I can easily deny that "whole Captain America Saga has always been more about Bucky than Peggy." I don't even know where that perspective comes from. This story has never been an epic bromance and anyone wanting it was doomed to disappointment. This has always been Steve's story, period. A young man who becomes one of the world's greatest heroes. To quote from one of my favorite MCU movies, "a symbol to the nation, a hero to the world, the story of Captain America is one of honor, bravery, and sacrifice." Steve has had many strong friendships with several people on his journey; Sam (who is always ignored), Bucky, and Natasha. That Steve chose to reunite with Peggy, his one and only love is his reward for all he gave the world. I am thrilled that Steve got that happiness, love, and peace while he was still young enough to enjoy it. He deserved it and earned every moment.

I keep saying this, but damn, the music tonight was on point! I was jamming throughout the episode. I loved seeing the girls have a weekend bonding trip. I thought Elektra had another outstanding episode. Pulling up Blanca when she was moping and down, treating her friends to a weekend on the beach, getting the fake license to rent the car, telling off that rich snobby White woman, telling the wealthy guy with the fetish the hard truth, and that final farewell moment with Candy. I like that people keep bringing up Candy because it is realistic that people still think and talk about her. I liked the consistent storytelling with Elektra continuing to have to deal with the dead body in her room. I was glad that Blanca had that wonderful romantic moment on the beach after losing her salon. I was surprised that Adrian called. We'll see how that relationship plays out. All the women looked fabulous. Elektra is so damn tall. I cracked up at the rich snobby White woman's pointed belt. I remember when they were the style, everyone had them and I was desperate to get one. Bwah. It is these touches that give the show its authenticity. I really hope that Angel has stopped using, but it seems a bit too easy. She and Papi are still adorable. Fredricka is just downright evil.

The little boy playing Douglas is adorable. He has thrown himself in the role. I am enjoying him. I hope that they keep him around after Thomas' likely departure. He can live with Hope and Liam. -
So did I. They were really sweet. It is amazing how far they have come as a couple. Roller definitely knows Desna and that she wouldn't be happy on the run, away from Dean. I hope there is a way for him to return. I don't know why he confessed. He should have denied it and made them produce the witness in court. Toby isn't exactly the most reliable witness.
-
Wait, Roller isn't gone for good? The actor isn't leaving because that would be sad as hell. I hope there is a way to clear Roller. Clay is so pathetic. The prison break was weak. Damn, Ann and Joe were hardcore, burning down the casino and killing Benedict. Ann was right to do it though. Desna was going to get deeper and deeper with the Triad until the whole crew was killed. Polly was annoying crying over Joe, but hopefully this is the beginning of a reunion with Ken. Jenn and the botox was a secret, cracked me up.

I hadn't thought about that, but you are right. Teresa will likely let go of the last bit of humanity that she has been holding onto. I can't imagine how distraught and angry she will be when she wakes up. The judge, Boaz, etc. better run for the hills. I always thought Tony was the young bodyguard in Teresa's flash forward. Nope. I

Why shouldn't they have created Lyta? The prominent presence of the Zods is the show's one saving grace, IMO. Besides Seg and Nyssa were not in love and didn't have a romance. Their relationship was arranged to conceive a child just like they did on the show.
-
This has been my opinion forever.
-
Poor Tony. Just as he was getting himself together. Teresa should have sent him away. She will be distraught when she wakes up. I wonder who planted the bomb. I am leaning toward Boaz being the culprit. The judge still needs money from her. Dumas is doing well in business with her. I am glad that Teresa has forgiven Kelly Ann and now trusts her again. She earned it. Good riddance, el Gordo.

Elektra was a star in the episode. From her enjoyment of the drama in House of Evangelista to laying into Pray Tell to comforting a heartbroken Blanca. I loved how she pointedly told Blanca that they are raising children to leave them not to be parasites, reminding Blanca about how she left Elektra and then telling her that her children will appreciate their mother when she was dead. Her acting is still shaky, but Elektra is the woman.

This was the best episode because Jessica bonded with her family. She and her cousin are a strong team and work well together. I cracked up with them when Jessica pulled out the pepper spray. I hope we get more of them as a family unit. However, I find it difficult to get into the show. I don't like that Jessica's love interest is in another city. What is the point of that? I wish she had a potential love interest in the show. It is obvious now that the media guy will be hooking up with her assistant. The mayor's brother might have been a possibility, but he is a murderer. I actually wish that they had cast a Black actor in that role. The mayor's brother didn't kill Carl Jeffries. So who did he kill? And what does this have to do with anything? I liked the story with the deputy mayor. The mayor's lawyer/lover is the weakest link. I don't why they cast that One Tree Hill actress in that role. She is mediocre and also too young to be taken seriously as a credible threat to Jessica.

