  1. Dramatic example of Chuck Lorre philosophy. Two weeks in a row both Mandy and Georgie’s mothers are typical self-centered women who act in their own interests. And how do the fathers act? Peacekeepers, cooperating with each other as pleasantly as can be.
  2. Maybe snoring and farting are real life but they are not hilarious. The sound of snoring is hateful, not funny. That's Chuck Lorre right there....for him body functions are hilarious. Your mileage may vary, of course.
  3. The rat story was stupid and should never have made it into the script. A complete waste from my perspective. The chickens were fine but the Golden Girls did something similar years ago. That leaves me with Beverly and I enjoyed that part of the show today. I thought it was a very nice goodbye to Estelle Parsons assuming that that’s really what it was. I don’t know if they have plans to bring her back yet again, but I felt they were saying goodbye to her, and she was saying goodbye to Jackie and the show. If they have the character die I assume it will be off screen.
  4. I don't find vomiting particularly amusing but apparently Chuck Lorre does. This is at least the second time in YS they have featured it and not only did we have to endure Mary but oh so much funnier to add Sheldon in as well. So much wasted time in this very short season. No words for Pastor Jeff. Never liked him, still don't. Add hypocrite to the list of adjectives that describe him. I think George could have cooked for his family and taken charge. It was nice to see Missy do it but it was his place. I would have expected Meemaw to take over but she had her own serious problems. But....if anyone is continuing to read while I rant....I finally enjoyed Dale, thought Mandy and Georgie were ok (but they could have helped as well), Sheldon was his usual self and the less we see and hear of Mary the better. But now I know I don't like sober Mary and I don't like drunk Mary either. Interestingly to me I loved Laurie Metcalf's Mary. I don't know if it is the writing or the actress. I really don't want to see Zoe Perry in the spinoff.
  5. I think Elsie is an act and I find her difficult to watch. She is a good enough baker I think, and does not need to give a performance every time they speak to her. Anaiah was my favorite.
  6. A few comments before tonight's performances: All in all a pleasant evening, I enjoyed most of the singing. Having said that, the judges were worse than ever. It was as though they thought "I know these are the things that annoy viewers about me so here comes some more". Luke wore one of the ugliest Hawaiian shirts I have ever seen. Katy, center of the attention always, looked very nice in the eye catching yellow. Ryan's casual green looked good and it's a tough color to pull off. Lionel looked cool but when doesn't he? Back to Luke for the moment....is he sick this year? He has looked "off" and out of it to me any number of times. Maybe he doesn't want to do the show any more. I agree that bringing Matt's wife on stage was awful. Shame on Idol for that. Nailyah -- I have hated that song for decades so I muted it. That said I think she'll go far here, she dresses beautifully and makes herself look as good as possible. And then there's Lucy. Probably not fair of me but it wouldn't hurt to put a little effort into how she presents herself. Allen Stone -- never heard of him. With the exception of the hat he was an excellent mentor
  7. Oh my, a Friends reference. I found this to be a hilarious coincidence. Me as well. You have excellent taste. I did not appreciate their having Iam singing the last few moments when he deserved to be celebrating with everyone else. They put him on the spot and they have singled him out repeatedly.....and yes, he is a star already....but I fear it will backfire in one of those surprise eliminations too early in the season. I know they are going to Hawaii next and he is a representative but giving him an IZ song so closely associated with the islands and a great artist in his own right, too much. Also, perhaps he wanted to sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow during the show. I know I'm ranting but this is the first contestant in years that I have really liked. As it stands I don't see him winning, wrong style and wrong look, but I hope he reaps the benefits of being on the show for the rest of his life.
  8. My cable provides two Hallmark channels during the year. The Movies and Mysteries channel shows Monk in the afternoon. Beginning January 2nd Psych will air at 3:00 and 4:00 PM. I don't know how long this will continue. They are starting with the pilot and Spelling Bee episodes.
  9. Was it wrong to hope his father wasn't watching? Worst performance by a celebrity on Jeopardy.....ever.
  10. This may have been the worst episode ever. Nothing good here at all and I regret watching. I admit Sheldon was obnoxious but I don't see taping someone to a wall the least bit justifiable or humorous.
