There were a couple doors in my school you could get open just by bumping them with your hip. It was a year before the teachers realized it. Just tell yourself the school had shoddy maintenance ;) My theory is that she pissed off someone in wardrobe and now they're making her pay. It's annoying me less and less though. Instead of yelling at the TV now I just sigh heavily and shake my head in disgust. Thank you! I thought it was the same girl but it wasn't showing up on her imdb page. I didn't think she did that great of a job on Leverage (which is understandable since it was her first time acting if I remember right) but I thought she was great in this. She went from traumatized to psychotic really well. I liked these two episodes a lot. I was expecting the haunted house episode to be a retread of something Supernatural had already done since they've already done every ghosty there is to do. But there were a lot of nice twists in this episode. I liked that the villain went from murderers in the house, to a haunted house, to an unseen ghost, to a shadow ghost, to a psychotic girl, to a psychotic ghost-girl and a pissed off wish-granting house. And I liked the subtle way the objects (shoes, Rosemary's pram, etc.) kept appearing and disappearing without the characters noticing or discussing it for as long as they did. Jones was so much more likable this week too. It was a nice balance between cocky and helpful, normal, and even thoughtful. And I liked the scene between him and Stone in the dollhouse. He was annoying enough to piss of Stone but not so annoying that I wanted Stone to punch him. If I was trapped in a wish-granting house I'd probably ask for beer and cookies too.

I'd laugh it if her bringing him back to his human form meant he'd immediately die from the musket wound he should have died from in the first place.

I had zero idea it was back on. I was watching something else on Netflix when I noticed my DVR was recording something but I couldn't figure out what it was (and was too lazy to pause what I was watching to find out). I didn't realize until I saw the recap here that that's what had recorded. I never saw one preview for it.

You beat me to it, ganesh. I just skimmed through the first episode to see if they explained what his purpose is and Jones says himself the only skill he has is stealing. He also had the inventory of the museum memorized (because he once robbed it) and could tell them where the painting Stone mentioned could be located. I agree--on their own they wouldn't be able to get much done. If he had been trying to find the patient (instead of chasing a coin)--and the others knew he had been trying to find her--they probably would have been more inclined to listen. But as far as they knew he was screwing around while they were doing all the work. I wouldn't have listened to him either.

I'm a little late to the discussion because Monday night I decided watching Battlestar Galactica (1978) on Netflix was a better use of my time than watching Sleepy Hollow. I just couldn't bring myself to care. And now that I've watched it...meh. I liked kickass Abbie because, how could you not? I liked Orion purely for the fact that he wholeheartedly wanted to kill Katrina. Dick angel or not, that's the kind of thinking I can get behind. But the CFD...no. I've gotten to the point where I'm hate-watching 90% of the show and grudgingly enjoying the other 10%. I agree. The first thing I did when I saw his wings was laugh out loud and say, "Supernatural did it better." Orion's tiny wings looked silly--like a Halloween costume--whereas Castiel's massive shadow wings looked intimidating even on a dude in a tie and trench coat. That being said, I liked the angel idea and the actor and agree with the others who think his true intentions were revealed too quickly. I would have liked him to hang around appreciating Abbie and trying to kill Katrina for a while longer before he went bad.

Compare & Contrast: The Librarians Vs. Other Shows
cassandle replied to Slovenly Muse's topic in The Librarians [V]
I try really hard not to compare it to Leverage but I can't help it. And I don't think it's purely the Christian Kane aspect because I can separate Angel and Leverage just fine. But I've binge-watched through Leverage soooo many times--with and without the commentary--that I start thinking things like, "Oh, John Rogers totally wrote that line," or "That stuffed bear is the same one Parker had in the Broken Wing Job". I also can't help wishing the effects were as good as Leverage. I know they're two different types of effects since Leverage never had giant wolves running around but I never noticed that explosions on Leverage were done with models or that Parker wasn't really hanging off the side of a skyscraper but on this show it's really obvious and jarring. I thought the effects on Leverage were so good because it was Dean Devlin's company that did them so I don't understand why The Librarians doesn't have the same quality. I never got into Warehouse 13 because the actress bugged me a lot--can't remember why--so fortunately I'm not making those comparisons too. -
Although, Elliot did get pretty excited when Nate gave him a Samurai sword for Christmas :) I'm torn with his character because I really liked seeing Stone fight as the huntsman/robot because CK is a good fighter but at the same time I don't want him to be Elliot. But if he keeps smiling and being friendly and using his non-gravely voice that will hopefully be enough to separate the two characters.

