It's a shame that they didn't continue the series as a books were released, since the later books were centered around the children (Geoffrey Charles, Jeremy Poldark, Valentine Warleggan, etc.) Anyhow, I could never see what any of the men (Ross, Francis, George) saw in Elizabeth.

Yesterday we got the repeat of Donald Reed, nominee for Scumbag Father of the Year. His children crash their ATV into a neighbor's garage door. ScumDad tells them to run, other neighbors watch. Later, a truck rolls in front of his house and some people take the ATV away.

Dining With The Chef - General Discussion

I've seen fresh umeboshi plums at an Asian market once. There is a Japanese plum wine. I haven't tasted it but it might substitute well. -
I have a question for all PBS viewers. If you were able to choose what programs to watch during Pledge Week(s), what would you choose? A. Suze Orman, Wayne Dyer, Dr. Amen, etc. B. Anything but Suze Orman, Waybne Dyer, Dr. Amen, etc. C. Cooking or DIY show marathon D. Classic Masterpiece Theater/Mystery! series or something like it marathon (ex. "I, Claudius", the Jeremy Brett "Sherlock" series, "Brideshead Revisted") E. The regular scheduled programs with reminders to donate. F. I don't watch PBS during Pledge Week(s)

I didn't know either until I was googling around and found it. I read most of the Poldark books too. I'll have to get them on interlibrary loan now because my local branch doesn't have them anymore.

Omigod, you noticed it too! It looked like he was wearing a pre-teen girl's cardigan. I use a spoon too. Much safer than holding a big knife and paring it. Next week will be California rolls. The sides look interesting. -
Retro TV Channels: ”The Good Old Days of Television”

I'll watch "CHiPs"---just to see if my 30+ years of life has changed my opinion about it. I've learned from re-watching these shows that I disliked the later seasons of "Happy Days" now as I did then. BTW, Mr. Milz and I noticed that MeTV's showing the colorized season 1 of Gilligan's Island. Previously, they showed the black and white version (or something's gone horribly wrong with our tvs.) -

I don't like the Caroline-Kate pairing because I think Kate can do better than Caroline and I think Caroline is using her. -

I was in grade school when CHiPs aired. I remember a lot of girls in my class like Ponch. I didn't. I thought he was too cocky. -

I'm pretty sure, whatshisname.....the blonde guy.....is really happy about that that CHiPs commercial.... -
Yeah, they had great chemistry. I can't figure out if Jill Townsend had no chemistry at all (saw her on an episode of Family Affair and she had that same cold, Elizabeth vibe) or she was just really good portraying Elizabeth. (I've read the books and I still don't know why Ross or Francis were attracted to Elizabeth. I get that Warleggan wanted her $$$$$$$$$$, but Francis and Ross......nope, don't get it.) As an aside it looks like Robin Ellis has a part in the new Poldark series.

This is for the 1970s series starring Robin Ellis and Angharad Rees. Not the new series scheduled to air on Masterpiece in 2015 (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/programs/features/news/poldark-returns-masterpiece/) Here's the link to Alastair Cooke's intro: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/archive/37/37.html

lol. lol. RE: PBS and EastEnders. When WETA in DC began showing EE in the 80s, they caught up (!) and were a month or two behind the BBC. That lasted until EE increased the number of weekly shows from twice a week. And WETA has been falling further and further and further behind. I lived briefly in the NYC area in the mid 90s and the PBS station there was ahead of WETA by 2 or 3 weeks. I don't understand why WETA doesn't try to catch up again because it has a "UK" channel and they could run episodes of EastEnders instead of re-running "My Family" or "Monarch of the Glen" (which they've re-run since they began the UK channel).

I figured out Robin Williams died because MeTV showed the Happy Days when Mork first appeared. :-( The kids were watching it and asking why Ritchie was back on the show. -
It's a shame that series is no more because they had plans to travel to ALL of the National Parks in the US. Most of the parks they've done are West Coast, and they did a handful of parks on the East Coast. SeriousPurrs, we don't have cable. But maybe the episodes will be on a website?

If could be done with another actor if they moved the timeline ahead 10 or 15 years. Everyone would need to age that amount as well and some characters might have to be killed off. RE: Promo Photo I have a great explanation for that one: DA and Dr. Who are in the same tv universe. The doctor has to save 2014 Earth, but needs to go to the 1920s for something. They retrieve it from the Abbey, but---oh no!----the new companion he's breaking in accidentally leaves a water bottle behind!

Cobb, they do show infomercials, but they have "original programming" like Motion (a travel show), Knock It Off (DIY interior decorating on a budget) and My Family Recipe Rocks. I don't know how to describe Sweet Retreats. It sounds really lame on paper because vacationers are shown 3 properties to rent while on vacation. But I think it's a good show because it gives me decorating ideas for my home, lol. Actionmage, Motion is great. They go to different National Parks and a couple of international places and hike/camp. It's not intimidating either because they hike trails and they don't use any fancy equipment. So it makes it look like anyone can do it. After the shows, the kids are always begging us to bring them to one of the local parks to walk the trails. The other plus (in my opinion) is the host, Greg, is easy on the eyes ;-) But he's also down to earth. They have the episodes on the LiveWell network website. I hope they offer it to PBS.

I'm heartbroken. I learned that the Live Well Network will be no more mid January 2015. My favorite show was Motion. Motion is probably the best travel show on tv because it's stuff anyone can do without a huge vacation budget. Joey Fatone's My Family Recipe Rocks grew on me, so did Sweet Retreats and Knock It Off.

In the DC Metro area, stuff is going to hit the fan pretty soon: Sharon's gone to Spain to look for Den to bring back so he can attend the wedding. Ian. What more can you say?

Not a favorite of mine, but here's the link to the Danny Thomas Show/Make Room for Daddy where Danny gets pulled over by Andy -
IIRC, when they were walking down the aisle the guy in the stripes was shaking his head, and the guy in the dark shirt said something like "they weren't in there!".

I always liked the concept of Juanita. She's somewhere in Mayberry, but we never see her. Doesn't she work at the diner? Anyhow, the Mount Pilot girls, Skippy and Daphne were hilarious. I loved Daphne's "Hello, Doll" and how utterly uncomfortable Andy looked. I remember someone telling me that Laverne and Shirley were based on them when they first appeared on "Happy Days"----don't know how true that is..
