  1. More thoughts on the episode and on some people's comments. Callie and AZ did read through sperm bank bios (I think in the Callie gets sued retcon ep in season 10). I would like to join Richard and AZ's trivia team. 25 wins in 26 weeks (6 months) is an amazing record. Unless they go to trivia more than once a week... I think Callie signaled to her lawyer when Richard was on the stand, to go after/slut shame AZ. If you watch close, the lawyer looks back, and Callie crosses her arms more firmly right before the lawyer goes there. I agree that AZ had to at least try going to court to keep Sofia, especially after the way Callie took Sofia and ran off to MerDer's dream house after AZ cheated, and would not let AZ see her until Christina made Callie see reason. Not sure I would trust Callie not to run again. I just rewatched Sofia's birth and the next episode, and the 12 week old sofia looks so much like the new actress playing her, it's amazing. Also, a ways back, someone asked about which kid was around first, sofia or Zola. From those episodes, Sofia was born, and about 12 weeks later, alex started bringing the kids from Africa for surgeries (and I'm pretty sure Zola was one of those kids (maybe not the first ones, but eventually)). Zola was probably older than 12 weeks, though. Whew.
  2. I loved how Arizona did a personality change when she walked into the surgery, you could actually see it shift from pissed off about the case and the OB, to take charge, "I can fix this" Arizona. The woman can compartmentalize. Also, I guess now that DeLuca isn't banging Maggie, that he and Richard can be friends. I thought Owen's testimony was a waste of time. But when they switched to AZ's lawyer questioning DeLuca, (asking him if he lived with AZ) I was momentarily thrown. I know they were going to only call each witness once, but there should have been some logical order, like all Callie's, then all AZ's. Still don't care about Kyle and Stephanie.
  3. I read the books a few years ago, and the early seasons of the show used the stories from the books, but since JW wrote mostly her own experiences, the show split the cases among the various midwives. I think they ran out of stories from the books around the end of season 2/middle of season 3, so everything since then is new.
  4. I hope that Penny says something to Callie like, "of course I want you with me, but it's only a year and I'll be super busy with my whatever research idea that I won this grant for (which couldn't have been that well thought out, since I only had a couple hours to write my grant proposal, while working (I assume that the grant was given based on what they wanted to do research on, not as a personality contest)), so why don't you stay here instead of uprooting your daughter for such a short time." But who am I kidding, Callie will probably decide to go with Penny, and Shonda will arrange an "accident" so none of them ever come back. (Yes, I'll be bitter if Callie leaves).
  5. I'm still greatly confused by this whole grant business (which I should mention, I don't recall ever hearing about this thing ever before), and I have had a chance to watch the parts I missed. At the begining, they said that each Attending could nominate a resident, who could then apply and then all the attendings would talk, and the chief of surgery would pick a winner. So based on that, Penny couldn't just apply by the deadline, someone would have had to nominate her. Who did that (who had not already nominated someone)? And why was Callie surprised that Penny won, since she should have been one of the ones in the room when the discussion was going on.
  6. I missed part of the episode, but it appeared that the attendings selected the grant winner. So why wasn't Callie in the room voting? Why would she be surprised that Penny won? If Alex gets to be in the room (I assume Jo applied - I think someone said he was there), why wasn't Callie?
  7. I liked the older lady with the prolapse uterus. Her funny comments during the class reminded me of me. I hope she comes back, but I doubt it (we almost never see the patients again).
  8. I don't think Arizona violated HIPAA because she isn't April's doctor. Currently she's just a friend (or maybe ex friend). She was trying to run tests on her, but April refused.
  9. Penny, move away from Sofia. Far far away. Not only because I would like Calzona to get back together, but because if you are dating one of Sofia's mothers, you should not be treating Sofia. Of course, when have medical ethics been taken into consideration on this show. Still, Penny, move far far away from Sofia.
  10. I may as well mention the things I liked/laughed at in the episode. I liked that Kiki's sister was named Mimi. Made me wonder if they have other sisters named Didi or Gigi (I like patterns in names). Loved that Jane called Kent "Jughead" after he referred to them as Betty and Veronica. Loved Nina's wedding hat, until she backed up and we could see the rest of her outfit. The hat was very pretty, but did not go with her jacket and slacks. I thought she seemed disappointed that Frankie's new girlfriend was coming to the wedding. Kent was funny, especially with the comic book, but the kilt flip was not. I still think there is something off abut him.
  11. I don't understand why alice? would shoot the sheriff when she was legally released from prison. It's not like she escaped. Also, the bit about her not-son visiting her cell mate, wendy, weekly, and then visiting her new cell mate weekly. But didn't wendy get out 2 weeks ago, and alice got out 3 days ago, so the son visited the new cell mate weekly for a week and a half? This plot didn't make sense. And the poor police dog getting shot. But ... don't handlers usually move with and accompany the dogs? Very confused by this episode.
