  1. How long before Michael is hustling personal messages on Cameo. He's one of the creepiest people ever. I also think he will even end up in jail for some kind of embezzlement or another grift.
  2. I caught a rerun from last season, where Lenny showed up unexpectedly in NYC, and Frank found out he was dying of cancer. "Irish Exit." Brr. Prescient. (Though Treat Williams died in a motorcycle accident.)
  3. Apparently, Mayor Adams, who is an ex-cop, was micromanaging Commissioner Sewell's office to the point that he demanded approval of all promotions. It's a shame, because she'd done some good things, and crime was noticeably down since she took the job.
  4. Queen Latifah is getting a Kennedy Center honor! https://wapo.st/42W4ift
  5. Well, eventually I think he'll run into Danny Reagan! ;-)
  6. Anyone else think of this season finale when a truck ran into an interstate overpass, which then collapsed, in Philly?
  7. I liked the psychic, too. The actor was good, and she got different things out of Danny than his usual sidekicks.
  8. Sometimes with the patients, the bump is just the tip of the iceberg! ;-) Shoulder bump lady was very much afraid of general anesthesia, which is understandable. But she also came across as very controlling: both complaining about how her housework made her shoulder hurt AND how she was responsible for working full time and taking care of the kids & housework. If her husband really didn't help her, then he's another useless lump of fat. I love how Dr. Lee didn't believe the bump on the second lady's hand could be a pencil lead. As shown by all the people above in this thread, it happened a LOT when kids used sharp lead pencils to poke each other! Dr. Lee being her fun self, I loved that she wrote with the piece of graphite. Leg lady seems to be another person who has a lot more going on than just her skin condition. There are ways to combine both classic medicine AND alternative treatments. My mother used to do wound care and certainly went by the book in traditional treatment, but for stubborn wounds she would sometimes try things like Tea Tree oil and (believe it or not) Bag Balm. That stuff is GOOD. I feel bad for that woman and her son...she lives in NY State, so even if she's on a fixed income, she's probably eligible for home health care, which could come and treat her legs and change her dressings regularly...if she will let them.
  9. I think this is exactly what's going on with him. We can assume he continued his Zoom appointments with Doc Sharon throughout the season (we only saw them early on, but I am declaring that they continued). And he has a lot to work out. I hope Ted is continuing therapy (with a 7 hour time difference!) or Doc Sharon found someone good for him in KC. As much as he gave to AFC Richmond, Ted just got to where he found himself and has to spend the time and hard work on self-care. ...for the record, I don't think he's back with MIchelle, but they look like they are doing well co-parenting Henry.
  10. I realize that the wedding scene would have been better if TED had been the officiant. Who wouldn't want Ted to celebrate their wedding? And as weird and toxic as Beard and Jane are together, it's their choice to be together. Beard is a very strange man and would probably be bored in a more traditional relationship. (Also loved the bit at the very beginning where Jane was wearing one of Rebecca's blazers as a dress!)
  11. One delicious callback I noticed was that when McAdoo was set to take the penalty shot, Leslie moved his body protectively in front of his wife. Leslie still hasn't gotten over that McAdoo shattered the window of his office and made him spill tea all over himself.
  12. So a few weeks back, when they were in Amsterdam, I noticed they paid a lot of attention to a poster on the wall of the houseboat which looked like an antique KLM poster and I thought huh, what if hot guy is actually a pilot for KLM? Then I thought nah, they won't go there. But I did correctly call that Willis(!) Beard would not leave. And he and Jane getting married at Stonehenge is exactly the sort of wedding I think they would plan. I'm going to have to go back and watch it again to catch all the detail, but it seemed like Keely still hadn't chosen between Jamie and Roy. And Sam did make the Nigerian team? It wasn't quite clear whether Nate was an assistant coach again. But I think most of us felt in our bones that Roy Kent was going to be the next coach of Richmond. So many lovely moments in the finale. I teared up when the team sang So Long, Farewell to Ted. It was perfect. It was also great to watch the people outside of the stadium watching the final. I loved Doc Sharon jumping up and down on her bed. And that she is now a staff member at Richmond. And Rebecca's decision to sell 49% of the team to the fans follows on the theme that has been there very much this season, that the team belongs to the fans. One hopes they will do better than the Green Bay Packers. Oh, and Rupert's comeuppance was magnificent. Striding around like Darth Vader, and finally shoving his own coach to the ground. And as much of an ass as that guy has been the whole series, he refused to take out an opposing player.
  13. No doubt, this is why Esther ended up in therapy...
  14. He also had a brief marriage to Carrie Fisher. He had a type.
  15. I think Ted would be a perfect high school football coach. Yes, he was a coach in a very high British professional league, and won a national championship (Not D-1) in the US. But Ted's great gift is making people better people, and high school is where it would have the greatest effect. I can see him coaching in Kansas, and eventually being Henry's high school coach.
