  1. Yes! "I don't know what that is, but sure!" They would have gained a thousand points in the writing department if Hook had just added something like, "What about that Netflix thing you mentioned?" I don't want to sound like I'm apologizing for the writers, but they gave us some pretty good CS moments. But their follow-through is for crap. And to just echo what everyone else has been saying, NO I DON'T NEED 40 MINUTES OF KISSING!
  2. I'll often re-watch sketches on that I like on Hulu, but this is the first show where I've re-watched most of the sketches more than once. To me, it seemed like rather than fizzle out like they usually do, a lot of them ended on really high notes. Christmas Mass Spectacular was great throughout. I know I've seen all of these people at Mass. The waterbed sketch just kept getting funnier and funnier with each jingle, and then the big ending with Janine popping her face out her own face. But the one that kills me is the Heinz Ketchup factory. Taran sells that last line so well, it just cracks me up.
  3. Maybe he wanted to wash it off first, and bathrooms at Granny's were the closest thing? Yeah, I got nothing. Anyway, 24 hours later, I'm still mildly annoyed because not one thing I wanted to happen actually happened when it came to the heart situation. However, I'm starting to look at more as a blessing in disguise. It seems CS were largely ignored in the second half episodes because they're not driving the plot. And that's good, because I don't want their relationship to drive the plot. Not yet anyway. Yes, the writers will throw in roadblocks just for the sake of angst, but as someone else pointed out, the heart was actually more about Rumpbelle. Like others, I also did not expect an "I Love You" because it's still too early, especially for Emma. I know that phrase can get thrown around pretty easily sometimes, especially on this show, but that kind of sentiment can be a huge deal for some people. For now, I will enjoy their slow burn and be happy with the little signals we get here and there: the hand holding, the touching, the smoldering looks, etc. And hey, . When and if Emma says those words, I hope I'll be grinning like a big doofus because it will have made total sense.
  4. Oh, now I'm wondering if it was just wishfull thinking on my part that he resisted some of Rumple's manipulations. But that's exactly how I felt about the kiss. There was a least some resistance there. I keep trying to reconcile Emma's cluelessness with the fact that there is a lot going on and being the savior, you have to think about the whole town's well-being, but come on. She needs to stop worrying about Regina's sads and start worrying about the one guy who's been there for her the whole time. Argh. can we start a #BuyHookSeveralShots campaign?
  5. The cuts with Rumple gave me the heebie jeebies, but when Killian held onto Emma's arm, I think he was desperately signaling for help. He also refused to parrot the last bit of Rumple's dialog, so I think the kiss was the most he could give her outside of being controlled. Very well done on Colin's part. And now for the rant: Emma, your boyfriend had his heart ripped out and was tortured for days! He deserves a lot of TLC! Actually, HE'S the one you need to be doing shots with among other things! LIke I said, I'm going to have to have my headcanon fill in a lot of happy stuff for any of this to be okay.
  6. Ok, I didn't hate it, but like most episodes, there were a lot of things I wish they'd done differently. I'm glad Emma finally realized that there was something off with Hook, and the way he grabbed her arm to signal how right she was. Wish there would have been more payoff with the heart situation, like Emma actually being the one to get his heart back. Having it just casually tossed back to him was weird to say the least. Speaking of, apparently, restoring someone's heart is like ripping off a Bandaid. Still, it was cute the way she shoved it in, and the kiss was hot even if it was cut way too short. My headcanon is going to fill in all the stuff that happened before Emma left to go have shots with Regina. Glad to see Belle finally grow a spine. The scene between her and Rumple at the town line was one of the highlights. Cue Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made for Walking". Waaaay to much Regina/Robin angst as predicted. Glad Robin is gone, but I wanted Marian to leave Storybrook and open up an archery camp for young women. Again, I'm going to miss the Arendelle gang. Wow, maybe Anna is the smartest person there for being the only one to know how much of a liar Rumple is. (And I'm ashamed to say I watched Frozen on demand the other day. so I remembered that wonderful smell was...CHOCOLATE!). Cruella does seem very much out of place in the Enchanted Forest, but I think I'm going to love her. Liking Ursula so far too. Not feeling this author/Operation Mongoose storyline at all. Overall, as infurating as this show can be, I'm going to miss it during the hiatus. Come on March!