  12. The guy who plays Non (can't recall his name) was in Rizzoli and Isles as Casey Jones, Jane's one time boyfriend.
  13. Rewatching this episode and have a comment about the limpet teeth thing. So it's stronger than Kevlar... great. But there was a little window on one side with a lip, and they put the lip under Korsak's toes. So the window, which I assume is weaker than the limpet teeth, is pointed AT Korsak's leg. In fact, all of the blast would likely be DIRECTED AT Korsak's leg. And I can't imagine they could pull Korsak off the mine and far enough away before the blast escaped the little window. Based on that...Korsak should have lost his lower leg.
  14. I think the guy with one leg will have to use crutches to walk. I think the reason they moved the leg to the center, was there was so much damage to the pelvis from the tumor, that if they left the leg on the right side, that the pelvis would not have been able to support his weight. Of course, this was not explained in the show. I loved Stephanie's handling of the cheerleaders. Nice callback to the episode were Mousey died and Steph told the others that she went to college on a cheerleading scholarship. And I think DeLuca was talking to one of his family members when Maggie did her awkward "we are dating...each other...together" or whatever speech. Just speculation on the way he was talking to the stranger, and the embarrassed look back at those same people during the hug. Didn't care about Ben's surgery or Penny.
  15. I liked most of the crime of the week, though I thought they spent too much time with Korsak with his foot on the bomb. But regarding the Jane being hacked part, I don't think Jane should have yelled at the prison guard the way she did. Aren't cops and prison guards on the same side? And how behind the times is nina's computer, that she didn't know the ex academy classmate of Jane was released 3 (?) days before? And Nina didn't know she even WAS an ex academy classmate of Jane's. So COTW good. Ongoing story not so good.
  16. Not sure where else to mention this, but I loved the BAFTA award special. It was nice to see Dan Stevens and the actor who played Michael Gregson in the audience. And the on stage scene between the Dowager and Robert, where she telling him everything that happened on the show that he missed (why would they carry the Turk to Lady Mary's room? What is Tony Gillingham missing?) Was pretty funny.
  17. Thanks Scamp. So only 2 more episodes this season. I hope they resolve the "Jane was hacked, who was really behind Maura's kidnapping" plot in the next 2 episodes.
  18. Does anyone recall how many episodes are scheduled for season 6? Thanks
  19. I liked this episode. The throw back to Arizona being a "love 'em and leave'em" type, which is how she was before Callie, was way better than seeing Penny push Callie up against a wall for a no chemistry kiss. I enjoyed Mer and Amelia sending Penny back and forth with messages. This wouldn't have worked quite as well with Jo or Stephanie, because Amelia wouldn't have been quite as hostile. I even felt a little bad for Amelia when she and Mer came out of surgery, and she looked like "I saved Katie, be my friend again" but then noticed Mer's patient died, so she didn't go up to Mer and make it all about her. Yeah, I totally think Owen's sister will show up, probably the moment after Riggs declares his undying love for Mer, and since she's a doctor, she can join the cast too. Also, it will be a "show up on the doorstep surprise," because the military wouldn't show up to alert a family that their loved one was found ... I write with sarcasm, because only tv show writers would think that's how the military would operate. Lastly, I liked that Mer reminded the immature interns in her class that the cadavers they are working on are real people who donated their bodies to help them become better doctors, and to treat them and the situation with respect. Not be all laughing and joking around.
  20. I did like some of the scenes worth Tatiana, especially her first timeliness scene where we found out that she was attacked on the day that the plane crashed. Now, to go go back and find out in one of the last days of her surgery, what they said about how long Jackson has been operating on her (4 years, but can't recall if they said months or days). I do recall 43 surgeries. Also impressed that the hair and makeup people were able to keep hairstyles and Jackson's patchy beard straight with the timelines.
  21. Chocolatechip45, I was going to ask much the same thing. I thought in the Harper Avery episode, that everyone learned he was related to HA, but in this episode April even asked if he was related to Catherine. Also, how far along is April? I'd guess at least 2 months based on the 6 weeks of Mer's recovery, plus a couple weeks before when we were shown them in bed at the end of an episode.
  22. Hmmmm, only one comment so far...well, here's my take. What was up with the girl selling fake raffle tickets? If she's going to sell fake raffle tickets to a bunch of people in the same location, she needs to at least be consistent. Then skip a couple days, lie about a winner, and sell new fake tickets. Also, who was her mother (Charlotte? ), have we ever seen her before????? Since she reminds Angela so much of young Jane, maybe something will happen to Charlotte, and Jane will have to adopt her (and give her a dog). As for the crime of the week, I have no clue how they actually solved the crime. Just because the preschool (?) Has a 3D printer, that means the guy was going to come back that night? I'm confused. ETA:I wonder about Jame moving into a townhouse a block from Maura's house. I assume they will drag the "someone is after Jane" storyline out to the season finale. It's nice that Holiday gets to be involved.
  23. Master George is so cute, when he says "Mr. Bawwow".
