  1. she poured it into a pot-- for a cooking broth I think (the court bouillon?)
  2. I thought Maneet was obnoxious this episode (that whole thing when Nini asked her who she'd rather go against in the next round and she said "well I've beat both of them so I don't care" in her stupid ripped jeans). I really like Nini's attitude so was sorry she lost, though it was pretty obvious from the comments. Did anyone else think that Maneet's stand-up lollypop wings looked ... kinda phallic? Also, I thought that move with the champagne bottle risked getting glass in the pot. Yeah, I'll be rooting against Maneet going forward.
  3. I am also grey (though I started around 40) and am glad not to have the cost and hassle and white stripe. (I go to church and sit in the balcony and wish that the older ladies down below could know how the stripe looks). Anyway, I get the same feels from the lumify ads. Like do I want to put drops in my EYES (those priceless things) to make them look BRIGHTER? Seriously?
  4. re: only seeing a few episodes, you may be missing the "qualifying" rounds, which show up on the streaming service in a different "show" sometimes. I think on the FN app it showed up as "extras" or something like that. Amanda was discussed here recently, but not much was said because not much was shown. Just the minimum.
  5. Just mentioning the rather tacky "Wayfair screening room" or whatever they called it. With color-coordinated purple spatulas in crocks along the wall. I guess it's a subliminal hint that purple == stuff to order online.
  6. So did the cat appear originally? I just watched it for the first time and Marcus made some kind of joke about "is there actually a cat?"
  7. The light choices seemed to be more aesthetic than functional. Like do I want my headlights to look like an L, or a C, or an O, etc.
  8. Oh I hate that one. Mostly because the young actor playing her son is an AWFUL actor. He says something like "are we done now?" in what I guess is supposed to be an exasperated tone, but it sounds like he's about to laugh. Or maybe he's supposed to sound like he's about to laugh and he sounds exasperated. Either way, it doesn't sound the least bit authentic.
  9. I just watched this episode last night, and I got the impression it was NOT Noma that Marcus is at. They showed him walking by the outside, peering in the window. I don't think he'd do that if that's where he was working.
  10. yeah, they can edit the judges comments however they want, and the scores are just presented, so..... That would be rather slimy though. I hope they are more transparent. But if she didn't actually win, she wouldn't be in the next round (since I assume these were filmed before all hell broke loose?) I guess we shall see.
  11. yeah that's the ad. There's also a guy falling asleep on his companion's shoulder. It's weird all around.
  12. and cereal is not cheap these days. Just easy.
  13. I hadn't noticed that they didn't show that bracket. It will be interesting to see how they deal with it. I imagine they'll have to use cutting room floor footage to buik up the other contests and then just show Amanda as the winner of hers for undisclosed reasons.
  14. That FrontDoor app bugs me for a different reason (though I agree about the counter). Don't more fixes involve at least one trip to the hardware store? Do you bring the FrontDoor guy along with you to wander the aisles at Home Depot?
  15. You didn't imagine it. I noticed that also, and thought "wait a minute, they didn't showcase her." I wonder if they are going to do any explaining. And why put her in the clips if they aren't going to show her competing? I enjoyed the episode, but got a bit tired of the "either one could win round." I know they have to say it, but it got a bit old.
  16. So I've seen this ad for Otezla (I think) for plaque psoriasis about a zillion times, but for the first time I wondered: Why is Ted, who is having a date with a much cuter woman, going to a movie, not talking to her at all, and then lightly hugging her and saying goodbye at the end? Is that a normal first date? Wouldn't you go for a coffee afterward to chat? I mean, how do you get any kind of vibe whether this person is of interest to you by going to a movie? I mean, my first date with my husband *was* a movie (a french language movie because I hinted at it saying I was taking french at the time and....) but we went to a coffee shop afterward to, you know, talk about it.
  17. One of the judges (and I think it was Brooke again) approvingly used the word "unctuous" for a sauce. This is what it means: 1. characterized by excessive piousness or moralistic fervor, esp. in an affected manner; excessively smooth, suave, or smug. 2. of the nature of or characteristic of an unguent or ointment; oily; greasy.
  18. A couple random things I noticed: When Guy tasted the chimichuri with green beans, he handed the spoon back to the chef who then rapped it on the side of the bowl (presumably to empty it). YUK! I guess we are officially past Covid. I am so glad the "Latina from Venezuela who shows other Latinas that you can come up from nothing and succeed" lost. How many times did she say some variation on that? I remember Chris Scott from TC (speaking of which, FN has seriously gotten over their aversion to ever mentioning that show) and was glad he got by despite his ridiculous use of the brick. Although one contestant calling ToC the "greatest display of chef talent ever" or something like that was ridiculous. I am quite sure that TC has is far more influential than ToC, especially since the three of the four ToC champions CAME FROM TC! Does anyone else think that Maneet looks *really* thin?
  19. I find her freakin' annoying. The way she says "the world is so crazy now" makes me think she's half-way to buying gold and canning butter. (Yes, apparently people do that, if I can believe the weird stuff that FB puts on my feed)
  20. love the detective work!
  21. I get that. But what does it prove? What does it have to do with cell phones? Or golf?
  22. in the consumer cellular ad with the golfers and Ted Dansen, why does Ted say "Birds" at the end when the guy sinks the shot?
  23. I keep seeing this Amazon ad for one of their "small businesses" that you can buy from on their site. It's for someone who makes cocktail garnishes (and I don't really pay attention but I gather Amazon helped her expand her business). Anyway, they seem to be dehydrated citrus slices. Now I have never in my life seen dehydrated citrus slices as a cocktail garnish. Aren't garnishes typically fresh? Mint leaves, lemon rind, cherries or jalepenos, etc.?
  24. I think she was on the pandemic one that took place in Portland? Looks like she finished 5th. I did recognize her. There were a lot of Top Chef talent there (Ilan not included LOL). And the ladies do well AGAIN.
  25. I ... Do ... Not ... Get ... This ... Ad what's with the Vikings?
