  1. DragonFaerie, I am so very sorry for your loss. Your husband fought the good fight, and you were with him every step of the way. What an ordeal you have been through! Please be kind to yourself as you grieve and know that many are thinking of you at this difficult time.
  2. My theory is that it's their way of saying, "Hey, look. I'm not fat. I'm pregnant!" Because God forbid that a fundy wife gain weight.
  3. Is it just me, or does the new Primetimer logo look more like the gay freedom flag than TV color bars?
  4. I think you meant to say Lauren. Unless you know something I don't! 😋
  5. Hello, pretty bird! What a handsome boy you are.
  6. Thank you for the birdie cuteness, Christina. Your pictures made me smile. (That Sunny, what a feathered hussy!) 😉 By coincidence, I had just gotten a text message from the woman who took in the lost male budgie I fostered last December. She wanted me to know that he's "the sweetest bird," and she's named him Sky.
  7. The problem with Jessa's makeup is that she should not emphasize both eyes and lips at the same time. It's just too much. The rule is that if you are wearing bright lipstick, downplay your eye makeup. On the other hand, if you go for dramatic eye makeup, you should choose a lighter, more neutral shade of lipstick. The overdone makeup makes Jessa look like a clown or a hooker.
  8. I always thought that Laurence Olivier would have made a great Ashley. He would have had the acting chops to fake a Southern accent, and he had such charisma that it wouldn't be such a stretch of the imagination to picture Vivien Leigh swooning over him. After all, she was doing that in real life and would soon become Mrs. Olivier.
  9. I saw it at the Castro Theater, a 1920s movie palace in San Francisco. The first time Mammy appeared on the screen, the audience went wild. The whole theater broke out in applause and laughter. It was so much fun seeing GWTW on the big screen with an appreciative audience.
  10. I have those dreams, too, except that it's the first day of school and I don't know what courses I'm taking or where the classrooms are. I am walking around the campus hoping to see something familiar that will jog my memory.
  11. I have no children in real life, but I also have a recurring baby dream. I suddenly realize that I have a baby. I'd forgotten about having a child, and the the baby hasn't been fed or changed in days. I feel terrible pangs of guilt. I think the child is symbolic of myself because for much of my childhood I didn't have a mother in my life. This is my subconscious mind's way of saying that I need to take better care of myself.
  12. "People got to relieve themselves, and you want them doing it in the proper place." -- J.D. Brilliant! 😄
  13. I suspect that the words "someone you love (or need to love)" is a reference to Josh.
  14. Add me to the list of people who don't mind going alone to the movies. I've been doing it for 40 years. I just don't think it is that big of a deal.
  15. I need to hear this every single day. Thanks, ChiCricket.
  16. I had always assumed that the child-size toilets made toilet training quicker and easier for the littles. Toddlers might resist using the normal-sized toilets because to a child, they're big and scary. But they might be more willing to use a child-size toilet that is not much bigger than a potty chair. Also, with side-by-side toilets the younger ones can be encouraged to model the behavior of their older siblings, which could speed up the learning curve a bit and save a lot of diaper changes.
  17. I wonder if Jinger got a shit ton of baby hats as gifts from fans, and this is her way of saying thank you.
  18. In the Duggars and Their World subforum, Jeeves called Jeremy "The Most Reverend Pretentious Pants." Brilliant!
  19. Jana herself seems content to live quietly with a female companion in her parents' home. This arrangement may suit Michelle just fine because she has two adult women to relieve her of the burden of childcare and housework. But for Jim Bob, it might be a different story. He might be freaking out about the lesbian rumors floating around in cyberspace - rumors to which Michelle may be in denial or happily oblivious to. Jim Bob, on the other hand, may see Jana as a threat to the brand. Her lifestyle doesn't conform to the Gothard narrative. She's as close as you can get in Gothard land to an independent single woman. This nonconformity must be deeply threatening to a fundie patriarch like Jim Bob and might make him even more motivated to venture beyond his comfort zone and let Jana have a social media presence so that - in addition to attracting more potential suitors - she seems more "normal" to fans of the show.
