I did not call her 'promiscuous'. Maybe she's genuinely 'in love' with Paul. Maybe she just wants out. By 'advertising', I meant she was trying to attract someone to get her to the US; that's all.

Sorry, I wasn't implying you did. She could very well be in love with him or want out or both.

I was trying to say and maybe I said it badly, that wearing a swimsuit or shaking her booty that she may not have been advertising, just being Brazilian.n

I too was a bit surprised she was disappointed that he wanted to hold off on being intimate with her, this same girl who seem all My Little Pony.

Her dad looked pissed, but like he lacked control over the situation. The cameras there didn't help, but I'm guessing that's why he didn't argue about her going to the hotel. He also said that Karine 'knows what she wants', & the way he said it struck me he meant she wants to get to the US. She's not innocent at all, with the way she seemed upset Paul didn't want sex right away. To me it seemed like she was worried he wasn't impressed enough & was changing his mind. Her behavior, to me, falls right in line with the pics & videos showed where she was pretty much advertising herself.

Paul has a pointy chin & that beard pointing down makes me imagine him with little horns on his head.

Brazilian women are proud of their bodies and wearing skimpy clothes and swimwear is no big deal.  It does not make them promiscuous.  Like women everywhere, they come in all shapes and sizes.

The thing is his father  opened his church  right away during Alison, I think, it was well organized  and  used as an example  of how a church  should act.

His dad was a nice guy and still missed by many folks in Houston. When his son first took over the church, Lakewood was still on the east side and was a nice place to attend church and didn't seem as steeped in the prosperity gospel as they are now. He was at least a lot more humble and so was his wife.

JJ Watt is quite a guy.  He started this on Monday and has already raised over $3.5 million.

Yes, he is.  I've never met him, but by all accounts, he's genuinely a nice guy. It doesn't hurt that he's also very easy on the eyes.  I once met a lady who named her English bulldog after him.

Ahh,thank you. I guess he didn't want the unwashed masses dirtying up his hallowed $anctuary.

It's open now as a shelter.  Donations have been flooding since they opened.  Piled 10 feet high and wide around their doors.

Not defending him, but glad they opened so people nearby who didn't flood could get there and drop off / sort donations. There's hundreds of volunteers there.

I was born in 1968, and in my experience we were not even close to being as self absorbed as this selfie generation. Sure, we took a few pictures and polaroids were fun, but not all the time. And I was never one to take pictures of myself. I took pictures of the beach, etc. on vacations, not myself on the beach. I know everyone has a different experience but this was mine. When I moved into the dorms in college, my parents didn't take pictures and I don't remember anyone else's doing so either.

Exactly.  The only way one could take selfies was to use a tripod and and set your timer on your camera to release the shutter...after you marked a spot using a person or other object to focus the camera.

I find with my digital camera that I shoot pictures with impunity.  With my medium format camera, one roll of film gets me 12 shots. I'm much more careful with film. It's costly to print BW even when you have access to a darkroom

  7. I really thought it was tacky how Paul asked her parents upon 5 minutes of meeting them if he could take Karine to his hotel.  After all this talk about being concerned for her honor, it would have looked like prostitution as far as the locals were concerned for a foreigner taking a young girl to his hotel.  She looked really uncomfortable being stuck in the lobby as if hoping not to see anyone who might know her.

Apparenly a 21 year old who likes things 8 year old girls like might seem weird to us, but I imagine people in her neck of the woods have only recently been able to get them and they weren't available when she was much younger. Who doesn't like stuffed animals?

  8.  @Barb23--sorry to hear of your illness, and I hope you get your strength back soon.  If you don't "feel right" after a few days, INSIST that they take any complaint you have seriously.  Pneumonia doesn't always get knocked out first time.

@Rabbittron--thank you for sharing your story about your flood experience. So sorry you had to go through that. The recovery in Houston will be long and hard for many people. There's heartbreak everywhere you look.

Mr E and I are still safe and dry and have power, and we are so thankful. We feel bad since we're both out of work and have been for a long time and don't have much in the way of funds to donate. Because of my illness, I'm unable to volunteer any help due to my immune system being weak. I feel sad for those who have had to lose a week's wages due to their places of employment being closed or they're unable to get to work because of having to evacuate, impassable roads or they have to rely on public transportation, which has been suspended.  Many people can't afford that.

Lots of evacuation orders are going on due to rising rivers and levee breaks.  It seems easier to ask which communities do not have to evacuate vs those who do. The system is almost out of here and is expected to be on its way to Louisiana around 6 pm tonight.

Anyone remember seeing JimBob trying to dance to, I think, rap music?

It was on some talk show, IIR.  Even Michelle looked appalled and embarrassed for him.

It's on Utube and I can't bring it over here.  Just Google Jim Bob Duggars, rap star!

    is this it?

So how did he justify doing this, considering the killjoy lost his shit when one of the howlers danced to some music at a store? Of course, Jana had to take care of it.

And you know, I'm all for being a nonconformist, but Stepdad's hair was just stupid.

Worse than the hair was that nose piercing that looked like a carbuncle. I wouldn't have been able to eat if I'd had to sit at that table. It was gross.

Darcey, learn a lesson from Jesse when he says we Dutch are direct.    Take a pair of those wooden shoes and shove one up Jesse's ass and the other in his step-fathers.  Pack your bags and right before you leave, give ol Jesse a Dutch oven as a parting gift.

I was not expecting that. I was laughing so hysterically that my husband ran up the stairs to ask if I was ok. Glad I wasn't eating or drinking anything or I would have snotted it all over my tablet.  Dutch oven..LOL.

She wouldn't even have to fart, just smother him in a cloud of cheap perfume.

    That was so cringe worthy.

Host: Chantel, you're in nursing what did you think of that scene.

Chantel through clenched teeth: I couldn't imagine having the worry of bringing a baby into the world with a horrible disease-uh.

    Oy vey

That made me cringe as well.  Cancer is a disease; Tourette's is a condition. She's still taking her core classes? But a good many people who aren't in the medical profession are aware of this basic fact.
