  1. I can't help but wonder if the social media presence is out of desperation on JB's part. Jana is nearing 30 and unmarried, a public relations disaster by his standards. Maybe JB thinks that putting her out there will help to lure a suitably Godly prospect or two.
  2. I don't know why, but it grinds my gears when married women with children talk about going on a "date night." Hey Jill, guess what? You're married. You're not dating. You've never dated. You don't even know what dating is. And eating takeout food at home isn't a "date." /rant
  3. Christina87, Roy is (was?) a beautiful bird. She looks exactly like my Charlie, the first bird I owned. Love2Dance, I have been thinking seriously about getting another bird. They are so much fun to have around, like having your own miniature three-ring circus. And they really do have distinct personalities. A budgie would also keep my retired stay-at-home husband happy while I go out with friends, because he'd have someone to talk to and keep him company. I appreciate the comments on cataract surgery as I will have to have that done also, and I've been wondering what the experience will be like.
  4. Fluffy is adorable. I love budgies and have had four of them. The last one died in 1997. I was so heartbroken that I never got another bird. But I couldn't bear to part with the bird cage, which had been home to all my birds. It sat vacant in the garage for over 20 years. Then, just before Christmas, I read a post on our neighborhood website about a lost budgie. Some neighbors had found him and were keeping him until the owner could be located. But I could see from the photo they posted that the little guy was pretty stressed out, and he had nowhere to perch except on tables or curtain rods. He was all fluffed out with his head turned around and tucked into his feathers. I contacted the couple who had him and offered to loan my empty cage, and they happily accepted. When the owner still hadn't been found after a week, they asked me if I would like to take over fostering the bird, and I was delighted to bring him home. He was a pretty blue boy but quite shy and easily spooked. I would like to have kept him but felt he'd be better off with his owner and preferably with other birds, since he didn't seem to be very well socialized. A nice lady who'd lost her own blue budgie offered to take him, thinking he might be the one she lost. When I brought him to her house, she took a look and said she didn't think it was the same bird, but I let her have him anyway because she had three other birds and he'd have company. When I left, the little blue runaway was "kissing" one of new his cage mates, so even though I hated to give him up, I think he'll be better off in his new home. And now I'm thinking of getting a bird of my own.
  5. I'm guessing that, if it's a girl, Jessa will try to outdo Jinger by choosing an even more frilly, multi-syllable Victorian-sounding name such as Arabella.
  6. Point well taken. What I was getting at was not that it's wrong or weird for guys to do housework - obviously, this type of gender stereotyping is outdated - but still, it makes me wonder, what the heck does Jill do all day (besides making stupid videos)?
  7. Cute video, but I don't get it. Derick is in law school. Jill is a stay-at-home mom. Why is he doing the vacuuming?
  8. If Anna were pregnant, she wouldn't have to fake the smile.
  9. jjane, prostate cancer is one of the slowest-growing cancers and is highly curable when caught early. Good luck to your husband, but I'm sure he won't need it and he'll be just fine.
  10. At the very least it needs a good dose of cumin and a dash of hot pepper sauce.
  11. Christina87, I am so sorry to hear that you lost your little green girl Kiwi. I love budgies, too, and have had four over the years. They all had unique personalities. They were part of the family, very much loved and deeply mourned when they left us. We had a backyard "funeral" for our last bird, Henry, complete with music, a wine toast and a memorial stone for his burial place hand-painted with his portrait and dates. I keep little framed photos of my birds on our dresser.
  12. I give John David a pass on the "sexy" altar kiss. After all, he'd never been in a relationship before or even dated. He is so naive, and his upbringing was so sheltered, that he probably didn't realize that what he did might seem inappropriate. He was just trying to be funny.
  13. I suspect that she copied a recipe that was originally in Fahrenheit but had been converted to Celsius. When you do this on a calculator, the answer goes out to several decimal places.
  14. As a public service, I converted the recipe to Fahrenheit. 93.333ºC is 200ºF, and 176.667ºC is 350ºF. In case any of you all are brave enough to try the recipe.
  15. That would probably be more fun than their sex life.
  16. I think she's just gained a lot of weight. Anna is eating her feelings like Josh. Look how full her face is, and check out her lower legs in the Smuggar-Keller photo.
  17. Mr. Bay and I don't I have children or other immediate family still living, so it's just the two of us. We got invited out but decided not to accept. Giuseppe, the owner of an Italian restaurant where we've been regulars for over 30 years lives near us and asked us to join him, his wife and son and some of his employees for grilled filet mignon. He's from Argentina and his wife is from Brazil, so Thanksgiving turkey isn't part of their tradition. We are both rather shy and introverted, and we felt that the enticement of not having to cook wasn't enough to compensate for the stress we would have felt in an unfamiliar environment making social chit-chat with people we don't know that well. And we really would have missed our turkey dinner! Not to mention all the lovely leftovers that we wouldn't be getting. So I thanked Giuseppe for his kind offer and roasted a turkey breast at home with all the usual sides (which I prepared the day before so they only needed reheating). It was a pleasant, relaxing day.
  18. My first thought when I saw that picture was "Baby is the size of a pumpkin."
  19. That picture makes Felicity look like she has a unibrow.
  20. I've had three. The prep is the worst part, especially if you have to drink that foul-tasting liquid. But the procedure itself is not bad at all. They will sedate you so you won't know a thing until it's over. You'll be fine, I promise.
  21. Oops, you're right. Fall back, spring ahead. My bad! But they still get an extra hour. *wink, wink*
  22. I just realized that Daylight Savings Time starts this weekend. That means JD and Abbie get to have an extra hour in bed on their wedding night.
  23. While watching the video, I noticed that Izzy appears to be left-handed. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm a lefty, too.
  24. Is anyone else counting the days until this wedding, or is it just me? I am so looking forward to it.