  7. Those CS photos! I really hope that's an actual scene (it looks like it). I love how their smiles just continue to grow with each picture. I really like Emma's peacoat too. A very nautical look she's adopting there!
  8. I know, right? This weekend I'm settling in with a bottle of Fireball (appropriate, I think) and preemptively taking Monday off work.
  9. I'm almost considering using Rumple quotes for a drinking game on Sunday night. That said, IS there a OUAT drinking game?
  10. "Enjoy your night being devishly handsome, dearie. It's going to be your last."
  11. Yes, same thoughts here. I was also hoping Emma would notice Hook missing, especially how earlier she was all, "I can't lose you too". And if I was Anna, I'd be sprinting to the beach to check on my fiancé. Next week better start by someone asking "Where are Killian and Kristoff?" Right, but there is too much to get through next week. I was hoping for the phone message to get played, but it's looking more and more unlikely. That time will be devoted to more Regina/Robin angst. Seriously! I was hoping we'd get an, "Oh wow, there it is!" It was probably inches away from her too! It's starting to bug me because I start to freak out and think I've lost mine if it's buried too deep in my purse. Wow, so much hope in my reply...Oh well, it springs eternal!
  12. For the penultimate episode, I found it a little underwhelming. I was prepared for some campiness with everyone's worst selves, but the comedy didn't quite live up to what I was expecting. I don't know what I was expecting really, but that wasn't it. Still, I did like DO NOT WAKE MY BABY, and I continue to love Kristoff. Also, I liked the way things ended with Ingrid. I'd personally not want someone so needy anywhere around me, but Elizabeth Mitchell was perfect. I knew Emma and Elsa could never kill her so that was the only way for her to go. Now, can everyone please focus on get Killian's heart back?
  13. Considering how many versions of A Christmas Carol/Scrooge are shown on TV this time of year i thought this might go here. For me, the holidays aren't complete without seeing some version of A Christmas Carol. I've read the story, seen a half dozen live versions and make it a point to see every movie/tv version of it on TV this time of year. So I'm wondering what is everyone's favorite version of Scrooge/A Christmas Carol? For me, it's the 1951 version with Alistair Sim. It comes closest to the tone of the original Dickens story with the loneliness people can feel during the holidays. Most of all, I can really feel the redemption with Sim's Scrooge. He didn't start out as a heartless miser. He had dreams and goals and love. But life was cruel and he adapted the best way he knew how. After his night with the spirits, he again feels that childlike wonder of Christmas spirit and good will. I love scene where he goes to his nephew Fred's house for dinner while they sing, Barbara Allen. It just totally captures the feel of a Victorian Christmas. I also love George C Scott's version with Patrick Stewart's as my third favorite.
  14. That is too cute. Little things like this why I love this show sometimes. I can't read the black book, but I'm wondering what Stars Screaming indicates (I hope it's not referring to some bad sex scenes I've read in urban fantasy where "she screamed her pleasure to the heavens" is erotic)
  15. I agree Hook dying would be the most impactful, but this outcome would make me feel really cheated, rather than feel like "Oh, wow, that was great storytelling". OK, Hook is my favorite character, so I'm biased, but overall the show has made me care too much about his story to cut it short like that. He's still on his way up the redemption arc, and it would be have to be a HUGE sacrifice on Hook's part for him to die and be fully redeemed in one go. The Shattered Sight spell is not Rumplestiltskin's spell, and that is the spell that is threatening the whole town. For Killian to lose his life during it would make him nothing but cannon fodder for whatever happens in 4B. I have to give it the writers on this one, but I really can't figure out how they're going to handle his fate. I hope it's involves a sacrifice that firmly establishes his place on Team Good Guy, but not something that breaks all the rules of "dead is dead" except when it's not. I want it to be more like Hook has done everything he can to keep the town from destroying itself and still managing to stay alive for Emma's sake. And yes, I'd while I'd love Emma to storm into Gold's shop and take Killian's heart back by force, I sort of want Hook to find a way to defeat Rumple himself. He's a smart guy, and there are always loopholes. For him to find a loophole at the last moment that would save himself and the town would be the best scenario for me.
