I'm confused by this (and another one or two statements other like this). He was on the bottom, wasn't he, for his potato chip encrusted fish? What impressed you?
-
Something that stood out to me was how gracious the chefs were in responding to the judges, including addressing them as "chef". And how nice they were to each other.

was he the one that made the "three olive" thing? I definitely thought that was designed to look good more than taste good.
-
I had the sense that it was part of the Miller "campus" but could be totally wrong. I thought that "three olive crackers" dish guy should have gone home. It's almost always a bad idea to do a "duo" or "trio" of anything. It makes it easy to forget what you actually made. Speaking of olives, it seemed both used those awful (IMO) green olives stuffed with pimentos. Did they have to use that kind rather than tastier ones? The Miller branding (esp in the Quickfire) was cheesy. And Joe saying that he loves a Miller High Life at a Michelin star restaurant. Riiiiiight. I knew that the local guy with the disease wasn't going to go home this episode. I doubt they would have highlighted his disease if that were the case.

I had exactly the same thought. Weird that they didn't explain more.

what about poor Dave, eliminated in episode 1?

I absolutely HATED the "Ex-Wifes" side story. Stupid, stupid. Betty didn't get enough screen time this episode.

they showed some (very impressive) examples of Sabrina's sculpting work, and I think she wanted to show off her skills. But presumably the short time frame did her in. -

when Sabrina was trying to glue the head on, she was squishing cake pop glue all over it. All I could think of is "what is a slice of that mess going to look like???" -

I noticed that Kardea (when Anna had her meltdown) said something like "the best cooks learn at home." Maybe she's just wrong. -

I was kind of surprised Mei won (though it was beautiful looking). One of the judges pointed out that it was really more of an appetizer dish, which is fair. I wonder if Marc (being nice) telling Britt he had the pepitas gave her the idea to use them, and they the judges said what a wonderful idea it was :) I thought Carlos' dish wasn't a weeknight dinner, so I was worried that this aspect wouldn't count against him given the tie. Glad Jet won on taste. -
all I could think re: the shrimp is that deveining is a PITA, and with a 20 minute time limit, horrible.

One could similarly ask why they did "Earth Day" a full month before Earth Day. -
I think that Padma got a bit sad at PYKAGs only once the chefs had been around the block a few times and she'd had a chance to get to know them. I don't think that she was that way for the first chef to go.

Wow, so my opinion of David was shared by almost all of you! I am so glad to see the back of him. His idea of stuffing gnocchi made no sense; I couldn't believe TWO PEOPLE thought that was a good idea. I think in this case even if his wasn't the worst of the three in the cook-off he would have been off'd just because he looked like such a disaster in that open kitchen for all the judges to see. Love Kristin, but I always have. is 15 chefs an unusually small number to start with? Seems so to me. I personally could have done without the discussion of horoscopes. A bunch of hooey (I have a PhD in planetary science, so I'm biased against "space" stuff that is nonsense.) I know, the chefs chose to talk about it, but I can't believe there wasn't more interesting stuff they also chose to talk about that they could have shown us.

She comes across as very full of herself. I don't like her either. -

The TMobile ad with Dax Shephard and Jason Mamoa-- wow, I hope they were well paid for that embarrassment. -

I agree on all points. And I do believe that when the judges see an Indian dish come out, they almost have to know it's Maneet. She is way too predictable on that account (I know, she has occasionally ventured outside that area, but not often). Maybe I'm not being fair, since there are lots of chefs who steer Asian, so maybe it's just harder to pin an Asian dish on a particular person. But she really does go down the Indian lane more often than impresses me as a broadly creative chef.- 308 replies

I saw an ad the other day for an Rx for a disease that they only referred to by 4 letters. It meant nothing to me. I even looked it up, and it STILL didn't ring a bell for me! Shouldn't they be pitching this drug to doctors who treat this sort of disease? Since I assume that you only pitch a drug to a disease by acronym if the person already knows they have that acronym disease. -

I just looked up Wildcard Kitchen and the description leaves me cold. (Fake) trash talking? Not for me. -
If you get a streaming device (I have an AppleTV device which is pricey, but Amazon Firestick is pretty inexpensive) you can watch using the Bravo app. That's what I do.

I mentioned up above about this ad, that these two people spoke no more than 5 words to each other on this "date." Who sets up a "date" like that??? I also see this ad way too much.