I was so upset at Pray Tell that I forgot to mention that I really enjoyed Damon's dance at the theater. I saw the Alvin Ailey II dancers perform, his signature work, Revelations was my favorite of all their numbers and that piece that Damon did was performed. ETA: I just saw the episode was titled, Revelations. Doh!

Ricky learnt those skills to survive on the street. Like the other children, Ricky lost his family, was homeless and engaging in prostitution to survive. If Blanca hadn't rescued him, after a year living on the streets Damon likely would have been Ricky, a desperate grifter. And Pray Tell knows this! I don't know the show's intent here, but it is so disappointing to see Pray Tell abandon his role as elder, mentor, and father so he can have sex.
-
I can't agree. It is the power differential. Elektra made the point, mothers, fathers, and elders don't have sex with the children in their community. Yes, these children are technically adults, but mothers, fathers, and elders are emotionally and physically responsible for them. They provide the parenting that they desperately need as they are thrown out into the world with no one else to care for them. Pray Tell was wrong as hell to break that cultural norm and commit that more, especially with Ricky who just found out that he is positive. Ricky needed Pray' support and guidance, not his penis. I haven't felt this disappointed in a tv character in a long time. I wouldn't say that MJ Rodriguez is a "force to be reckoned with," but her acting has definitely improved this season. There are still moments when I cringe, but I give her a lot of credit for her stronger performances.
-
Those of you who predicted a Pray Tell/Ricky hook up were right. I totally missed it and boy was that yucky. I was embarrassed for Pray Tell succumbing to the seduction of an emotionally vulnerable young man. When Elektra of all people rightly tells you off, you know you are dead wrong. The rest of the episode was a debacle. I couldn't figure out why Angel and Damon were going at each other. It was manufactured drama. All my sympathy lay with Blanca who started off so happy about Damon's success only to be bewildered by the horrible behavior of everyone around her and then was left alone in that apartment. Blanca's scene with Damon's teacher was beautifully moving and made me tear up as did that final moment with Elektra who will always be her mother no matter what happens between them. Elektra was so freaking tall in that final scene with Blanca. Blanca barely reached her chest.

In Memoriam: Entertainment Industry Celebrity Deaths
SimoneS replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
The Bluest Eyes was my favorite Toni Morrison book. I remember having a passionate argument with one of my college lit professors about the book. Toni Morrision had a life well live. Rest in peace, Toni. -
Seg is not responsible for Nyssa's yearnings. Lyta is the woman that Seg loves. If Nyssa can't manage some pride and move on, she should focus on the child she is supposed to be raising.
-
Or a couple that tries to kill each other, stays together. 🙂
-
I loved Roller and Desna in this episode. Desna saying, I am with a man that I tried to kill. They were so sweet in the casino even with the black comedy of Roller was offering to help her kill Melba. Ah, love Claws style. A couple that kills together stays together.
-
I agree. As much as Tony wants to be with Teresa there is just too much death and violence around her. It is better that she send him away to school in Europe.
-
More like Melba Splat. Ha. I knew it was going to happen when she backed out into the road. She lost all the sympathy I felt for her when Mac died last week so I just laughed. At least Dean has come to his senses. Listening to him, it makes sense that his obsession with mahjong and getting sucked in by Mac and Melba that was his way of dealing with the trauma of killing Duval. He just couldn't vocalize how he was feeling. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a reunion with Virginia. WTF, Toby! I can't believe that he gave up Roller. And WTF to UncleDaddy murdering the priest. These people are hardcore evil. Polly and Joe are annoying as shit. I hope Benedict kills Joe. Ken was weak, but he was nicer and not a monster like Joe.
-
The Flash is usually the first episode of the crossover. I wonder why they changed this. The Flash's audience watching the crossover is why the ratings for the other shows increase.
-
Agreed. I roll my eyes as at the demands that Lyta either step aside or be tossed aside so Nyssa can have Seg. I suggest that like Dev, Nyssa get some freaking pride and find someone who loves her. Since Superman isn't Black, it is obvious that Lyta isn't his biological grandmother, but who knows what that means for Seg and Lyta's relationship. It is very possible that Seg's son with Nyssa gets a new name and becomes Jor-El.