  16. They have snookered me before, but I get a strong instinct that Beard will stay behind and coach Richmond. One of the things that a good coach knows is that eventually people need to leave the nest. So he's been Beard's best friend and protector for a long time, and it's time for that crazy dude to go out on his own. Though probably with Roy and Nate. I also look forward to whatever comeupance they give to Rupert.
  17. One of the things that occurred to me as we saw Lenny's downward spiral at the start of the episode was the destruction (self-destruction) of a genius. The world wasn't ready for what he had to say. At the same time, bland, blonde, preppy Gordon Ford has the number one late-night show in the country. He's what America wants to see. Midge's material came at a cost: playing the role of Young Wife until her husband walked out...and then her finding her way to her own two feet was the source of her comedy. Too edgy for Gordon Ford...but at least able to make her way in comedy with Susie kicking down doors for her, and her own intense ambition. (I went to see Judy Gold's show, and she said that comedy comes from pain, and from being an outsider. She said the funniest people are the ones who are women, POC, queer or otherwise outsiders...except for Jim Gaffigan, but he's Catholic.) And as noted, if by the mid-'60s, Susie is representing Dick Gregory, Eartha Kitt & Phyllis Diller, she's taking chances on outspoken, political clients. (Didn't we also find out she repped George Carlin?) Susie did pick talented, strong individuals who were groundbreakers. And of course, she broke Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. ;-) The Joan Rivers comparison was clearer as the show drew to a close: Joan had a huge apartment which was apparently one of the most beautifully decorated in New York...she entertained a LOT, and also never stopped working. And if you saw the Rivers documentary a few years ago, she also had a little room where she hung out and watched TV (and which had every joke she'd ever written on file.) Since "Hacks" was also inspired by Joan Rivers, as an older woman, I enjoyed that take on how a pioneer might have aged and I could also see Midge pulling the stunt pulled by Jean Smart when she paid a hack male comic $1 million never to walk onstage again. I did cry, but not at the end...but when Susie cried at the end of Midge's set on Gordon Ford's show. Midge & Susie were the central relationship of the show, and I'm glad we saw them happy and enjoying each other into this century. ETA: There's an excellent documentary about the history of the Automat, definitely worth streaming.
  18. "I love the bird. I call her Whore." Little Susie, happy at last. They could have done this a million different ways, and they chose this one, and I'm fine with it. I'm glad Moishe and Shirley are retiring, and glad that they could have an epiphany. In a mink coat and on the floor of a shower. Totally agree: Gordon Ford is a dick. But it was nice to see how the writers applauded her triumph. Abe and Rose FINALLY giving Midge some props. And Joel just being happy for her. Nice. Oh, Lenny. You broke everyone's heart. "How did you get in here?" "I'm magic." I know I'll have a lot more Feelings, but this was quite beautiful, and I will miss the hell out of this show.
  19. All of this! And her asking "whose fault is this"? She went through great pain and trauma, and modeled denial and repression to her adolescent son. Of course, she needs therapy, too, and Ted will no doubt support her in seeking it.
  20. I would say that taking a self-involved immature head case and turning him into a world-class player shows Roy's strength. He's a player's coach; Nate was a whiteboard guy, Beard translates Ted.
  21. They don't offer that regularly, though, if I remember from previous seasons...like they only offer the sergeants' test when the they need to fill up the list. Eddie's definitely not sergeant material, but she's got some instincts that would help her as a detective.
  22. I was watching the first season of the show on Hulu...she was called "Melissa" Baker, then "Abigail" after that. My guess is that Selleck probably forgot and called her Abigail when they were filming, and they just changed it. ;-) A friend of mine worked with Abigail Hawk on a play, and said she was lovely, and that Blue Bloods gave her a way to support herself & her kids, and do stage work. (She also said "hi" to me once at a theater event when that show was nominated for a prize!)
  23. 1) I think "Fat Bottomed Girls" would be a fine old-school song for Richmond. I love that Freddie Mercury was briefly the owner of AFC Richmond and that Rebecca's father knew him in art school. 2) I totally believe that Beard was in prison for drugs. (So he was a kicker and Ted was a punter.) 3) I think there are going to be one or two more women owners of teams next season. 4) It makes me happy to think of Keeley on on the hotel channels in England and the EU. 5) So, Jamie's Dad: rehab or jail? 6) Still don't care about Nate. I like Jade, though. 7) Jamie's boyhood poster of Roy was HOTT. 8) The truth bomb Ted's going to drop is that he's leaving AFC Richmond. Duh.
