Do You Consider Yourself A Feminist?: Why Or Why Not?
Ceindreadh replied to RealHousewife's topic in Everything Else
The problem with a weapon is getting access to it when you need it. How easy is it to get a gun from a bag, or even from a holster if it's under a buttoned up coat, when you're in a hurry. The best thing about self-defence classes is that it makes you think about how you can react if attacked. I read in a survival book that when you get on an aeroplane, you should run through a plan of what you'll do after an emergency landing "undo seat belt, stand up, move to the exit" etc, because if you've run through it in your mind before the event, then you're more likely to be able to follow the plan after the event. Same thing applies to self defence. An attacker already knows what they're going to do, but if you've already thought of a response to it beforehand, it'll be easier to implement it. -
Part of Nadia's costume issues could have been that they were trying to hide Natasia's pregnancy during filming.

Just to nitpick here, Teddy arrived before May was fostered. IIRC, the reason for keeping May as a character was so that the actor playing Angela would have somebody her own age on the set for company.

I see what you did there! hah!

I on the other hand hope the Louis decides to move on and do his healing somewhere else. I get that we're supposed to feel sympathy for the guy because he's beating himself up about what happened. But Alice's mother, Jimmy's wife, is dead because Louis decided he didn't want the inconvenience of getting his car the next morning. That's it. He had an alternative to not getting behind the wheel of a car that night and he didn't take it. And then of course there's the events at the station. Yes Louis, you feel like your life is fucked up, but that doesn't give you the right to fuck up other people's lives. The train driver, all the passengers, and of course Alice who would have blamed herself for not responding to his last text on time. No, hopefully Louis' arc is done and dusted and that's the last we'll see of him.

Interview with the Vampire did it for its second season and just announced at the beginning that the role would be played by a new cast member.

Do you think Will and Ormewood should shave theirs as well or is it only unhygienic for women?
-
That was in the early seasons of this show. I read the books and it's one of the actual cases in the books as well, so sappy as it may be, it did actually happen for real!

I’m pretty sure it was mentioned before.

Eli spent five months in residential psychiatric care (per his voiceover at the end). I would guess that all of his stunts were chalked up to his psychosis and he was given treatment rather than having to face criminal charges. He could well have lost his medical licence and we do know that he's not allowed see Noah again. So I wouldn't say 'no' consequences.

The forum is looking completly different. Every page I click into now has a big 'C' at the beginning. Emojis are larger than text. Every post has the posters avatar filling the whole screen which I have to scroll past to get to see what they actually say. It's happening on both Firefox and Chrome on a laptop, and Safari on a tablet It's basically going to be impossible to actually read this site anymore. -
To be fair, wrangling a cameo in a movie as a quid pro quo is probably the most relatable thing he's ever done.

Are they small or are they just far away? 😀

the difference between Biden pardoning Hunter and Trump hypothetically pardoning Don Jnr/Eric, is that to the best of my knowledge there are no Democrats with a revenge list out to get the trump kids. We do know that trump wants to take revenge on anybody who has slighted him and that Hunter Biden is an easy target. Of course Biden wasn't going to issue a pardon when he had every reason to believe that the next president would abide by the rule of law and not be a petty little vengeful wannabe dicator. But changing ones mind when the circumstances change, that doesn't mean he was lying all along.

Nandor (re the sweaty shirt) "You're stretching it!" Lazlo (to camera) "Wouldn't be the first time!" I may have had to pause so I could guffaw for some time over that exchange! -
Alleged attempts. I will be totally unsurprized if it eventually comes out that the first one was a setup. And the second one was what, some guy wandering around with a legally held weapon?

I am enjoying this season, but I agree that it's lacking in something compared to the first season. I think that part of it is that in season 1, we at least knew that the prick would get his comeuppance, whereas we have no idea what (if anything) will happen to the wagon. I don't think I could have stomached watching S1 if I hadn't know the prick was going to die eventually.

And that 40% is likely not on every single amount earned. Most tax regimes have a scale of taxes whereby the first X amount is tax free, the next chunk is at a lower rate and only the top chunk of income is taxed at the highest rate.

A high end restaurant that wants to ensure that its clientele are also high end will do better with a human taking reservations who can weed out the riff-raff. An online reservation system will let in anybody with a valid credit card.

That's communism, not socialism. Communism is where the government take everything and (allegedly) distribute it in accordance with people's needs. Socialism is where the government takes a percentage and uses it for the benefit of everybody. It's sort of like tithing, so I don't quite get why so many so called christians are against paying their share.
