  1. Oh yeah, that reminds me of a woman I was following for a while on YT. First she was doing Atkins, then something else, then she went to Mexico for the surgery. Sadly, she had a ton of post-surgical issues and it has not been smooth going for her. I think she is better now, but it must have taken her a good year or more to deal with the complications, etc.
  2. OK, maybe I'm thinking about Amber too much, but this morning in the bathroom, I wondered if she was able to use the toilet. We saw her sit on one, but she's got a lot of fat. I wonder if she can do what she needs to do without getting it on her skin. Might she wear diapers? The logistics of being that big are overwhelming. Is there no point where you say to yourself, jeez, 'I can't see my feet?' or 'I don't fit behind the wheel of my car anymore.' so that you start to try and get things in hand? Who wants to do their bathroom functions on a bed or wear diapers due to weight?
  3. If you remember, Melissa (season 1) became a support group leader for Dr Now's practice. I don't think he's just a surgery mill. As far as I know, from people who had the surgery and talked about the process online, some kind of counseling is required. I even commented on 'Fat Doctor' (a UK show) about people who didn't seem to have addressed their mental issues with food and was told by the show's producers that they require counseling in the UK, they just don't show it on TV. After my comment (and I'm sure I wasn't the only one) they did have a few episodes where they showed therapy sessions. I'm sure there's some issue about privacy, both here and in the UK, that puts a damper on showing therapy for all of the patients.
  4. Something I noticed about the surgery - Dr Now said her stomach would be the size of a baseball. Previously, he and other surgeons I've seen said the stomach would be the size of an egg or walnut. This seems more realistic to me. Maybe the weight doesn't drop off in 12 months, but it for some reason, it just seems better over the long term, especially re getting adequate nutrition. I've read where some post-ops actually become malnourished; this might alleviate that. And heck yeah about the brush going into the skin folds. It looked so hard and abrasive and the depth of the fold! Oy! I admit to watching her preview a few times on TLC's site (I'm terrible, I know it) and just cringed every time. I remember Amy - the woman from MTV who had gastric bypass. I even sent her a few supportive emails after her show aired. Here is her info about her struggle with lymphodema. http://www.amylhwilliams.com/lymphedema.html What a burden to deal with.
  5. I agree that she is the best spoken and most thoughtful person they've had on here. I couldn't believe she had to go on a luggage cart in the airport. I've had mobility issues and they bring you a wheelchair or one of those golf cart things that carries a few people. Why couldn't she get one of those? Her weight as a child was shocking. How do parents let that happen? My mother was huge as a kid, even bigger as an adult until she got into her 40's or so. My grandmother was a nurse and should have known better, but I think my mother was spoiled - one daughter died and she had 2 brothers who doted on her. Maybe my grandparents just turned a blind eye since they had already lost one child, I don't know, but it's something I never understood considering my grandmother's training - and don't have the nerve to ask my elderly mother now. I thought she was barefoot, too, but when I looked again, it looked like she had on sandals. I can't imagine walking and feeling your legs sagging around your feet. Jebus. Another strange boy friend - though at least he expressed doubts about staying around someone who was eating themselves into the grave.
  6. Anybody here in HR or temp hiring? Is Whitney so big that she couldn't be placed in an office? I know there are anti-discrimination laws, but reality is reality (try being over 50 and looking for a job...). She seems to get around wherever she wants to go; I don't see why she can't go find a job, even if it is only part time. If she were hustling to get to work each day and limited in the eating she could do at her desk, she might lose some (some) weight relatively easily. She is attractive and kinda bubbly - I wouldn't mind having her at the front, but maybe others would.
  7. 1) Along the lines of feeder porn - the other day at work YouTube just happened to pop up a video about a feeder couple. I listen to the internet,at work, but can't look at the pictures too much (for obvious reasons, they are paying me to work). This works pretty well for BBC documentaries or the news, but I swear, every time I couldn't believe what I was hearing and went to look at the video, they were showing a picture, of some huge naked woman. Basically a head and feet. Then you have this guy talking about heeding his woman, weighing her for the Guinness book of records, and being among the first to do feeder porn movies. Good googa mooga. Just when you think you've seen it all... 2) Reading all this stuff about Penny in her bed, I remembered having to use a bed pan a few times in the hospital. It is such an unnatural way to go, who the heck would want to do that for years on end? Jeez. 3) Penny should be shot for feeding that garbage to her kid.
