  1. Yeah. That Broncos and Green Bay game. 1998.
  2. Next week!!! Looking forward to it. I'd like to see the aftermath of Jack's death. Like a month, 6 months, a few years, etc. Fill in those hunks of time. Looks like 1998 Rebecca is standing in the backyard, looking at a garden of a stately, white home. Her parent's in Connecticut? Makes sense. Then it looks like she pours two cups of coffee in a different kitchen than the house that burnt down. Sliding door. An apartment? Wondering if she, Randall and Kate moved into an apartment. Also, I was thinking last night if they were ever going to show Kevin being actually told that his dad died in the car in the woods. Looks like they took the time to film it and we have seen snippets of it, with Kate standing there crying. This was in the trailer at the end of 9 bucks. I was reflecting on last year's season opener and how they showed the ruined house at the end and the kids (R and K) crying on the couch. We were saying on here that maybe Jack was still alive at that point since the kids weren't that hysterical. But then we discover Rebecca told the kids and went off for a drive while the kids cried at Miguel's and Kate said, through sniffles, "We gotta tell Kev. He should hear it from me." Strange, I still don't think Kate and Randall seemed realistically...destroyed, devastated, in shock, traumatized...about losing Jack.
  3. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/us-sterling-k-brown-tells-051016156.html Good article. Someone on Yahoo commented that maybe Tess does something that causes a miscarriage for Kate this season and that's why Tess specifically, as Sterling alludes to, is tentative about seeing "her". Like the whole Dan Fogleman "present informs the future" stuff that he's talked about last spring and summer. Sounds like this show. Dan said this "her/she" business will unfold this season, first 9 episodes. Makes sense it would unfold in the present as well.
  4. Thank you very much for the info on PCOS. I had heard of it, however did not know what it was. I just read up on it on Mayo Clinic. Best wishes to you and your daughters.
  5. That guy who came to Rebecca's door definitely reminded me of young teen Kevin. Very similar.
  6. Wow. I want to look into adopting from Asia and I'm type 1 diabetic.
  7. Totally agree with...well, everything. Especially the Rebecca deathbed to bookend it. Kinda like The Time Travellers Wife when Claire is an old woman and Henry pops up from his youth, time traveling into the deep future. Just, ya know, meeting Jack at the end. This show would do that. Remember William? Jack and William laughing on the couch? Btw, the writers will go to any length to include Ron Cephus Jones in a script, anything. Dan said in the Entertainment mag article that he's coming back for four or five episodes this season.
  8. Where were Kate and Randall watching Sex & the City?? We're they in the house, newly renovated? In an apartment? I only watched that episode once and am curious about where the family ended up after Jack died. I wonder if they ever went back to the house.
  9. I grew up in suburban Philly and my dad commuted to NYC. My brother in law commutes from Trenton area to north Jersey burbs everyday. My own commute is an hour. :0( it's just awful.
  10. everything was at the cabin. Airplanes included. A cabin 6 hours away in the Pocono Mts. Didn't the cabin belong to one of Jack's co-workers? And wasn't the cabin getting ready to be sold in the episode, The Trip?.
  11. Yes. I could totally see the wheels turning! Also appeared like she was expecting them to say, "wait a second, we actually do have banana pudding ice cream. Doh!"
  12. Yep. Right across from the GW bridge. I always think of it as the northern most nj suburb of NYC.
  13. Absolutely. When I was 11, back in 1985, we had Deja (an abandoned female family member, older than my siblings and me) and it was horrible. She was a total loose cannon, cut my face with a butter knife, kicked me in the stomach, and threw me in the closet. We were a great family with two girls, 11 and 8, and a two year old boy. She really put us through the ringer. Last night my mom and I were freaking out watching Deja. She totally has to go. But as my mom said, Randall got what he wanted and now he's dearly paying for it.
  14. Rebecca had somewhat of a "Rachel" in "The best washing machine in the world" episode. The one where the boys fought on the football field. Maybe that year was 1995? Not sure, but she definitely looked different than how she looked in 97/98.
