  1. Live!! Several cast members of KK and CK doing fundraiser zoom interview.
  2. This brand is also great - plus it's aluminum free!! You definitely don't want aluminum in your food, cooking utensils or body care products! Yeah, when did that happen? I have a co-worker who's nickname also was derived from "midget" (he's 5'7) and he never saw it as an insult.
  3. I don't know if it happened at work or not. However, I did say the person might not have meant it to be an insult. I see so many people who take too much to heart when I was told growing up to "get over it". Sure people may be clueless but there is such a thing as not letting trivial things get to you. If someone suggested I dye my hair blonde, I'd reject it, but not feel insulted by it. And yes, she was whining.
  4. Especially since there is a scene in Not to mention the dishonest tactics used by Chloe Grace Moretz' character to get the job at the hotel. Great message.
  5. Big WORD to this! I just had a work mandated diversity zoom meeting and while listening, one of the other participants whined about being told how she should consider straightening her naturally curly hair. She called it a "micro aggression". I couldn't help but speak up and say it was just a suggestion (she was an on camera personality for one of our TV news stations) and maybe the person who said it wasn't aiming to insult her. Not everything is an insult - maybe it's constructive criticism. Personally, I think she would have looked better with straight hair - but that's just between us!! When all else fails, you can always make your own laundry soap.
  6. I'm curious on your thoughts on Basil Rathbone's portrayal of the character. He's been my favorite older interpretation of the character, although I hated that Watson (Nigel Bruce) was made to be a doddering fool half the time.
  7. This one is right up there with the "Elvis didn't really die" conspiracy!!
  8. I'm still working on my ideas for working from home. Working remotely seems to be the way for the moment. So far I have the basics of what I want to do (I've been messaging those who might be of assistance) and what would be needed to get it up and running (state business license, someone to help me create and maintain a website, etc.) and how to advertise it. Covid, IMO is an excuse. You should not be discouraged. I'm lucky that I still have a day job but I want to become independent - especially due to Covid. Traditional small businesses (brick and mortar) are being squeezed, that's true. I noticed signs all over town for office space because many offices are operating remotely, or have gone out of business completely. That doesn't mean it's impossible. We did a local story about a guy who worked the habachi at a local Japanese restaurant, but got let go when Covid shut things down. He decided to take the plunge and get a food truck and make his living that way. Many other people in the food business have done this. Another local guy who lost his job started a car detailing business and is doing quite well (driving to clients to clean their cars). I'm a writer so I'm trying to make a go as a freelance writer, although I'm also passionate about education (kids are out of school still and the "long distance learning model" is not cutting it ) and looking to become a tutor for homeschoolers. I still need to iron out a few wrinkles. Forget the TV. There's not much on these days and you'd be better off without it. The TV news makes me mad, and any TV show made after 2010 makes me cringe! I don't know which state you're in or what the lockdown restrictions are (since they vary from state to state) but I think there are opportunities, It just takes a bit of thinking outside the box.
  9. True. Then again, considering they were on location shooting in Hawaii (so everyone had lived there full time), I can understand wanting to keep shooting there. Jack Lord chose to remain there when the show ended. Interestingly enough, Magnum PI premiered the fall following H5-O's cancellation (1980).
  10. I have never heard this. Does anyone have it on tape to hear? I've listened to his show on and off over the years and I've never heard of this segment.
  11. I'm pretty sure they do. Many of them go to people who are working remotely so they have the time to be home and spend it with their new buddy. Last year, when the shutdown first happened, we had a local viewer who sent us a short video of her cat meowing. According to her, the cat was protesting her presence since she was supposed to be at work!
  12. I don't know about all areas but my area, the pound population has gone way down since covid. Seems everyone stuck at home wanted a companion.
  13. This!! Oh so much this!! This is also my point. I've grown up seeing injections on TV News, so even if it did bother me (or anyone else), they could just choose to look away. Interestingly enough, there is never a complaint about scenes we shoot for blood drives, which have people hooked up and seeing bags filling with blood!
  14. I'm really getting frustrated with TPTB when it comes to what's appropriate for air! Naturally, 1/2 the stuff we've been doing lately is related to the vaccine, but after more than 15 years (without complaint to my knowledge) it was decreed we cannot show the needle going into people's arms. They reason some people are squicked out by it. Then when every other story is vaccine related, FOX & CNN put out video of people getting needles in the arm. Naturally we editors have to be creative and cut around it but some editors on other shifts act like they never received the memo and use the needles. Then the producers use the video ID numbers from the previous broadcast and are distressed (!) to see needles on screen. When politicians go on live TV to get it, by all means, they say, show needles and all!! Then we're back to, "No needles!! Think of the children!". I don't understand why it's such a problem to show this. Mainstream news companies clear this with their departments and it's not like we're looking at video shot for foreign markets (which have different standards) so it's meant for viewing in the US without violating FCC standards. They also gave us grief over the Kobe plane incident. We ran video of the crash site at the time (for days!) yet, when talking about an update on the investigation, we're forbidden to use that and use only file of him. It's not as if the crash scene had body parts in it or anything inappropriate. Meanwhile, the producers did the old switcheroo today and for some reason, were a slow as molasses for the first 2 hours of show. Even my partner noticed this and we both brought this up to the supervisor. He said he'd talk to them, but I can't help but think they are not listening. Or maybe getting passive aggressive.
  15. I agree! Bad enough Henry lost one child, he shouldn't have to outlive both of his children!! They could always do a flash forward maybe a decade or so in the future in which Henry has passed on offscreen of old age and Frank takes his place as the senior surviving Reagan. I know they have Eddie as part of the family now, but I have wondered of there would be a storyline in which Danny decides to start dating again? I caught an episode in which he meets a widowed nurse who was being stalked by a rejected suitor (who surprise! was once married to a cop), and wondered if they were going to have them get together at some point.
  16. Possible. It wasn't uncommon for some film stars to do stage work so it still could be someone who was well known and was doing stage (or TV) work in NY. Another possibility this person was visiting a mutual friend in NY (hence, the dinner party where the encounter occurred), or was filming on location in NY.
  17. Cosby was better know for his stand up comedy and TV than film, even though he had done a few by '79.
  18. Warren Beatty? He's over 6' and was always on the prowl. He was well known by this time - although women usually ran to him, I don't think he had to try to molest one. Damn this is a tough one!
  19. I doubt it's John Ritter - people who knew him tell me he was a super nice guy - not the type to molest someone. Plus, he was a TV star by that point, and hadn't done much film yet. Maybe we can try process of elimination based on reputation? I still think it's a person who was well established in the industry prior to 1979-80. Barkin was in her 20s not a teenager, so the idol likely came to her attention when she was a teen (about a decade prior). Got another two: I've heard of this behavior before - it's classic sociopath! The early part of the relationship is known as "love bombing" - in which the sociopath lavishes love and attention on the significant other for the first few months, then suddenly turns on them. It's not bad enough to mess with someone but to have them recruit others for sex? Uggh!
  20. I also had another thought - maybe George C. Scott? He had a reputation as an abusive prick and he stood about 6'1.
  21. A nice thought. If anyone ever rerecords "Rock & Roll Heaven", that "helluva band" is going to be something unprecedented in any universe!
  22. What really hurts is that Ms. Wilson was a local and used to come to the station for interviews, etc. . She was very active and had plans for releasing an album and celebrating the 60th anniversary of The Supremes. It would seem (though COD has yet to be released) she died in her sleep. It’s as if her heart just gave out. No one saw this coming.
