It is pretty clear there was no consensus plan. Just Bran pulling strings. That was what he told Jon so Jon would be a distraction so Arya would get by. Bran probably knew Jon would survive. It is pretty clear that what happened was known to Bran in every detail. I found the exchange he had with Theon creepy. It was not unkind but Bran didn’t feel it and it manipulated theon to his death. Ery creepy. I watched it again on my phone. Much easier to see.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
Affogato replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
Of course if Jon kills euron, water, a lannister (lion) and Dany, his beloved, he can bring lightbringer back into the world. Maybe killing the NK wasnt the end of darkness. -
Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

I keep on thinking that everything is getting cut short. The nightking was a dumb idea IMO because killing him is immediately destroys his armies. It has a built in anticlimax. All of that build up and nothing. I always thought Arya was going to Ninja him. Still it is a let down and there isn’t any time to find out what the Children of the Forest will do now. Men are still a threat, after all. It seems like a strange time to bring in the Golden Company and Aegon the possibly Targaryon. The characters are flattening out. Dany was never the strongest character but even Tyrion is becoming simpler and repeating recognizable quirks instead of thinking and growing. About Dany, I think Jorah was her moral center and that leaves an opening for her making some bad decisions The story also deserves a denouement. Where does the promise of spring fit in? -

Arya isn’t a team player. Not a complaint. She has been pretty alone. -
Well the weapons would be rare. They’ve been working to make dragonglass weapons for the front lines. But yes they should have all had torches to light.

He was at the weirwood sending out his little birds to record the battle. He is the memory of the world. Weirwood is a wireless transmission facility. I don’t know if he survives the probably death of magic but remembering is a purpose.

Which makes sense.

Sansa Stark: A Direwolf In Sheep's Clothing?
Affogato replied to Carrie Ann's topic in Game Of Thrones
Honestly Varys may actually be the smartest. Davos probably wins the sanity sweepstakes, though. -
Sansa Stark: A Direwolf In Sheep's Clothing?

If it comes to it I’m impressed with Dany’s development of a clear and consistent political platform and style of leadership while coping with dragons and different cultures. She was as sheltered and more abused than sansa to start. I don’t know that we’ve seen Sansa do anything really complex and new. She is acting rather than reacting now, to her credit, but if she had any real training as a child it would have been in the stewardship of a place like winterfell and the north in general. Honestly the stark children show remarkable resilience and fortitude and they seem smart enough, but not necessarily brilliant. -
Jorah humanizes Dany, not sure anyone else does. This is a good way to look at it.

If I were writing the show I’d try to mess with expectations as much as possible.

Tormund woul be my pick of the men in that room.

Well in fairness she was at that age eager for a marriage to a handsome nobleman. He was more than kind. He gave her all the power he could in the marriage. Even to her it should have been obvious he had no choice in the matter. This is not to say it was a good experience for her.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
Affogato replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
No it didn’t. He has given up power at every turn from the start giving the pups to the stark children and counting himself out and joining the night’s watch. It makes a case for him getting the thrown in the end. And the throne also. -
In the mad magazine version. Brienne for the iron throne!

I thought the NK has made a number of Sentients, including craster’s lads perhaps, who make their own mindless zombies. If you kill one of his hench-wights the undead mindless hordes they’ve turned die with them. If you kill the NK you kill all his zombie franchises at once. Anyway that’s what I’ve been assuming. Which means that while he is attacking Winterfell another army could be marching to KL.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
Affogato replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
I think in the show the actor that plays the NK played the human who was turned. The night king isn't in the books. I suspect they will have to sacrifice magic for survival and the night king visually is the opposite of dragons. Works visually in show. Ice/fire. -
Shae cured him of it. Also: Dany.
-
i’m thinking she plans on going off alone and killing the night king by stabbing him with valerian steel and leaving dragonglass in the wound, poisoning him. Or vice versa. I need another look at the blueprints. She isn’t a soldier. She is an assassin.

The small doomed boy sits with 22 unmounted farmers at his back and has a voice in the council. the north is a low gradient society. Jon was elected, not anointed, and they are justified in expecting some involvement in major decisions. Westeros is a big place. The north, the kingsmoot, kings landing (etc) have different expectations of government. Sansa is right about feeding the dragons. 80 sheep and Dany is worried they have eaten so few — and they can’t forage themselves very well. she should bring it up often.

S02.E03: Chapter Fourteen: Lupercalia
Affogato replied to Lady Calypso's topic in Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina
Lilith is a Jewish mythological figure as are all the demons, etc, from which christanity builds its supernatural world (with the odd sprinkling of babylonian/apinch of greek/etc). It makes sense and would indicate that, perhaps like christianity, both parallel churches are a corruption of the truth that derives from similar roots. I had a flash of Denisof looking like James Comey which was oddly disturbing, but his face was in shadow. -
S02.E09: Chapter Twenty: The Mephisto Waltz
Affogato replied to Lady Calypso's topic in Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina
I watched the season with n a couple od gulps and may watch it again. I am beginning to really love the dramatic thoughtful visuals that behoove a story with strong visual orgins. I did not find it disjointed and if it is not renewed it stands a a complete and satisfying story. If it continues I’m much more interested in what the new order brings than I would be in more entrenched patriarchy. The duplicity of both Zelda and Dorian is interesting. The steadfastness of Hilda was inspiring. Theo certainly has more story to come. Sabrina would be a Nephilim, now, and they would have magical powers as did Lucy. lilith herself was probably not fully human, depending on definition, and that may be where the witch magic comes from originally. Lilith may be nephilim and so the mother of witches. -
It is like fanfiction. People do become obsessed with some character in a story/tv show. They write stories to insert themselves, fix the character, change the story into one they like better and the result very often isnt the character they liked in the first place . Gordon realized it, a lot of people don’t. There are dating services that set people up with digital dates.

I liked the bit where they say something to Delenn and she cracks up. It is explained that minbari humour is based on (personal enlightenment?) , different than human humor. I liked the episode. I think the writer described it as looking like the three stooges— you either think it is hilarious or wtf. Something foreign to you should be puzzling and fall flat. People have to work a bit to understand old fashioned humor.