  8. I forget what she was doing, but Whitney was having a 'conversation' with her parents outside by the car. My son is 37 and lives with me while getting his PhD. If he ever spoke to me that way while living under my roof, he'd have to go find a room in student housing. We have a good, friendly relationship, but there's a line and Whitney seems to cross it frequently. OK, 2 things 1) I know about fat acceptance and all that, but was it wrong for her father to think that a 1 piece would have been more appropriate? I have no problem with Whitney going out to the beach and doing her thing, but why in a bikini? Isn't that just inviting the looks and stares? 2) I did find it interesting to hear her talk about things that were starting to bother her - chairs, movie seats, car seat belt, etc. Folks always post 'why didn't people change when they were 300 lbs and started to see problems; maybe they wouldn't have gotten to 500 lbs.' Now I get it. I could also finally picture people who got to that point and just gave up. It's gonna be a hard road for Whitney and I'm sure others get to her point and just give up. If you get big enough, you're not going out to work anymore, though you might get something to do at home - giving you 24 hr access to the fridge and eating all day, making things worse. I know some gamers on YT and they are massive - big to start out with and then all day in front of the computer doesn't help. Once they get disability due to weight, it's like they don't even bother any more. So, I'm glad Whitney is starting to see the light now, but I have no idea whether she'll lose weight based on her current eating and activities.
  9. The people on the new shows look like terribly sad situations. I think that even after they lose the weight, think of the skin surgeries, the pain, all because of food. That poor young woman sliding down the stairs; I have no idea what they do for legs like that.
  10. What kind of injury does she get if she doesn't wear Spandex? The suspense is killing me.
  11. OMGosh - y'all have to Google "rocklynn group." It looks like a bad translation from another language into English. The plural of customer is 'customer's.' "In today’s world of increasing multi and social media customer’s not only want the information available to them, the expect it." There's no detail of what they do, any previous customers, nothing. Mary, Mother of Mercy... I wonder how many businesses they have beating down their door for 'optimazation'?
  12. Whoa - I looked at her Twitter picture and she said she was a 3x?? What kind of 3x are they selling in other parts of the country, cause neither Tara and certainly not Penny, look like 3xs to me. And at a 3x, Penny should be able to move around like Tara. Delusional. And just 'cause - her bed is by the front door? Eew. She says she is going down the path God laid out for her. I don't think God wants you to be a burden to your family and society. I have seen people on YouTube who've had bypass surgery. Two years down the line, they generally look pretty good (granted, most aren't starting from 600 lbs.). I'm not idealizing the situation: you can see some who've had problems, some who desperately need skin surgery, some who needed additional surgery. Yet, strangely enough - they've all lost weight! Only Penny is 2 years out from the operation and still immobile and big as a house. That's you, girlfriend, God ain't got nothing to do with your mess.
  13. Just an aside - I thought that was a long list for 3 people, and one of them being a (very sweet) child. I shop for 2 adults and I'd have to be completely out of food to have a weekly list that long. I wonder if Penny has stretched her stomach already?
  14. Ha! Almost choked on that one. So, Penny gets out of bed once every 2 months??? No wonder she can't walk. Why does Edgar go from store to store like that? If Penny wants to be the next coupon queen, she needs to get her ass out of bed and go trolling stores herself. Why don't any of these caregivers just say 'no' and stop. He looked worn out. What a comparison between her and Tara. That's what taking advantage of all the surgery offers and making a new life for yourself looks like. Not to diss Tara or anything, but if girlfriend is a 3X, I'm a size 2. Yeah, the white dress didn't do her any favors. I thought she would have bought some kind of top to go over it and smooth out the line a bit.
  15. The younger doctor has come around to helping people change how they eat before jumping into surgery. I'm not sure is a pure vegetarian, but he sure is preaching eating a whole food diet. I'm glad to see that change in outlook. His FB page seems 180 degrees from where he was in terms of outlook when the show aired. I'm just going to say here that it drives me nuts when patients can lose 40-80 lbs by controlling their intake and then go in for the surgery. I suppose at 600 lbs, you may not have much choice, but at 280 or so, why not continue with the eating program before you screw with all of your plumbing. My endo said they still don't know all of the long term effects of the surgery, so short of morbid obesity, why not try dieting (it wouldn't kill most of these people to go vegan)?