  15. Thanks! I was going to Google Springsteen concerts the night of Jan 26/27/28.
  16. Yes. I sure did. No crying and very, very stoic. Looking forward to seeing Kevin's initial reaction and his destroying the airplanes. Does Rebecca have the coffee cup in the present? Has anyone spotted it in previous episodes?
  17. Agree wholeheartedly about the winter in Pittsburgh thing. It truly took me out the story, continuously. They did such a great job on Bec's cancer scare in winter with the snow (I assume that scare was a few weeks before he died, that winter anyway) and Kate cutting school on what seemed to be a classic damp and rainy PA morning. But all the green in January! The trip back from the grocery store with green leaves, the funeral with lush green and no heavy coats, the day of the Super Bowl with Kate outside in a light dress and pretty trees. I'm in Philadelphia and that winter of 1998 was cold. Super Bowl Sunday was cold. I remember, believe it or not. This episode, however, got me like Memphis. So many symbols and the way they directed and edited the funeral was perfect. From Rebecca's point of view, all blurred and skipping ahead, with flashes of cognition interspersed with numbness. Like they arrived and then the pastor was speaking and then it seemed time jumped and Miguel was speaking. I've been there. My favorite part: the bridge. I think that the show was originally named Across the Border (as a two parter) as the foursome were shown crossing the bridge into a different/new life without Jack. Literally (off to a concert, just mom and the kids) and very much figuratively. Dr. K's speech allowed Rebecca to feel strong enough in that moment to "cross the bridge" without "sturdy and superhero" Jack. Of course literally too. She was fearless crossing that bridge, unlike in 1989 or whenever. Good job show. Also the bridge looked authentically Pittsburgh. For once. I became enraged when Kate got up in the middle of the night with the dog. I thought for sure she was going to open the door and let Louie outside to run free. I'm curious to see what happens to him (maybe I'm not!) My mom said, "Kate, protect that dog with your life." Looking forward to seeing what life holds for the 4 of them in the first few years after his death. The cancer scare floored me. Well done. I felt her fear and I embarrassingly wish I'd had a Jack during my own health fears. Thought we'd get a flash forward of an old, old Rebecca circa 2045. Old Randall at her hospital bedside. Dan said more flash forwards coming. The car dealership part was ridiculous. To me anyway. Kevin seemed so neutral throughout the whole episode. Well, except for his frustration with the tie and anger over the watch (um, I emphasized). Where are those airplanes? At the Pocono cabin? That said, Kate and Randall were not as hysterical as expected when the discovered that Jack died. I wonder if they will show Kevin's initial reaction? Probably. Preferred this episode to the last one, which I got to late due to being a massive and devoted Eagles fan.
  18. And if the Eagles win (I'm a Philadelphian and a massive Eagles fan!) I will be too ecstatic to bring this sad, emotional episode upon myself. Bigger post coming later! I cried just as much during this episode as I did with "Memphis". I, honestly, kept thinking about it today.
  19. Yes, I went to high school with a set of female triplets where there were two identical girls and one that was not. I think you're onto something. Hopefully it will be explored on the show.
  20. Lol. I'm the opposite. My Junior High had full lockers and my very large, suburban Philadelphia high school had half lockers! Couldn't really fit a coat in there.
  21. Charlotte also had pictures of kids all over her bedroom.
  22. I just got an old fashioned paper, hand written RX for Adderall last Friday. Messy writing and all. Surprised as when my last doctor did the script he used a printed larger paper. Only thing I noticed on this new script was the DEA number. I'm in PA-Philadelphia suburbs.
  23. I love EW articles so much. I have a ritual every Tuesday night. First watch the show, then go on Twitter, then read the EW article (s) (very thorough!), and finally read this message board.
  24. Exactly. Why show the fuse box? I thought immediately of fire when I saw that they had no electricity. And I got a paper script on Friday, exactly like Kevin's, for my ADD medication. It has a DEA number on it.