I was confused by that too but I think he made a wish on the coin and the wish stopped the bad guy. Maybe? Me too. I saw the photos of Christian Kane with the owl on his arm a while back but had no idea what they were going to do with it. It was such a random little moment and his expression of, "Yeah, I know" that turned into utter confusion was great. I also laughed a lot at his initial explanation of a traffic flow study purely because I work for a company that does traffic studies and he explained it just about as badly I would have.

I think I liked this episode the most so far. Rebecca Romijn didn't bother me at all, which is rare--maybe because she wasn't (badly) kung-fuing her way through a mess of bad guys this time. The only time I ever got truly annoyed was when EvilCassandra took off her dress to reveal something even worse than her usual ridiculous outfit. Did the actress do something unspeakable to the wardrobe department to deserve their wrath? What the hell was she wearing? I liked that they didn't do the swirling cartoons around Cassandra's head when she was doing math in the street (until they did the swirly cartoons later on). Couldn't care less about the romance between Flynn and Baird. They barely know each other so I don't understand why TPTB are trying to make that a thing. And I'm really interested to see what they do with Jenkins and Dulaque. Finally, I loved evil Christian Kane. I like that he gets to do more on this show than just be growly and mean. That said, I really like it when he's growly and mean so him bitching about the paintings was hilarious--as was his inability to fight off museum guards. I wouldn't be watching this show if it weren't for him but so far I like it enough not to fast-forward to get to his his scenes. Was I the only one who had trouble understanding the dialogue sometimes? I had to rewind every so often to figure out what the actors, Noah Wiley in particular, were saying.

I liked this part, initially, but then it just kept going and going. I get that if they had only shown one or two of the little vignettes it wouldn't have made much sense but all I could think was that they could have used that time to film/air what could have been a fun bar fight scene or the plane crash. Granted, the plane crash they probably couldn't shoot for budget reasons but to set up a bar fight between Kane and Odin and a bunch of angry Canadians (one of whom was wielding a hockey stick) and then not deliver? Major disappointment. I'm not sure what it says about me that I'd rather see a bloody bar fight than someone bestowing good will...

I'm still a wreck--I can't stop watching the footage. I'm one of those nuts who pretty much did anything Stephen told his Nation to do. Buy a WRISTSTRONG bracelet? Okay. Donate to a Super PAC? Sure! Eat Americone Dream, even though I don't particularly like it, just to beat Jimmy Fallon? You bet! Vote for a bridge in Hungary? Why not? Who's going to tell me what to think now? Jon Stewart is still around, sure, and I like Larry Wilmore a lot too but you're right, trow125, it's not the same. I need to console myself by watching the Daft Punk episode that I still have saved on my DVR--that'll make the pain go away, at least for a few minutes. By the way, who was the guy who started dancing with Katie Couric? He looked so familiar but I can't place him....

This show definitely turned me into a fan of the heavier songs in Classic Rock. I've always loved the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and the Kinks but leaned towards more Rock and Roll '50s and '60s stuff. And for years I thought I didn't like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, et al. Turns out I just never listened to them enough to appreciate them. After a few years of binging on SPN my go-to Pandora station is now AC/DC and my "Dean" playlist on my iPod is practically the only thing I listen to in the car (Billy Squire's 'Lonely is the Night' is the most played song of all my thousands and thousands of iTunes songs). It KILLS me to watch the first season on Netflix because of the music being replaced. I know it was some sort of rights issue but why just the first season? It's so jarring to watch 'Hell House' where Blue Öyster Cult is a major plot point and not hear any Blue Öyster Cult songs.

That last episode of Leverage killed me. Especially since John Rogers kept saying the fans were going to hate him for what he wrote--I didn't know what to expect and was guessing through the whole show. I haven't watched any of this last season of White Collar and, judging by the recaps and comments, I'm guessing I can just wipe them right off my DVR and not be any worse for it.
-
This is the only episode of SPN I've never watched. I didn't bother watching it when it aired because I had a feeling there would be a lot I'd want to fast-forward through so it sat on my DVR for many, many months until I had to do a purge. It was the first to get erased without me even trying to watch it first. I'd actually forgotten they tried a spin-off until I started reading this thread. I just couldn't bring myself to care and even now, reading about this particular episode here, I still have no desire to watch it to find out what everyone is talking about. Apparently if it's not about Dean and Sam, I'm not interested--I didn't realize I was that attached to them until just now. Weird :)