  16. Lord have mercy! You aren't kidding. I'm one of them colored gals from up north and that accent really gets my attention. I know it is stereotyping and I apologize to any southern sisters on this board, but when I hear a white person talk like that, I'm wondering where they keep their Klan robes. I'm old enough to remember separate newspaper listings for white and colored housing and jobs. When I was a kid, we couldn't try on clothes in some of DC's department stores. I know not everyone who speaks that way is a racist, but certainly my younger days influence my initial thoughts when I hear that kind of accent. That said, she's funny as hell. As for Whitney - I had no idea you could gain that much weight from PCOS. I know that Isa Chandra Moskowitz, the vegan cookbook author, wrote 'Appetite for Reduction' after she found out she had PCOS and hypothyroidism. Her earlier stuff wasn't light on the oils, etc. while this book is low fat vegan, which seemed to help her lose weight. I admit to not paying close attention to Whitney - I don't know if she's eating in her room, at fast food places, or whatev, but it does seem that more than the disease is at work here. I'll probably watch a few more shows, tho I don't care about her 'dancing.'
  17. Oh, I thought there was something more than just eating too many pizzas in college. That explains some of it, though I bet she didn't need to gain as much as she did. She reminded me of a woman who had a pituitary tumor. Gained weight and couldn't lose it, they did a brain scan thingy and found the tumor. Once it was removed, she went back to her regular weight. I've seen people gain weight in college, but not like the woman on the commercial, so yeah, I'm not surprised it's due to a deeper health issue.
  18. Christina looked great! I remember when she went to the nursing class last year. She was still very large and using a wheel chair at times. Shame on me for thinking she'd never be able to handle a nursing program. As long as she can get to a good place re eating solid foods, I think she can do whatever she wants. I forgot that she's just 24. She has the world in front of her.
  19. What did GR say to Sade? What did he offer her? Believe it or not, CAROLERS came to my door just as GR was choosing the finalists. Ack! I'm glad LaTasha won. She seemed steady, capable, and serious about her business.
  20. Again, Ramsay isn't a monster. He's not going to subject the craziness that is Stirling to some unsuspecting culinary instructor. As to the misogyny. Jeez Louise. I am listening to my DVD collection of Hell's Kitchen again and it just bugs the heck out of me to constantly hear the men talking about doing stuff like a girl, or calling each other bitches, etc.,, it's like every derogatory statement they make toward each other has something to do with them being or not being women. I have got to think that men talk that way with each other all the time, There are too many people from too many backgrounds that speak the same way about women for it to be coincidence. It's disgusting.
  21. Well, I have been ungracious to Stirling, BUT, he must have been a truly different and positive person for Ramsay to do what he did. Other than the woman who hurt her foot, I don't think he's ever let someone not in 3 rd place keep the jacket. This ole crabby gal had a little tear in her eye and once again, Ramsay shows he's not the monster many make him out to be. I still wouldn't want to work with Stirling, though, his personality would drive me nuts. He's kind of like Rochelle with the laughing. Nice enough people, but you want to smack them and say, 'Get serious!"
  22. I seem to have forgotten - what benefit do the HHs get? If we accept that the show is staged, that sometimes the other houses belong to staff or friends, and even if they are already in escrow (almost wrote 'foreclosure,' probably not too far from right with some of these folks), what do the HHs get for being on the show? Even on 'My First House,' they used to get some furniture or a gift card. I'm not sure if getting my 15 minutes is worth being laughed at or disliked by the whole country.
  23. What, you've never had pan-seared llama on a bed of lima beans? : ) Did I miss something - how did Steve hurt his leg? Did it just 'go out' on him? I don't recall him falling or anything while they handled the deliveries.
  24. Ha! I was thinking the same thing. First, I find the Cybermen boring, second, yeah, all you had to do was walk a little faster and get out of their way. Regarding "Don't cremate me," the guy said the dead retained consciousness, right? Does that also mean they can feel pain? So you shouldn't cremate someone because they will feel it? Or is it that their consciousness disappears if they are cremated, but not if they rot for 1000 years underground? I didn't quite get this part. Having had to have someone cremated, this was a bit too close for comfort.
