  1. Agree wholeheartedly with all. The 3 Nickies are killing it. It's eerie, in a good way. I liked, also, that they threw grouchy grandpa with the flask in there. Really fleshes out the Pearson men.
  2. My mom doesn't let us out of the house on Thanksgiving or eat anything but snacks after breakfast, lol. I noticed Beth was super chill about everything, probably because she was stressing about Shawna. Okay, I just wrote what sounds like a paradox...
  3. On Twitter they had a close up of the police report with a stamp saying "Bethlehem Pennsylvania Police Department" about an hour and a half or so north of Philadelphia. I now live squarely between the two. I wondered if it was the Pocono home? The one they went up to sell on the season one episode The Trip. I guess one could say the Poconos begin just north of Bethlehem?
  4. Yes! Since I was a baby I've despised bananas. I haven't had one in over 40 years and I can still conjure that taste, unfortunately. And they smell horrible, in my opinion. I leave the room too. Rudy from Survior died last week after 20 years of Alzheimers. So it makes sense that Rebecca could start showing signs now. Didn't Ronald Reagan have it while president in his second term? He lived until 2004. Although of course it may not even be Alzheimers or dementia, I'm thinking about the MRI she got in winter of 1998, right before Jack died.
  5. PA driving age is 16. Not sure about permit. In my day (decades ago) it was 15.
  6. Same. And I also went to high school 89 to 93 and I have a BA in English Lit too (MS is special ed, I teach now). I cut school a lot my senior year and always answered the phone to catch the expected phone call from the attendance office. They always called at night (automated message). I'd go to school and leave before attendance with my bff who had a car. Great times.
  7. Yeah. Graduated high school in 1993. There was a smoking section, outside under the porch. Totally allowed, which floors me now. I worked in a facility with a school (I teach) for kids with special needs. I was strangely shocked that workers were totally allowed to smoke outside the doors until 2004. No longer allowed on any school property now. I remember smoking in the mall in the 90s, even in line at the bank. Different world. I'm 45.
  8. Nice brief portrait of Philadelphia. Septa bus with Germantown departure (my dad was born in Germantown hospital), Maxy steaks (I never heard of it! But Geno's is terrible!), Rita's, the Belmont Plateau, Boat House Row...I live in Bucks now. I thought it was funny how Susan and the actress who plays Kelly were "sparring" on Twitter! Wow, Annie is a feisty one!
  9. Me too, Bucks County. A true half gallon! My grandparents got Sealtest and my nana got Breyers checkered orange sherbet and vanilla. I loved and still love vanilla ice cream that's yellow, lol, and you get in Chinese restaurants in the silver dish, still cold from the freezer. Ugh, I'm craving ice cream!
  10. Marc (Kate's bf) was on Euphoria as Kat's bf. too late as always. 😂😂 Remember ice cream in cardboard very well, I'm 45. Sealtest. Liked how Kate commented on beauty mark on Beth's eye. Agree with the fact the show jerked around a lot, one minute of Kate holding the baby, another of Kevin at hockey game, another of Miguel circa 1998. Liked, however, the dinner course titles...salad, entree, etc. Kinda artsy. Still curious and sad about Stanley becoming rotten.
  11. The Utz potato chips box Beth carried into the studio! Such a Philadelphia area thing! This show really has their props right! I thought when Beth asked Randall about the lemon he was going to say, "When my dad found me the doctor told him right before that if life gives you the sourest lemon..."
  12. Someone on Twitter posted a picture of Jack and Lucy in the diner and on the walls were framed pictures of a black family. One with a baby, I think? Might be his diner in the future...warm and homey. Probably does good burgers. Good call! Except Dan did say on ET Online that the Jack scenes are in LA (the Greek) so perhaps Malik moved west at some point?
  13. I understand! I enjoy writing (my undergraduate degree, believe it or not!) was actually English Literature. However, I have issues translating what I watch visually to page. I'm in awe of the writing on here. Totally agree about June's bright blonde hair color! And makeup? Mrs. Lawrence doesn't seem the type?
