  1. I was WTFing with those lyrics too!
  2. She said she and Andre have been together for 10 years. Whether that "together" includes dating or not, it wasn't made known.
  3. Wow. That's the kind of nonsense they do in the US whenever a novel is "dramatized": they add imagine up more drama to the point of completely changing things. Although, I sort of like that Jud and Prudy were in Ross's employ longer in the series than in the books. I remember reading somewhere that Richard Morant left because he didn't like the direction the series was taking.
  4. I've been in the DNA test Lola camp since Olivia dropped her off. But if Lucious is Lola's father, why is he letting Olivia take her away, especially when Lucious has this fantasy of remarrying Cookie and the two of them raising Lola? That's why I think Lucious only said that to get Reg's attention. As sad as it is to say, Lucious is going to die from his ALS and a bullet might be faster and less painful. And even sadder to say, Reg had the opportunity to kill Jamal and Hakeem, which would have left Andre as the Heir of Empire. And Lucious thinks Andre is damaged goods due to his bipolar disorder (and that's probably another reason why Lucious doesn't like Rhonda: he thinks she's manipulating/taking advantage of Andre.) If that "third wall" didn't exist, you would have seen my foot kick Lucious in the ass last night for not visiting Andre and not attending that family meeting with his therapist and psychiatrist. There are times as a parent that you have to put your child first and your personal hang-ups second, third or 50th.
  5. Knowing that Andre's first psychotic break was at home, what he told Jamal and Hakeem in the last episode that Lucious can never see him the way he sees them is even MORE heartbreaking. AND Lucious not wanting to see Andre-----I wanted to kick Lucious' butt.
  6. I read the books years after watching the series. And I noticed a number of differences between them, particularly with the Demelza-Ross relationship and marriage. I prefer the book version. Since reading the books, I always wondered why Winston Graham allowed those differences in the series.
  7. Oh Darn! I blinked one too many times and missed Mary J. Blige's guest appearance last night...... I'm in the minority because I don't think any Lyon is Lola's father. I think Lucious said he was Lola's dad in order to deflect Reg's attention off Jamal and off Cookie. It's a shame that Reg didn't kill Olivia and was in turn killed by Malcolm. That way Lola could stay on the show. Anyhow, I liked the side glances Cookie and Lucious were giving each other when Hakeem sang. They were smiling at Hakeem but their glances were like "We need to get rid of this bitch ASAP!". And Lucious having a secret door lock switch built into his desk----hilarious. It's something all the evil bad guys have. Cookie and Malcolm: I am so happy Cookie has moved on. But I don't see this relationship with Malcolm going anywhere.
  8. It's a note in a model airplane kit. Hogan reads it. The model kit was on a file cabinet in Helga's office. I think the model kits were from the Red Cross, but the note indicates Nimrod was present in Stalag 13 because Nimrod says something like Hogan had a clever plan to get the underground agent out and it asks Hogan to get a copy of some plans out too. So Nimrod was at Stalag 13.
  9. Oh that would be funny. If they kept Helga, I would have said she was Nimrod, since she seemed a part of Hogan's operation.
  10. Arrange for someone to call you at 8:30. Take the call and say "Hello? I'm in a meeting right now. I have to call you back" then pause and say really loud " WHAT???? OH NO!!! Okay, Okay, I'm leaving right now. Do not leave the house!!!!". Then tell everyone you have to leave right now. Grab your stuff and go, go, go. ;-)
  11. What's odd in the article I link is that phrase that Poldark served in "Her Majesty's Army": I guess they're so used to QE 2 that they've forgotten the monarch during the Revolution was KG 3 and it was "His Majesty's Army". Then I've confused that with the 70s series because I think the dog was killed. Frankly, I hope this Poldark does well in the ratings because they could dramatize the entire series.
  12. So bummed that I missed the vasectomy case. :-( Well, it's something to look forward to on re-runs.
  13. I think in the books, Demelza had a dog. But it was killed by George Warleggan's cronies after Warleggan married Elizabeth and moved into Trenwith. Heh. I just read this from the Mirror: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2986070/Poldark-viewers-react-anger-stars-attempts-Cornish-accent.html
  14. I ditto the living room furniture. I also want the jar labeled "BREAD" in the kitchen.
  15. I read that there was some clause in the contract that prevented the Scripps Howard owned stations from dropping it in January. So it will be on air until April at the Scripps Howard owned stations. And then it will convert to LAFF, an all comedy station.
  16. I live in the DC Metro area. The Baltimore PBS station (MPT) is airing it, but they are 1 episode ahead of the DC PBS station (WETA). And the DC PBS station airs it on the regular station and on it's WETA UK station. I think MPT put it on hiatus due to Pledge Week. And WETA is pre-empting it this saturday due to Pledge Week (according to the Washington Post tv guide). The government didn't go after Merrick, but Karma sure did!
  17. I loved the defendant's halterview where she directed this comment to her ex-boyfriend/plaintiff's witness. "Stay away from players".
  18. My picks would be either Schultz or Burkhalter, but leaning more to Burkhalter because he had access to high level information Schultz didn't.
  19. Science doesn't support that skin color as the determination of race because science is DNA based. What supports is "three races" idea is the government because it's easier for the US Census bureau to pigeonhole people into one race or ethnicity.
  20. Mainstream society---because the people here appear to understand that skin color isn't a reliable indicator of a person's racial/ethnic composition.
  21. That's true: hispanic is an ethnicity. But it goes to prove, that you simply cannot look at a person and say "That one is black" (in the sense of "black" = "African American"). And perhaps that is based on the simplistic mentality of people who see others wholly as either black or white. President Obama was raised by his mother and her Malaysian husband, and then by his maternal grandparents. In the 60s and 70s when he was growing up, I could see his parents/grandparents and himself saying it's easier for him to say "I'm Black" rather than to explain that he is biracial. I know biracial Asian people who identified themselves as Asian for that reason: it's easier for people (simple minded people) to comprehend. I think Lucious cares about being "legitimate". In the first or second episode, he told Cookie that she can't act like a "hood rat" when conducting business.
  22. Cindy Herron and Halle Berry looked like many of the Puerto Rican and Dominican people I went to school with or worked with. Grace Gealey looks like she's Puerto Rican and could probably be cast in Latina roles.
