S16 E04: Frank vs. Russia
callie lee 29 replied to Galileo908's topic in It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
So this is a huge reach but there's something about the scene where Mac talks about having to go meet Johnny when he "buzzes" (and the whole Johnny thing in general) that reminds me of a very early (and awesome) cheesy 80's movie Eddie and The Cruisers. -
Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge - General Discussion

I was out after the first episode when the kitchen people won. The hidden pantry reminded me of something I see all over TikTok and Instagram right now. And were kitchen islands around in the 60's? The room with the fireplace was fantastic though, but compared to that entry room and staircase??? That staircase was amazing. -
FYI, Matty Matheson:A Cookbook is on sale (not sure how long) on Amazon for $2.99 - digital version.

Yeah, I don't mind Willa either. I get her voice can be a bit of putting but ehh, there are worse things. And yeah she's annoying but she's a teenager, it's what they do (and it's also why I don't have any. I do think that Mansell should be lucky it was Raylan and not Winona who found him having dinner with their daughter because funny think she would have stopped with a couple of head wounds.

Now that I guess it's over let me state for the record...I like Harvey. I find some of what he says pretty good and sometimes cheesy. And while I like Doug I could do without the hall talk with the litigants. -

Haven't had that I will say. -

I have, but they mostly have been smaller, local restaurants, not chains. That looked like a chain. I've also been to a couple of places that only take cash. -

I feel like this episode was directly inspired by Glenn's real life experience with his Tesla being stuck in a parking garage about a few months ago. If you don't listen to the podcast it's the one Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack. -
I posted this in another thread but it seems appropriate here with the current discussion. The Bear is a very popular show that is streaming only (and has quite a few Emmy nominations that were just announced). Writer below poverty line

Not specific to an episode but an interesting interview on light of the writers and actors strike. Writer below poverty line

The Reid heavy storylines (the ones over multiple episodes) were the worst arcs the show had. Maeve, Aubrey Plaza's character, Mexico and being arrested for murder....dumb, overraught, and way too "teenage fangirl" level of drama.

Everyone talks about the Chris episode and Ritchie's episode but I think my favorite by far is Marcus's episode. It was just lovely on all points. I do miss the characters all interacting at the restaurant together. I miss the Carmy and Syd interaction as well. I would have loved to have seen the two of them so the tasting your together. I definitely don't ship them but they have such a great platonic soul mate connection that just sits at the fire is the show. The two actors have fantastic chemistry together that it would be very easy for the powers that be to make it romantic but I hope they're better than that. I really need season 3 soon.

Carmy's reputation would bring me in, at least initially. He may not have gotten the Michelin stars but he didn't lose them. And it sounds like he's got a really solid cred in the foodie/chef world. Good service would keep me, though. I can't remember if it was the forks episode or Syds episode but whoever emphasized the importance on front of house they are not lying. I've continued to go to a lot of places that are over priced with mediocre food because the service is fucking outstanding.

I lasted 15 minutes (mainly because it came on after Modern Family and I haven't quite gotten the hang of Hulu Live yet) and I'm sorry, I would find Mama Doris very irritating in real life. The whole taking over of the bus ride and then the 10 seconds of the fashion show... I don't have a high tolerance of dealing with people who have to have it all about them, especially when others are actually trying to do their jobs.

For those who do reddit as well they have a pretty good subreddit on the show with individual episode threads and everything.

So I'm watching episode three and I was wondering who all the people Syd visits were since they had a distinctly non-actor vibe about them (and I very much do not mean that in a bad way) and if seems they weren't. Fun article from Vulture take about the different places. Definitely lends credibility and reinforces what I remember hearing during the first season in that chefs and restaurant staff were both obsessed and traumatized by the shows authenticity in his crazy and chaotic (and toxic) restaurants can be.

Please yes to a full forum! I'm just done with the second episode and it's still as anxiety inducing as ever. @possibilitiesI think it's Marcus's mom and no, I don't think we knew about her (or at least that she was sick) last season. But I also binge watched that whole season in a weekend so very possible I missed a reference.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who has a brief moment where I thought that they were going to just repurpose Mac's anal beads to Frank??? -

And per her Twitter page I'm not sure if she's full on an antivaxxer but she was opposed to the COVID vaccinec. Coupled with the pseudo-native American persona the dreadlocks just make me get a whole random cultural appropriation vibe from her. -

Found the plaintiff's IG, still has the dread posts up. She's also in (or at least her yoga studio is in) a town of app 2300 people. Not huge but still not the 60ish people she said. -
The first episode had me dying! And there are two more doors that need to be opened!! I didn't laugh quite as hard at the second episode but the scene with the mom's in the living room was funny as hell. And I completely forgot about the existence of the sisters but Charlie dealing with Amy of his family is always the most adult Charlie. And his comments on Mac and the uncle ... like seriously dude.