  16. I now know my Halloween costume for next year! All I need to do is stop touching up my roots on one side of my head.
  17. Same here, Wilmington, Beaufort and Okracoke Island, NC! He didn't die walking the plank of the Jolly Roger (okay he was saved by a mermaid apparently). Even if a lot of his legend was just that, in real life he was also much more menacing-looking than this Blackbeard. Why isn't his beard braided with ribbons and smoldering locks? Where's the Queen Anne's Revenge? But in the spirit of suspension of disbelief, I am trying to look at him like other legendary/historical figures. All I'm coming up with is Johnny Appleseed and Santa Claus, and we don't know nearly as much about their real lives as Blackbeard. That said, I first became interested in pirate-lore when I rode the Pirates of the Caribbean and was allowed to buy a souvenir book from the gift shop when I was about 7 years old. Half of the book was about the ride itself, and the other half was about real pirates such as Blackbeard. If they're going to go full-on Caribbean at some point, I hope they include Anne Bonney and Mary Read in there somewhere (also real people, but less known about their true histories).
  18. Ditto with the guyliner thoughts! It's been gradual, but I definitely noticed it getting lighter during the last episode. Now it's thick and dark like his souuulll. It makes me giggle because I wear a lot of eyeliner myself and go lighter or heavier with it depending on my mood. It's the Lydia Deetz in me.
  19. When Rumple took out his heart, the thing I worried most about was having a robot-Hook for the rest of the series. So, I'm glad that we got a tiny bit of the old Killian in regards to his love for Emma. But I think the way he's acting now is understandable. He's a hostage. I'm pretty sure if he said anything to anyone about Rumple's plans, he'd be dead instantly. So, he's biding his time, quietly trying to figure something out. As long as he can stay alive, there's a glimmer of hope that he can be of some use to the good guys. I keep thinking back to when he hatted the fairies. We didn't actually see them go into the hat itself, right? Just a lot of lights flickering and a swirly things with one of the nuns. Maybe I'm being optimistic, but maybe he found a loophole?..Maybe? And, oh yeah, Emma totally knows something's wrong with him. I think she had an idea at the end of the last episode. Let's hope she finds out next episode.
  20. I had the exact same thought, but if the entire kingdom was frozen, most likely Sven was frozen too. I just hope someone is taking care of him until Kristoff gets back.
  21. Ha! I just said the same thing in the Frozen thread. I've fallen in love with them, especially Sven.I think Kristoff is now my second favorite guy on the show next to Hook.
  22. Because I have nieces and nephews, I've seen Frozen at least a dozen times. That said, I do think it was a little overhyped, but it's definitely up there with the classic Disney movies. While I've been enjoying the Frozen characters here, I just now realized how much I'm going to miss them. Anna and Kristoff's scenes last night were the best I've seen between them since the season started. The scene in the chest (despite the sunlight) gave me feels, their reunion with Elsa made me happy, and Kristoff and David's reunion was awesome. Is there any way we can keep them? I just wish we got a little bit of Olaf, and I'm worried about who's taking care of Sven for now.
  23. Funny thing is, I've never really been a shipper either, but, darnit, those two kids...I guess I just want to see Hook happy. Emma makes him happy, and she's cool, so yay Captain Swan.
  24. I was so bummed to find out AV Club would no longer be doing the recaps! Agreed, they have some of the funniest commentors. I can't remember, but did TLO ever do regular recaps of OUAT?
  25. Does anyone remember eGroups, which became YahooGroups? YG is pretty much dead now, but it was a great place for discussions. I also wish LiveJournal was as active as it once was. You know you've been around online fandoms for a long time when you're constanly moving from community to community looking for some good conversation. I know Reddit doesn't have the best reputation, and it's a pain to read when there are a lot of posts under one thread, but I've been pleasantly surprised by some of the subreddits there. This place is the best I've found in awhile though.