  11. So am I the only one who didn't like this episode? In actuality I suppose I was ambivalent. I did enjoy Georgie's attempts to help Mandy, the neighbor with the shotgun, and Missy and George reacting to Sheldon's request for help with his homework. I hated Mary's attempts to write a romance novel. To me it was not humorous at all and I didn't like the "woohoo George is gonna get some" reaction when George Sr gets to have sex with his wife because suddenly she's in the mood. What about his mood and desires? They paint him as almost useless in the marriage. She runs everything. He's there if and when she needs him. The Sheldocracy? Nothing new with that. Was I the only one thinking "shotgun wedding".
  12. I came here to post the same thing. I can't stand her personality.
  13. Thank you....I was wondering the same thing. I liked Nadia very much in her season and was shocked when she was eliminated. No surprise when Carrie won, and for the record I was voting for Bo, but Nadia should have placed higher. And tying back to last night's episode, would we have seen Za's audition she didn't have a former Idol as a parent? She was good, she wasn't great and I would not have paid her any notice without the fanfare.
  14. This season just didn't measure up for me and the finale served to underscore the overall weakness of the contestants. I am hoping that they don't repeat a season with such young children. For their ages they were remarkable and I hope they all achieve great success with whatever they attempt in the future. I'm thinking now that I would enjoy seeing another season with the same bakers (minus the rude one) 3-4 years down the road. I believe the skill level would be off the charts then. Regarding the winning cake....it really must have tasted good. No way it looked like a cake that should win a championship.
  15. “Your cake is moist and tender”. Should be a drinking game for this show. Lucia lasted longer than I thought she would.
  16. Aw, Santiago named his dog "Duffy". He may not have been the best baker of the bunch but he was charming and I liked him very much. Like everyone else commenting I like the remaining contestants. Ellora clearly won this week and I am so happy for her. The salmon and asparagus looked amazingly real. Kudos also for Summer's mac and cheese. Baked beans looked great. Chicken leg looked awful and totally unappetizing.
  17. Cher is not the first name that comes to mind when you think of Betty White but her participation was acceptable. I'm not sure who would have been better if they wanted someone to sing. The problem as I see it is that the people most closely associated with Betty White have all passed on. Carol Burnett should have been included, of course. But we needed the cast of Mary Tyler Moore and the Golden Girls, instead we got Hot in Cleveland, the show that Betty saved just by her presence. I don't begrudge anyone making an appearance praising Betty White but some people make more sense than others.
  18. I didn't like Missy cutting herself so badly and I complained to CBS about it. There are enough stories and ideas without heading into having a young girl hurt herself. I didn't like the vomiting either, Not funny in the slightest.
  19. As soon as I saw it was a team challenge I knew Ben would wind up on the losing team. They'd already gotten as much as possible out of him, any more would have been terribly unfair to the remaining contestants and cruel to the viewers. Now we can enjoy the rest of the season.
  20. Where do I start? Frankly I think that knowing they have been renewed they aren't making much of an effort. They've made Meemaw downright unlikeable. They've added way too much Reba (and as an aside, which character has fewer lines now that Reba is getting so many? I'm ok with it being Mary, but not Missy). It wasn't cute that Sheldon failed to understand what was going on in "his" room. This is a show about a child genius growing up and sex is part of that but let Missy, Georgie and Meemaw handle that aspect of life and he can catch up much later. I'm beginning to love George Sr and I didn't expect that. Kudos to Lance Barber.
  21. I find them adorable when they say "When I was little....."
  22. You have to wonder what they didn't show us with Ben. My concern for him -- I'm trying to remind myself that he is only eight years old -- is that this performance will affect how other kids treat him once the final show airs. I'm sure he got a lot of attention at school for his participation in the show, what happens when everyone sees how he acted? I'm sure they won't be surprised but now he's brought his act to the national stage. For his sake I hope he does not see the comments we are making but I hope his parents do. They need a wake-up call. And in case anyone thinks I'm criticizing the commentary here, hell no, he is completely obnoxious and deserves it. So obnoxious that maybe there's redemption arc coming and that's why they are showing us this?
