  1. I agree with your entire post! This is the background we keep forgetting. In the family structure, Dean's job was to protect Sam, which made sense when they were younger. Now that they're both adults, where does that leave Sam? What's his job? In fact in the finale of s. 2 Sam basically asks Dean that question: SAM You shouldn't've done that. How could you do that? DEAN Don't get mad at me. Don't you do that. I had to. I had to look out for you. That's my job. SAM And what do you think my job is? DEAN What? SAM You've saved my life over and over. I mean, you sacrifice everything for me. Don't you think I'd do the same for you? You're my big brother. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you. And I don't care what it takes, I'm gonna get you out of this. Guess I gotta save your ass for a change. Sam has no options here, what's he supposed to do? He feels useless! It just adds to his guilt, despair and self-loathing. I was looking for Dean's reaction to the demon deal John made to save his life but can't find it right now. As I remember, Dean was conflicted & pissed that John had done it, so he knew how Sam felt at this point.
  2. Wow! I have to admit that I was dreading this finale, but it all worked. And best of all, Lucifer is finally fucking DEAD, scorched wings and all! Lots of good Jack & Lucifer stuff- Jack saw the true Lucifer through his own eyes and still survived. Yay! Jack making Lucifer tell the truth was very cool. Jack forcing Lucifer to bring Maggie back to life was great. Jack mostly destroyed Michael and probably would have finished him off if not for Lucifer. Cool! Jack finally hit his stride and was the hero of the first ¾ of the episode. Alex does a great job! Dean fans got their super-Dean-Michael and it actually made sense. Dean got the super kill. Yay, Lucifer is gone!! Sam got a couple assists with Jack & Dean-Michael. Good enough for me. Cas, Mary & Bobby survived, surprisingly enough. Cool! I loved it!
  3. I think Jack is the best new character in quite a while. Alex really lights up every scene he’s in. I hope they use him a lot next season. I thought Beat the Devil was a really good episode, the tunnel scene especially, tense ? and scary. From the point when they went through the rift, the episode flew by. Not sure what to think about Sam’s dream. It was qualitatively different than his visions but they haven’t shown any plain old dreams before, so it has some meaning even if it’s not predictive of a future happy ending. That’s too much to ask for Sam I guess. I’ve had complaints about Lucifer but when he’s evil he’s very evil and very good. Loved the bells (at least that’s what they sounded like to me) when Sam entered the camp. Sam f’ing Winchester has arrived!
  4. Jared has a kinda cameo The Disaster Artist. I watched on a plane flight yesterday, so I had a hard time hearing all of the dialog. Greg (Dave Franco) & his girlfriend watch the pilot of Gilmore Girls on TV: “I auditioned for that. I’m better looking than that guy, don’t you think?”
  5. Seriously! Why would he do that?
  6. No. Most recently, Jared got pummeled for days for a joke shared with Jensen, and before that for complaining about an airline. Misha is often criticized for encouraging Destiel. They all get vilified, just by different factions of the SPN "family".
  7. Also, they are 2 stars at pretty much the same level, as opposed to e.g. Juliana Margulies, the only star, as an exec producer of The Good Wife. Do you think it makes any difference that J2 are on CW instead of one of the big 3 networks?
  8. @Diane Oh lord, it is a horrible week! I'm glad your brother will be okay. Sending good thoughts!
  9. Seriously!! She has a lot going on, and judging from what she has so far, probably a lot in the works. I can't imagine that that fantastic agent would allow her to sign a contract for 23 episodes with a CW show.
  10. Jared was in his early 20s when SPN started, so it's very possible he grew another inch.
  11. I don't, but only because I'm in the Central time zone and am usually racing to get home from work before 7pm!
  12. Compared with every thing else that was wrong with the episode, there's one detail B-L got wrong that really irritates me. I guess it's supposed to be humorous - Lucifer reads the hotel room Bible and comments on all the things it got wrong. Cute. Except that Lucifer shouldn't have been able to hold onto the Bible. In ep. 12.08 Cass has the pregnant Kelly Kline put her hand on the Bible and it burns. If being pregnant with Lucifer's child is enough to burn it, then surely Lucifer himself would cause the Bible to go up in flames! Best thing is that B-L also wrote that episode! People have speculated that B-L don't bother to read other writers' episodes. Apparently they can't even remember their own episodes!
  13. At first, everything about her - the accent, the hair, the wardrobe, the acting - seemed way over-the-top to me. I like her much more now that she's toned it down substantially, and I'd be even happier if she'd soften the accent to make it more true to life. It seems the TV industry thinks us dumb 'Muricans love exaggerated accents.
  14. If I remember right, she had her back to the Winchester’s and looked surprised and upset. Yeah, they hated each other but had been family for hundreds of years. Think of people who had horrible relationships with their mother or father yet his/her death knocks them for a loop. Doesn’t mean Rowena is a nice person all of a sudden.
  15. For one thing, Dean has called Sam a bitch and picked fights a lot (no, I don't know exactly how many times), while Sam's Purge speech happened ONCE. Sam is capable of being mean to Dean, but he often just takes it from Dean and doesn't fight back. That makes the times he does fight back memorable.
  16. The top one is crochet, but I don't know why she left the ends sticking out. When you change colors in crochet, the first color is tied off with a slip knot (like what you do with the last stitch when you bind off knitting) then the new color is started through a loop of the old color so they stay connected. She makes so many changes in color to reproduce the photograph that she may not want to carry several colors across the back so she ties each color off and cuts the yarn? For me, that would be way too many ends to weave in! Needlepoint would probably be easier, but I don't know if you can get an open weave canvas that big, so the scale would be much smaller.
  17. This woman crochets blanket versions of photographs! This is the biggest I've seen. but she's done them for most of the cast. Basically, each single crochet stitch is a pixel of a photo. More of her work: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/rachelknits2
  18. Reserved seats are $40. It looks like Orchestra seats are sold out, but Parterre & Mezzanine are still available. Or you can pay $240 for row C or D to Supernatural, Big Bang Theory, and Riverdale :P
  19. Is anyone planning to go to the Supernatural Paleyfest on 3-20? If I can find a relatively cheap airfare, I'm so tempted. But then a voice in my head says ,"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND? YOU'RE TOO OLD TO DO STUFF LIKE THIS!"
  20. That’s what I discovered when I tried getting rid of cable, so I have “basic” cable, which is the local broadcast stations plus Cspan I think (and it’s still expensive). I’m getting ready to go back, because I really miss CNN & MSNBC & TNT. You can’t watch news live online anymore unless you have a cable subscription. I checked out AT&T for internet, but my bldg isn’t wired for it and I’ve heard from several people in this area that their service is poor. I hate Comcast!!!!
  21. Somewhere on tumblr - and it may have come from the spn-gossip board originally, which is really wacko! Sorry, didn't intend to be inflammatory. At any rate, I still think Jared is using the "retiring from acting" gambit as a bargaining tool.
  22. So, it occurs to me - Jared's very savvy and would not want TPTB to know everything about him. (Especially with the speculation that Singer keeps Misha just in case Jared has another breakdown.) Jared's public statements could be considered part of his contract negotiations. As in, if they want him to stay for another season, it will be on his terms, e.g. fewer episodes or mini-series or whatever. Just speculation......
  23. Also, The Magicians is R-rated so you get sex and lots of "fucks". I second the recommendation of Justified. I loved that show, and maybe ready to start a rewatch..........
