Rebecca as Mandy Moore in prosthetics, more or less. I remember watching Saving Mr. Banks, I really love that movie. Tom Hanks came on as Walt Disney and I was like, um sure. However, about 1/4 through the movie, I completely believed Tom as Walt. My mom said that I "swallowed the pill". So, yeah, it took 6 years to buy old Rebecca! She did a great job last night and deserves an Emmy, but the field, now in days, is so stacked.
  6. Yeah, I watched with my dad and he said, "oh, they're husband and wife?"
  7. Yeah. My husband went to Penn State main campus in the mid 90s. I used to visit him and even lived there in spring 97. I loved the breakfast and then we'd get yellow and pink happy face cookies. So delicious and I'm not even a fan of those frosted sugar cookies. Miss it. I wonder if the whole chain disappeared like so many things do. My thoughts: lol with Malik's Boston setup and Randall's Philadelphia setup, they're exactly the same set. And it's the same set used for Sophie in NYC. It's rather hilarious, especially when they show it mere minutes later!
  8. Yes Debraran, when I saw Cassidy in the preview for next week and thought about my ideas for writing my post, I thought: darn, I know Debra really really wants Sophie for Kevin! I love VR btw, miss it. I'm thinking Kate glides down the staircase just her regular self, Phillip loves her for who she is. Yeah, regarding Nicky, my mom had the same thoughts as you,
  9. So, my guesses Kevin marries Cassidy Nicky, who once dreamed of being a doctor and was a medic in Vietnam, is Rebecca's caretaker and living in the original cabin. Phillip music teacher serenades Kate with "Kiss Me" as she walks down the stairs ala She's All That.
  10. Yep, their favorite (Jack & Kate's) was banana pudding, yuck. Apparently the house uses the Bethlehem (PA) police force (when Rebecca got lost) but it's in the Poconos and they drove there are all the from Pittsburgh (6 hours). I live between Bethlehem and Philadelphia and Bethlehem isn't the Poconos. Scranton or Wilkes-Barre, not the Allentown/Bethlehem area.
  11. Good ole Valley of the Horses. Jondeler? My friend gushed about it when we were 16 in 1990, how hot it was, lol! I admittedly bought it at Encore Books (remember that?) and only reqd the sex scenes, oh to be 16. My cousin was a one time diabetes activist and wrote to Jean M Auel. She sent a curt reply that she was way too busy to deal with such things. But...at least she wrote? Judith Light wrote a long, beautiful letter. Many celebs had the fanclub send a pre autographed picture.
  12. You're not alone. "It looks like Pennsylvania", so Youngstown? Akron? I went to college near Dayton and went all over the state, spending time in Sharon Pennsylvania on the way back to the Philadelphia suburbs. It's right on the Ohio border. My friend Angel used to go to Ohio all the time. Also, lol, I figure it's February 1987, the movie posters. Gawd, I remember that time vividly. I was on the verge of 13. There indeed WAS a large snowstorm then. It's impressive how accurate the show presents clothing, furniture, tv shows, appliances, everything really. They don't even need me! I always thought I'd be great at reproducing different time periods for shows, good memory I guess.
  13. Heartfelt episode. Nice to see Marilyn had some happiness before she passed. Absolutely loved Cat Benetar! Sweetheart. 🥰 Fantastic casting. Man, the family resemblance between Marilyn, Debby, Kate, and young Kate. Crazy. I really hope we get Stan's story- why did he stzrt drinking and turn bad? And no Nicky at the funeral? Was he even told? The cut up hotdogs reminded me of eating lunch at my mom's friend's house in like 1979, age 5. She had two sons, one a year older (1973) and one a year younger. She gave me a plate of sliced hotdogs with ketchup all over them, I was utterly repulsed. I was like, "where's the bun?" The things we remember!
  14. I was kinda bored during this episode, especially the Randall and Deja parts. Nice to see young Jack again, obviously a very successful singer. The marriage of his parents "blew up" thanks to the Green Egg (there is a Green Egg seller down the street from me)...oh, and in 2045 or whenever we can still get huge hunks of red meat...or perhaps because Jack Damon is one of the "elite". I'll have to re-watch the opening scene and listen to the background voices again. I swear one was Rebecca's. So, Cassidy is back. I knew it was awfully odd to have her appear in season 4 as a main character and then...poof. This show does nothing casually. So, as a time buff I immediately honed in on the posters in the theater. I'm guessing it was February 1987 (I was nearly 13) as the movie poster for Black Widow with Debra Winger and Teresa Russell was shown (released February 1987) and Lady and the Tramp was re-released Christmas 1986 and was sure to still be in theaters in February. Did anyone else zero in on any other movie posters? Jack's mom died in early 1987. Makes sense as did he mention his mom being dead on the 1989 Thanksgiving episode with the motel and hotdogs. His dad died in 1989 when Rebecca and Kate went to see Turner and Hooch. Edit: I must admit I loved the use of Cat Stevens. My bff and I were obsessed with Cat Stevens Greatest Hits senior year, 92-93. We played it constantly. I do hope, however, that this last season picks up.