Fred didn't bug me until the last season when all of a sudden she was an expert in ghosts, werewolves, supernatural gizmos, and every single science/medical-related thing at Wolfram & Hart. But I liked Amy Acker in Dollhouse so I blame the writing on that. I definitely see the similarities between her and Cassandra, but Cassandra doesn't bother me until she starts spewing out the math babble and I think a lot of that has to do with the cartoons swirling around her head. I don't need to see how she thinks. Spend that special effects money on better monster costumes. Or pants for Cassandra. (You've got Christian Kane in three layers of shirts and a jacket but she's running around in gauzy dresses and tiny skirts? No.) I did, however, appreciate that they refer to her tumor as a brain grape. I like that they're not constantly feeling sorry for her. If we don't get an evil hand/Angel reference I will be seriously disappointed. It bugged me that on an episode of Bones that featured angels and demons they didn't make one single Angel joke. And on the episode of Leverage that had Sam Anderson (a.k.a. Holland Manners) as the bad guy there was zero interaction between him and Kane. Such wasted opportunities.
-
Yes to this. They have the same stunt guy as Leverage and those fights were always great. Most of the time it was Christian Kane's character doing the fighting and it might have been easier to choreograph them since he already knew how to fight. But the Hardison and Parker characters got some good punches in every so often so we know the stunt guy can teach non-fighters well. RR just looks so stiff in every fight. Maybe it's the pantsuits? She just doesn't look comfortable at all and I think that's a big part of the problem. I think the Minotaur would have worked better if they hadn't been in a brightly-lit hallway. If it had been chasing them in the cave-tunnels that might have been better. Or do the Jaws thing and don't let us really see it at all. Or just keep it a man the whole time. If you can't afford the best costumes/effects there are better ways to hide that fact.

I love it so much when Dean calls him on his bullshit for that. I seriously hate John for doing nothing when Dean was dying (the first time). And he pisses me off the second time in that he didn't try any other way to save Dean except make a deal. Before selling your soul wouldn't you try a little magic first? Just for the hell of it? Maybe try anything else before you condemn your soul to hell and put that kind of burden on your poor kid? If the roles had been reversed and Sam got possessed by YED would John have been able to shoot him? I would lean towards no, when it came down to it, which would make his bitching at Sam even worse and hypocritical. And if he were able to shoot Sam, well, that's a whole lot worse. Either way he pretty much sucks. I'm sure he loved and cared for his sons but more often than not he was just a dick.

I just rewatched the final scene and I'm still not getting a Dean's-a-threat-to-Sam vibe. To me, he looks like Dean's about to cry and that's why I feel he needs a hug. But I've come to the conclusion that the reason (or the main reason) I don't feel like Dean slaughtering a bunch of humans is that big of a deal--or that Sam should be wary of him--is because we didn't see it happen. If we had seen Dean knife his way through a roomful of bad guys in under 20 seconds it might have had more of an impact--for me at least--instead of going from Hulk Eyes to Concerned Looks to Bloody Aftermath. And I'll admit, I love a good fight scene so I feel particularly cheated. The flashbacks helped, but if they want me to think Dean's lost it, let me see him lose it. Unless this is their way of saying Dean's on the verge of losing it and next time he's really gonna lose it and I get my violence and gore--then I can accept it. But right now I just feel sorry for him rather than scared of/for him. Regarding hell--we know that Dean was dead for 3 months which came to 40 years in hell, right? Sam popped out almost instantly but did we ever find out how much hell-time that was? I know it's different than Dean's experience since Sam was in Lucifer's cage and tortured afterwards by the hallucinations but I'd be curious to know how their "time down under" matches up.

Yup, I bet none of his henchmen would happily don a sombrero and go out for shots with him. Ditto. This storyline is a supreme waste of Mark Sheppard. He's too good to be spending all his time sitting and talking. And if he must be sitting around talking, at least have it done in the vicinity of Sam and Dean because then he'd be making fun of them and it would be funny. I don't remember one single thing that happened in his scenes last night. I either tuned them out at the time or instantly forgot them.
-
To be perfectly honest I frequently want to give Dean hugs. And I don't think it's purely because he's my TV boyfriend ;) More often than not he just breaks my heart--due to the writing or acting or whatever--and I always feel way more sympathy for Dean than I do for Sam or any other character. I really liked Season 8 mainly because Dean was so uncharacteristically huggy with everyone. It made me smile. As for the meat suits.... I feel it depends on what the demon has done. Original Meg probably would have been okay once the demon was exorcised (physically at least) if she hadn't been thrown off a building. If they've only been possessed for a couple hours before Dean and Sam show up to take care of them it would be worse than if they'd been possessed for years. I definitely think that's one of the reasons Dean slaughtering a room full of men didn't strike me as too horrific--I've been too desensitized at this point.

I was literally yelling at the TV, "Sam, hug your brother! He's clearly upset--hug him and tell him it'll be okay!" I was ridiculously mad at Sam for not taking care of his brother first and asking questions later.
