  1. My first Bowie song was "Fame", but it was one of my sister's records. I was always stealing her records and playing them. I used to use my allowance and buy 45 rpms (yes I'm that old lol) for $1. Prince's "I Wanna Be Your Lover" was the first song I heard on the radio and the first 45 of his I purchased until I started buying albums. Sigh I miss music on vinyl.
  2. I think my cousin is one of the biggest fans of Prince. There are people on Facebook posting their condolences on his page like he was a close family member. RIP PRN
  3. I'm of the same mind as roamyn. I'm not spending a dime on iTunes for this show or any other. I vote with the other methods. I voted for Paxton, Owen, Adam, Hannah, and I think his name is Joe. The rest bore me to tears. I wouldn't have voted for Emily if I was being paid to do it because to me she is like vocal Ambien no matter what she sings. Allisan (sp) has a voice, but I don't particularly care for her tone. I don't care who wins at this point as long as I have some contestants that I enjoy listening to and watching perform. I've also never cared whose team any contestant is on. It's all producer manipulated anyway. I only care about the contestants I like. I cannot speak for any other viewer. jmho
  4. Rams land Titans' No. 1 overall pick in blockbuster, so which QB? Yawn. How many want to bet this will go the way of the RGIII/Sam Bradford trade deal. Adam Schefter tweeted that Jeff Fisher is finally helping the Titans win. *Rimshot* Resetting the boards for this draft, the Titans now have: 1st round — No. 15 overall 2nd round — No. 33 2nd round — No. 43 (from Rams) 2nd round — No. 45 (from Rams) 3rd round — No. 64 3rd round — No. 76 (from Rams) 5th round — No. 140 6th round — No. 193 (from Falcons) 7th round — No. 222 The Rams now have: 1st round — No. 1 overall (from Titans) 4th round — No. 110 4th round — No. 113 6th round — No. 177 (from Titans) 6th round — No. 190
  5. The night started off good and ended with - a word that I don't think has even been invented yet. I voted for four people tonight versus only two last night. Maybe tonight's performances were better or I just settled for less. I don't remember many names except for the ones that I did not like. That is sad on my part not the performer(s). Shaylah, Hannah, Laith, Nate and Emily were H.A.M.es imho. Well Emily and Nate weren't a mess but just flat out dull. How do you suck all of the blue-eyed soul out of Rich Girl? I can appreciate a subtle performance and rich smooth vocal just as much as the next person. No matter the genre nor the time period. I can listen to Karen Carpenter for hours and just get lost in her voice, but Emily almost had me slipping into a coma. Shaylah and Hannah were screaming and frantically searching for the sharpest note in their repertoire all throughout their performances. Laith's performance I will just chalk up to preferring the original recording I heard as a child. ETA: I prefer bitchy backhanded compliments/shade Christina than fake forced nice with the backhanded compliments/shade Christina. I'm just being honest.
  6. I wanted this quote to have its own spotlight. I wish I could give it/you all the internet cookies in the world, or whatever it is people award for such awesomeness these days lol. Thank you for making my day.
  7. IMO this was one of the worst first live show I have seen in quite a while. I'm pretty much going in with no actual favorite because I haven't been able to stay interested long enough to actually watch a full episode. From what I have been able to see up until now, is that this season it is being telegraphed from outer space that Christina will win and be the first female coach to win The Voice come hell or high water. I don't think I may be able to make it through the rest of the season; pending the performances tomorrow night. If I never hear Natural Woman again it will be too soon. I used to love that song. Until it started being screamed at me starting with K Clarkson (who is one of my fave Idol contestants) to whoever performed it tonight. I don't remember who the last performer was tonight, but she needs to step completely away from the Janis Joplin songbook forever. Blech! If you don't have the natural grit in your voice, then leave her songs alone. Period! I'm having Cassidy Pope(sp) flashbacks with her. So I'm assuming she already has this season won which is already a turn off for me. Fingers crossed there will be better performances tomorrow night, or this will be the first time I will be checking out completely from The Voice.
  8. If anyone had the stage mom from hell like she did, they would look as haggard as she did then.

  10. As well as Hank Hill. : )
  11. Las Vegas Raiders? City and team want you to believe in it First the NFL doesn't want a team in Vegas because it doesn't want to legalize gambling and now its good PR?
  12. A million likes to this. Rumors have been around for several years about JLO's diva behavior. Only difference is is that she hides it better on this show than Mimi or Xtina. I fell asleep thirty minutes in and woke up fifteen minutes before it ended. I remember when this used to be appointment tv. Now it's vocal Sominex. Now I have to go back and rewatch this on Demand dammit.
  13. I am having a very hard time getting invested in this season. I truly believe that since this is the final season, that is the only reason why I'm sticking around. The show has gone from subtle hints to outright in your face that they are looking for a female winner. I don't care if a female or male wins. I only care about the entertainment factor of the show; which currently seems to be lacking so far imo. I agree with the op regarding the lack of singing being shown on a singing show competition. I'm just hoping that this season is not going to be the sequel to season twelve.

  16. Listening to Mike & Mike yesterday morning, I learned that the First family receives a monthly bill for food, clothing, etc. I admit I never gave it any thought until that point and just assumed everything they acquired while in office was covered by the taxpayers or some expense account that was set up for the First family.
  17. I just about fell off the couch laughing when the camera panned to the two brothers playing that Magic game, because at that exact time my son and some of his friends were in our kitchen playing the exact game lol. Glad to see Adam Lasher back as well. One more audition show and I get to guess who will be the top 24/20 (whatever number this season will start with) contestant that I keep hoping will go home, but will somehow survive one abysmal performance after another.
  18. Ah, the good ole days. The days before 'It was a catch/It's not a catch'. : )
  19. Okay I take back what I said lol. I'm officially back in love with football and that baaaaddd man Larry Fitzgerald. Bruce went old school on them!
  20. Ok I officially hate football now. I actually like both teams, but wanted the Cards to advance and don't particularly want to hear Steven A's mouth about that baaaaadddd man.
  21. I'm not sure if this has ever happened on tv, but several times I have had someone call my number and upon answering the caller asks "Who is this?". You called my number. Shouldn't you be asking for who you wish to speak with?

  23. NFL vote means Raiders could be playing in Texas as soon as next season So if San Diego shares a stadium with the Rams and the Raiders are forced to move to Texas, will the League have to change the conferences around so that San Diego or the Rams don't end up having more home games than the rest of the teams in the League? This is just one confusing mess due to Silent Stan only concerned about money and not having a winning product so that fans would be willing to fill seats. Looks like he did a Major League and got his way. Pffft