  14. As I told my husband (who happens to look just like Mac Minghella, Nick 😉), "Finally, a good episode! Stuff actually happened." Honestly, I feel the show has been spinning its wheels all season. I was hyped during this episode. Loved the final scene with Kate Bush's glorious Cloudbursting (a favorite since high school) playing. I got shivers. Sometimes this show is truly good stuff. The driving scenes with SJ and Fred were beautifully shot and to me accurately portrayed the destitute landscape of Gilead. So barren (hmmm) and empty, grey. I also quite appreciated the use of Portishead at Jezabel's. Loved that band in college, even saw them in Detroit in 1997. I was sitting there singing along. I'm looking forward, as always, to pouring through all of your thoughtful, well written responses. I've enjoyed that, sometimes, more than the show this season! Quick question: where did Serena Joy and Fred stop? Whose home was that? An Econo wife and husband?
  15. Me too. It was beautiful. I completely agree with everyone. I was bored to tears and rolled my eyes several times. The world building needs help. Huge ring on mouth lunacy. So many plot holes.
  16. Yes, my exact thoughts! June was totally acting like she ran the place. She just walked breezily away after being questioned by the Eye about Luke and Nichole. And they let her.
  17. Ugh. Sylvia made me so angry. I actually felt resentment while putting myself in Emily's shoes. Sylvia seemed so cold. I did appreciate that she asked if Emily was okay and if she needed anything while out on the porch. I admit, I cried in a puddle while Emily read her son a story and he took over. What's up with Aunt Lydia? As always deeply enjoy the commentary here. So many great thoughts and insight. Edit: after reading the thread I see what they're doing with Sylvia and Emily.
  18. I completely understand. I have a high tolerance for creepy, horror, disturbing stuff. I read My Sweet Audrina like ten times the summer before eighth grade. But I hear ya, I was really triggered with the Nick parts. And I teach kids with autism (which Nick had) who can be often monotone and have issues with language interpretation. In my twenties I met some really shady people like him, thinking they were vampires and into dark gothic stuff. When she was confessing her issues with Dee Dee and he said, "I want to show you something" and it was the pornographic picture...my stomach dropped. I'm no prude at 45 years old, I've seen stuff like that, obviously, I just was putting myself in Gypsy's place. I want to scream, "No, get away from him!" She was such an easy target. My heart hurts for her. I fear (d) for those sweet guinea pigs. I'm a type one diabetic and was disgusted by Dee Dee's lack of care for herself. When her blood was 74 I screamed, "Don't just lie there, eat something!" I am going to watch it, but I wonder if it's healthy for me. Btw: do Gypsy's dentures look filmy and disgusting to anyone else??
  19. That makes two of us (have lived in Philadelphia and now live between Philly and Allentown). I didn't know Ken went to Penn. Makes sense as Michael and Gary did on thirtysomething (loved that show fiercely!) I absolutely adored Michael and Hope's craftsman home in Lower Merion. Edited: to the poster from Germantown and Mt. Airy- my grandfather was from Mt. Airy, my dad was from Gorgas Lane in Germantown, my grandma was from Chestnut Hill.
  20. I remember on Reddit (or maybe here??) 13 years. I read it March of last year, after the season two finale. So now I guess it's 12. However Mandy gave an interview and said Rebecca is 83 in the bed. She was born in 1950 so she would be 68 or 69 now.
  21. I believe the recreation center had a sign on it: North Philadelphia Rec Center.
  22. Yeah. I'm trying to figure out what brought Toby, Kevin, Rebecca to the east coast. As I stated earlier today that Isaac the show runner said Kevin lives near Beth's studio. However, as someone recalled (thank you) Tess's workplace said Sussex County NJ. Hmmm. So, did they move back?? Did Tess go to college in north Jersey? Are Kate (?) and Jack driving from the airport? A home on the east coast? Reading way too much into this, sigh.
  23. Lol, little Annie wrinkled her nose while looking at the Philly house flyer. So adorable.
  24. Hmmm, it looked to me like a typical Philadelphia brick row home. Very common here. I can't see them living in north Philadelphia though, rough area. Perhaps west Philadelphia (University City?), South? Fishtown or Northern Liberties.
