  1. However....you could look at the first episode as foreshadowing it. I don't remember the exact quote but it was something like Gary saying to his doctor "so tell me doc, is my cancer back?" Admittedly that's a normal question from anyone who's had cancer in the past but they chose to include it as part of introducing Gary. Hope I'm wrong about this.
  2. I've been thinking about Gary's over-the-top outburst in this episode. I didn't hate it as much as everyone else but I can't say I enjoyed it either. My thinking here is that they had him do that to show just how distraught he was -- even had him point out he was "screaming at people" in case we hadn't noticed -- and make him vulnerable to Ashley. They needed a reason to have one of the characters find out what Ashley knows and I'm guessing they chose Gary since he is supposed to be a ladies' man and it would make sense for him.
  3. I started watching for the same reason and I'm not quite certain why I'm continuing to watch it. James Roday was born to play Shawn Spencer, such great casting for that role (and Dule Hill's as well). I am now worried that after this series shows will not consider him for anything other than a Shawn Spencer type and those are few and far between.
  4. Ok, so now we know about the brother Maggie couldn't save ....because she went to the movies. And she wants to spare her parents the pain of having to pack up her stuff, but apparently not the pain of losing a second child. Do her parents even now that the cancer has returned? And maybe I missed it, but why isn't she getting treatment? As for Gary, I think he wants her to get treatment because Jon wanted him to get treatment and Jon stood by him throughout his ordeal. When Maggie confronts Gary about sleeping with Ashley I truly hope he says "we were on a break".
  5. Why did Grace need a tombstone? I could see a monument or memorial plaque for someone who died in a mysterious way but to me tombstone implies a dead body and in this case she didn't have one. Meanwhile how much did the tombstone she purchased for Ben cost?
  6. Count me as one who disliked Jackie in the mall. Didn't much care for her in church either. If you want to enjoy Laurie Metcalf in church, coming to you from Gomorrah California, watch the Big Bang Theory, "The Rhinitis Revelation". I really want a big pretzel!
  7. The laugh track was terribly distracting. Was it this bad in other episodes and I just didn't notice? Nice touch with Mr. Peterson in a support group (from Bob Newhart, many many years ago).
  8. Yes....looks like that to me as well.
  9. I've had a nagging suspicion for a while now that Gary will help Maggie get through her cancer --- we all know she'll get treatment --- and after she is pronounced cured, cancer free, and good as new Gary's cancer will come back and have spread to multiple organs rendering it unable to be treated. I truly hope this is wrong but I haven't been able to get rid of the thought for weeks now. I don't think the show can afford to get rid of James Roday....otherwise I'd be certain he was a goner.
  10. I don't even want to think about a fictional character drinking while pregnant.
  11. Agreed, also I don't think ABC / Disney is willing to go there.
  12. I would think having the other woman (presumably) save her son's life would soften the blow.
  13. Perhaps Ashley just doesn't like Delilah.....can't say that I feel any differently myself.
  14. Too many characters (and I'm note even including the children): Jon -- committed suicide -- I'd like to know what led to him taking his life, he seems like one of the more interesting characters Rome -- almost committed suicide Gary -- cancer in remission Eddie -- adulterer Delilah -- adulterer Regina Maggie -- cancer not in remission or recurrent after initial remission Katherine -- cheated on by spouse Ashley --no info yet, but her behavior seems suspect Interesting to me that I didn't know what to put for Regina. This is a dark show, with two suicidal, two cancerous and two adulterers out of nine with the jury out on Ashley and not enough info for Regina. They need to convince me why I should watch and so far it isn't all that compelling. As I said in one thread I would watch for James Roday but that will only take me so far. I agree with the people above who suggested narrowing the focus. By delving deeper into individual characters perhaps it would be of greater interest and I could care a bit more.
  15. So what if it's Bev? She could say she wanted to make up for the daughter she lost and she used hormones and a donor/sperm bank.
  16. Gets worse in high rise buildings where frequently there isn't an official 13th floor.
  17. Actually I've changed my mind. Name the baby boy Sheldon.
  18. So what would they name the baby? I'm willing to wager it will be a boy, but they already have one Mark, two wouldn't work. In many families when someone dies the next child will be named after the deceased. If this were real life I think they would name the baby girl Roseanne. Here, I don't see it which is why I think they'll play it safe and have it be a boy. Personally I think they should name the boy Leonard if it's David's child.

Is that what she said? Makes more sense than what I thought I heard.

    Chopped 2018

I was rooting against the guy who won. Arrogance is part of the game but he was more than I could take and was so very pleased with himself. Chef Uncooked Freshwaterfish won't be making that mistake again. Her appetizer did look delicious however I did not agree with her argument that she should advance to another round and she was the correct choice for elimination in round 1.
  21. Also back on TVLAND for Saturday marathon, at least for today and next week.
  22. I tuned in because I love James Roday and want anything he's in to be a hit. Watched the whole thing (that's progress for me since I didn't make it through the "This i s Us" pilot and I have similar feelings for Milo Ventimiglia). Regarding the Gary character, it's going to take a bit of work for me to see Gary and not Shawn Spencer. When the group was in Jon's office ostensibly looking for tickets and somberly taking the whole scene in I was visualizing him putting his hand to his forehead and saying "wait, I'm sensing something". The show itself...not sure but I'll watch at least one more episode before deciding to watch the series. The character who interested me most was Rome and I believe his story will be the most compelling. Waiting till next week.....
