  1. Okay, what about "Havah" or "Wotta" or "Itza"?
  2. Because Dumbara is the stereotypic stupid girlfriend who does stupid stuff to save hero boyfriend and ends up needing to be saved herself.
  3. I agree with you. Something tells me we can expect Dumbara to do even dumber things. For example, Jim tells her don't open that ticking package and Dumbara will immediately try to open it to prove to Jim how much she loves him and will sacrifice her life to save his blah blah blah......
  4. The kid should be lucky to be called Toby. Some more creative parents would choose something like "Tuwalla" .
  5. I, too, heard stories of immigrants "Americanizing" or "Anglicizing" their names (given and surnames). But again, I've also heard stories of their names being Americanized/Anglicized or shortened for them too.
  6. It makes me wonder if Alfie was supposed to be Nigel Bates for the new Millenium because Nigel was a decent, colorful shirt wearing bloke who almost everyone on the Square liked, but after they got Alfie and Kat together, they had to change him into Mr. Irresistible?
  7. I work in a doctor's office, and, unfortunately, I see this all the time. Girlfriends who 1. make doctor's appointments for Loser, 2. fills out the paperwork for him while Loser sits there texting, 3. goes into the exam room with Loser and tells the doctor why Loser is there, or 4. brings Loser's children to the doctor, taking over parent responsibilities for Loser's children.
  8. This along with the showdown at the Police headquarters reminds me of "Get Smart" with all the hair-brained stuff KAOS does like the episode where the Claw's Asian henchman kidnaps a bunch of blonde women because "All American's look alike" to him or where KAOS plants a bomb in Hymie the Robot and every CONTROL agent runs out of the building except Max and Chief. There's camp in Gotham, but the juxtaposition between camp and darkness is odd.
  9. Thanks for that. Well, I guess my friend's family history is incorrect (or incorrectly remembered.)
  10. I found the omission of DNA results odd too. Maybe DNA was done but disclosed off-screen???? Anyhow, I found it interesting when Gates told Carole King that the stories that clerks at Ellis Island changed family names was a myth because a childhood friend of mine's name was shortened by the clerks at Ellis Island. Her relatives across the Atlantic have the full version of the name.
  11. She wasn't thinking. I've given up on Dumbara: she's become the stereotypical annoying girlfriend. The less she's on the screen the better, imo.
  12. He was respectful to JJ. (probably was told to cool it because the plaintiff had no case).
  13. They were reprinting the series a few years ago, but I don't know how far along they got in the reprints. Anyhow, it's been a while since I read them so I'll have to make a few trips to the library. :)
  14. Can anyone answer this question? What the heck is so special about Alfie that Kat and Mo want him?
  15. What appears on youtube is a hit or miss. For example, 2014 Father of the Year runner-up, Harlan the guy with a family in the US and a family in Mexico has a snippet of his case on 'tube. (Harlan allows his US children draw on walls of a rented home, while his Mexico children are allowed to stand on the Mexico side of the fence and watch.)
  16. The Johnny Rotten episode (one of the first JJs I watched): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rMjt8ugi3o
  17. So many...."the because he's a loser" teen bimbette bullies, "Wicked Jamaican ganga weed" defendant and many others. But the litigant of my heart has to be John Lydon (AKA Johnny Rotten formerly of the Sex Pistols) who was sued by a band member. I remember it so clearly because I had just begun to watch JJ......
  18. Is there really a law in Pennsylvania that the person covered with the most blood is considered the victim, not the aggressor?
  19. The relatively little thing was in the second episode where Jim tells her about the disappearing children and Blabbara calls the newspaper/tv. Jim had no obligation to tell Blabbara that. Yet she whined and needied it out of him. As for honesty in a relationship------she's engaged to Jim, whom she's known for presumably more than 2 weeks, and she doesn't tell him about her relationship with Montoya? Yeah, Blabbara scores high on the honesty in relationship category.
  20. That was I in the Hot Mess Forum. :-) Last night's repeat--Buffalo Cellphone Murder---artsy girl suing ex-room mate because he threw her cellphone out of the car. JJ sent her back to the small claims court. Frankly, I think they were faking it. But I could see them on Hot Mess!
  21. If she can't shut up on a relatively little thing, then the chances are slim, imo, that she'll be able to keep quiet on a big thing. I too hope that the writers will do something with Barbara----like kill her off after she's fulfilled her Pre-Crisis destiny (DC Comics 1967-1988)----because at this rate she'll be another whiny, needy, girlfriend.
  22. She's in danger because she's his girlfriend. Okay, I got it. But a girlfriend who knows something and who people know or suspects knows something is more in danger than a girlfriend who's clueless and everyone knows or suspects is clueless. And that's what Jim keeps mum: the less Barbara knows the safer she'll be and the safer he'll be because she won't go blabbing to Montoya or Harvey or whoever. Loose lips sink ships and she's demonstrated she can't keep her trap shut when she picked up the phone and called the press a couple episodes back.
  23. I have a feeling this is why Cobblepot turned to a life of crime. But I'm not digging the "I wanted to be friends, but you didn't and now I'm gonna turn bad" theme they're appearing to do for Penguin and Riddler. Another thing I'm liking less and less with each episode is Barbara: she's becoming the needy, whiny girlfriend who can't understand why Jim can't tell her every. single. thing. that happens during his work day. Ick
  24. When it initially aired, folks here thought it was a set up too. http://forums.previously.tv/topic/4784-all-episodes-talk-all-rise/page-3