  15. Ugh. That baby! On Ally McBeal she'd dance with the creepy baby with that song!
  16. Thoughts on this episode: I couldn't help but notice Deja was tearing a tag on her dress that said "Fashion Style" on it. Lol. Generic much? I missed the Big 3, I guess I honestly thought it would be Phillip, Jack, Kate, and Hayley in the white car that beeped, before tonight, that is. Of course as this was a Nicky based episode, it was going to be his wife. I figured more on it being his wife than Malik. I mean, it was like the big mystery. I watched it with my 79 year old dad. He laughed at the dinner with Nicky. He was pretty much Nicky's opposite back then, probably more like Stan (Jack and Nicky's dad). My dad was so embarrassed for Nicky. But my, how Nicky has changed. So forthright now.
  17. Finally I don't think I've ever craved a show so much, lol. 😆 Some thoughts: I didn't like the child actress they chose for young Rebecca, looked nothing like Mandy Moore or like the previous child actress who was perfect. The young Tim Matheson look-alike was great though. So, we all saw the double take Kate's boss gave her. Wonder what grand thing Randall pursues (the newspaper article in last season's finale), definitely something with helping people. Nice seeing the flow from the first episode to now, well done! Gosh seems like yesterday. Lots of teasing with Madison and Kevin, hmmm. The Challenger Explosion, so hard. I was 12 and we weren't watching it. I was in music class and the other 5th grade teacher came in and threw his brief case on the table and said, "Shuttle blew up with the teacher, I was in the running to go up." You never forget stuff like that. I'm looking forward to this season! Sally next week! Oh and I'm sure Malik is Deja's baby daddy.
  18. Same, I think we're the same age too. 74?
  19. So yeah. Before I dig in enthusiastically reading all your commentary (just watched it, 6/9), I had to add my comment. So, I basically screamed at the end, with joy. I love him. Like major crush, loved him on A Million Little Things. His voice actually calms me. And I ask myself, why did I assume this entire time that Toby was going to leave Kate? I guess because I picked up on his tension with being a SAHD and the gym obsession maybe? His dad foreshadowing about "tension", as it related to the pipes in the ceiling? But anyway, no wonder Toby is so depressed in the future. Okay, questions, yes, I'm terribly late here. Are Kevin and Madison married 5 years in the future? They said the Big 3 were 45. Does Kevin still act? What's Randall up to? Mayor of Philadelphia? Will Deja join Malik at Harvard or will they go to Penn together? Looked like wherever Deja was doing her medical residency was in driving distance. As a native of the Philadelphia burbs who leaves now near Bethlehem (TIU's weak grasp on the geography of the Poconos), it's a very doable drive. Nicky has a wife! Sally? I cried when Rebecca asked Kevin to build her house. Big 3 Builders, finally. I've been waiting for that to come fruition for awhile. She mentioned that she's having trouble holding Jack in her memories. I know observant watchers on here mentioned that perhaps Nicky stands in for Jack as she doesn't remember him, or something to that effect. Tess looked gorgeous.
  20. Maybe not even "find" a script, but write a script for Kevin. Perhaps even about his life? It would certainly "open it all up", so to speak. Like a final deep cleanse for him. Sometimes we must really open ourselves to the past in order to move fully forward. Nicky, as we know, wears a wedding ring in the future. I'm pretty positive he reunites with pretty Sally at some point.
  21. It's DelCo, Delaware County, which is actually pretty nice, pretty upscale. Media, Wayne, Swarthmore, Chadds Ford...all near the Dupont/Brandywine Valley area. But yeah, to the east is more working class: Lansdowne, Upper Darby, Yeadon, Sharon Hill. Okay, I grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs myself (Bucks) and I actually thought at very first that it was Western Pennsylvania, rust belt, lol. They apparently filmed in Coatesville PA and Mare's split level is in Wallingford PA. Very, very typical suburban Philadelphia house. The house Evan Peter's character lives in with his mom is classic old Philadelphia stone, probably on the main line. I read the director is from Berwyn. Some of the Philly accents people are attempting are kinda bad, like Siobhan's girlfriend. Like when Jimmy Fallon attempted a Philadelphia accent on SNL and it totally came off southern. It's apparently one of the most difficult accents to get right.
  22. Or I was maybe thinking Deja's boyfriend may be driving Hailey and Jack as Deja was coming from work. I forgot his name, sorry!
  23. Yes! I went to sleepaway camp in Stroudsburg (Poconos) and summered at Lake Wallanpaupack in 86. In the dead of summer it's chilly. In late August, during the day, definitely some sweater weather. Far out prediction, but maybe Kevin adds on to the cabin in the coming years. Like makes it into a mansion? And that's where we end up 12 or so years from now. Dan said in E magazine online that Kevin's future home is in drivable distance to Beth's studio. Hmm. I seem to remember a show where an old family home was added onto when money came in. I just can't recall now. Sentimental reasons.
