This is what I love about Cookie. Okay, she's got a huge mouth and an attitude to match, but she loves her children and accepts her children. And I think her calling Jamal's BF (sorry, I can't remember his name) "Dora" or being initially indifferent to Rhoda is because she doesn't think anyone is good enough for her sons. If Cookie was in that restaurant and she saw Hakeem do that.....

I found this on the American Bar Association site http://apps.americanbar.org/litigation/committees/childrights/content/articles/winter2012-young-child-incarcerated-parent.html. As long as the court doesn't find the child's life, health or safety is in danger or the parental rights haven't been terminated, the parent has a right to visit with the child. Jamal visited with Cookie---if only as a Lucious' messenger to tell Cookie 'bye'. Andre didn't want to visit and Cookie wanted him to visit only if he wanted to (that's my interpretation of 1 or 2 sentences they exchanged on the topic). Hakeem states Lucious kept him away from Cookie. So if Cookie's stance was " if the boys want to visit me, they can, but I'm not going to force them", why would Hakeem say Lucious kept him away from her? Hakeem was a baby/toddler when Cookie was locked up. He really didn't have a choice in the matter unlike Andre and Jamal who were older and could tell Lucious/Bunkie their feelings about it. I could see an older Hakeem (maybe 5 years and older) refuse to see Cookie out of loyalty to his father or to get his father's approval (which all three of them want: Lucious' approval) According to what I've found the average sentence for Federal drug trafficking is 72.7 months a little over 6 years. Cookie got 5 times that, so maybe there were additional charges.

In the pilot after Hakeem was broomed, he tells Lucious that he was happy he (Lucious) kept him (Hakeem) away from Cookie when he was growing up. So did Cookie also give up her parental rights when she was imprisoned? According to this http://www.reentry.net/ny/help/item.2917-Parental_Rights, Cookie would have had to kill someone for her parental rights to be terminated upon sentencing.

Oh. My. Gawd!

So in the DC metro area, Johnny Allen is at war with Peggy Mitchell. And I'm finding that I don't blame him for trying to save Scarlett, not Ruby.

Am I getting my hopes up too high hoping the defendant's witness is Bortle, the trained chimpanzee?

We're in the minority together. I don't want Cookie to get back together with Lucious, for the same reasons you mentioned. From what we currently know, Lucious is a Loser. BUT I do want Cookie to get a romantic interest, maybe not this season but next season (because Empire is bound to be back next season).

What was very sweet, and pass the Kleenex worthy, was that JJ told him she was going to rule for the plaintiff (the kennel owner), but she wanted to speak to him as human to another human (or something like that). And JJ offered to let her production team try to find a home for Daisy, which they did. I think JJ felt sorry for the Daisy and her owner (probably more sorry for Daisy).

Lucious definitely respects Cookie and he knows without Cookie, his career would be a big ZERO (the flashback make it seem like Cookie had the brains). Which is why I wonder the exact reason(s) for divorcing Cookie. Would it have really damaged his career if he was married to a convicted drug dealer, serving time or would it have given him more of a "bad boy" reputation that appealed to his emerging fan base (as Hakeem's restaurant antics did)?

Daisy the hound wasn't abused. Her owner couldn't keep her due to some family problems, so he put her in a kennel (he could have easily driven her to another state and left her on the side of the road or something even worse.) He was brought to court by the kennel owner because he fell behind on the kennel fees. JJ stepped in because after 9 months, he still couldn't live with Daisy due to the no pets policy at his current residence. So JJ spoke to the owner and his daughter, telling them it wasn't fair to Daisy to be essentially in limbo for 9 months or more. Daisy, clearly, loved the owners---the way she looked so happy to see them and be petted by them. And I think the owners loved her, but they just couldn't provide a home for her. In the end, someone on JJ's production team agreed to adopt Daisy.

I was hoping the same thing! And Cookie noticed Tiana and Hakeem's eye contact. Can't wait for Cookie to sweep her out. I'm really curious why Lucious divorced Cookie (I don't think it's because she was in jail and that was bad for his career).

I love Cookie. I love everything about her: her clothes, her no-beating-around-the-bush attitude, and her love for her sons. I understand that Hakeem doesn't know her because he was a baby when she was locked up, but I'd like to knock him around for being so disrespectful to her. And when she learns who killed Bunkie------that is one episode I will not miss!

AngelaHunter, I think Romance is a big fan of the Muppet Show, specifically Janice

I heard this on a repeat case: Drunken mom suing drunken daughter for fishing poles and other assorted property left at drunken daughter's home after drunken Mom was thrown out. Drunken daughter countersued for damages caused by drunken mom's sober chihuahuas. Drunken daughter asked drunken mom to move in to watch her children. But threw mom out after discussing mom's flirtatious behavior towards daughter's boyfriend. the discussion took place at a bar. "uncomfortabilize" verb. to make uncomfortable Usage: "She uncomfortabilized me because she was always touching me and coming onto me".

I missed the premiere last week due to tv problems at my house :-( But I saw it last night! Wow! I can't wait for the next episode.

Awww, give Romance a break! It was probably a brand new wig she bought specially for her television debut, hence her constant fondling. That case left me wondering who scored higher on the Stupid Scale, Deandre or the Three Plaintiffs. And tell me, how many people here would meet someone on the street (don't even get me started on that) and instantly become such great friends you'd let him babysit your child, crash at your place and help you around the house? Oh, JJ fans......I missed "The Empire" last week due to tv problems, BUT I saw it last night. It's so similar to the stuff we've watched on JJ.

When Dr. Oz initially moved to the station, nothing could interrupt it. Interrupt JJ, sure, but Oz was untouchable. I didn't understand that either. But the way the bride was giving JJ the stink-eye leads me to believe there was something in their sworn statement that JJ didn't like.

In the halterview, the defendant observed she was on speed. His comment that he doesn't like love songs anymore......I've been watching too many old sitcoms because this Partridge Family song popped into my head

That was so sad. Susan looked so normal (sans the Murphy Brown hairdo), then the more she opened her mouth the more bat shit crazy she appeared to be. Did I hear correctly that she moved in with BF 10 months after his wife died?

Oooo, I can't wait to see this. I've got 2 hours until air time.

Out of curiosity, are settlements like this regarded as "taxable income" by IRS and state government?

The only thing that's a hot mess about Dumbara is the clumsy, poorly executed writing. Hot messes are people who are seemingly intelligent, but consistently get involved with losers (romantically and/or financially). Stupid people getting involved with losers aren't hot messes, just stupid losers. Dumbara falls into the latter, not the former. At this point, Montoya falls more into the "hot mess" category than Dumbara---because she got involved with a loser twice, and if Jim takes Dummy back, he's a hot mess.

Answer: "After all these years watching your show, Judge, we took photos of the kitchen in the event something happened and we had to sue the contractor. I also have the receipts if you'd like to see them." RE: scumbag father stealing money from child IIRC, there was a case several years ago where a father used his son's social security number to either open a bank account or get a credit card and ruined the son's credit.

Retro TV Channels: ”The Good Old Days of Television”
Milz replied to Actionmage's topic in Network Talk
The Honey Bee's performance on Gillian's Island is also sped up whenever MeTV shows it. Ginger, Mary Ann and Mrs. Howell don't sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks, but it's slightly faster than what's on youtube or on the DVD. -
I too was simply mesmerized by the fur coat wearing a blonde wig. She and Queen Esther are definitely nominees in the Judge Judy Fashionista of the Year award. Toaster you get JJ earlier in the day than most of us. So far, my JJ station hasn't interrupted programming for the horrible events in France.
