  1. It almost seemed as if production not the judges has a hand in the save decision tonight. (Just look at Luke saying something short mentioning Laci to Katy before she announces their “decision.” Just like the old days on Idol. The take from the industry folks who actually sign contracts will be the thing to watch. I suspect Jeremiah will be signed as soon as the optics permit, Jeremiah covered two artists tonight that I had been hoping to see — Barbra Streisand and Joan Baez. You add that with the others, he hasn’t ever been shy about his song choices.
  2. Since that nail clip was in daylight, it couldn’t have been in Ho Chi Minh City. The slight reservation about it being in Laos was because the apparent connecting flights had all the teams took required an afternoon connection which filming spoilers indicated was in Seam Reap. But in any event the time between the departure and the end of the leg total was less than 24 hours total. But it would explain why the encounter with the nail didn’t affect Colin and Christie’s placement this leg. @green, the above is why it couldn’t have been in Vietnam. The teams arrived after dark and completed the leg at night
  3. I’m still trying to figure out when during the leg Colin had his interaction with the 8 inch nail. The scab on his forehead near his scalp line is obvious during the roadblock task, which was at night as was the arrival in Ho Chi Minh City and the detour. It isn’t present when they started the leg in Laos in the daylight. A mystery.
  4. This, I suspect is a first for American Idol. Earlier today, the Towson University Chorale performed and released a video of their cover of Jeremiah’s original song “Almost Heaven.” Jeremiah is taking the year off as a voice performance major from there, but he apparently knew nothing about this. Towson University Chorale cover of “Almost Heaven” (Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon)
  5. I’m somewhat confused by tha date associated with that video as well. I’m not so surprised sure the video was filmed in April 2019 as rge article states as its total inconsistent with the WMAR interviews Jeremiah and his dad did in March and the Out.com article Ian that same time. It may have been a year or more ago, which would be consistent with would be consistent with what Jeremiah said when Hollywood week was filmed that he if I remember his words correctly, didn’t feel comfortable working at his dad’s church where he wasn’t being accepted so he had decided to quit as a janitor and move out. And his sister’s statement clearly supports that there had been a growing process and that’s also consistent with the family having reached the point where they would love each other unconditionally no matter what. I hate to say it, but I think that video was taken out of some missing contex, such as when was it actually recorded and being used incorrectly.
  6. One thing came out in the post episode clips on the official TAR YT account (there quite a bunch this week) is that while Colin and Christie were walking down a block Colin was struck by an 8 inch nail from roofing or construction work on the roof of a five story building on the other side of the street. It did gash his scalp and forehead, but did not require medical attention. The camera crew caught it, and Colin was quite calm and once his head got cleaned up, he and Christie continued wherever they were headed to at that point. I think there was a point where they left in place place and reached the next point in daylight in IIRC, in 5th. Two things. 15 years ago Colin might have reacted more strongly to that, which did not happen, and it shows how efficient they continue to be. Oddly, they both took the time to master both their dancing and Karaoke challenges before attempting them, IIRC, they only took four attempts to complete the detour, and it seems Colin only needed two attempts on the roadblock. Second but for that nail, they might have been first this leg. As it is after three legs they are the only team that never finished those legs below 4th place to check in every other team did so on at least one of the legs. Hopefully I’ll have time to rewatch over the weekend and double check.
  7. Correct. That’s what the Futon Critic’s listings show.
  8. Where’s your source for there being 2 episodes on May 22nd? The most reliable source I known of this far ahead has only 1 episode on the 22nd, 31.05, and one on the 29th, 31.06. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch/amazing-race/listings/
  9. I just hope this is the last of Heidi for the season. I feel sorry for Ty...he’s supposed to be one of the designers, but he’s being used in multiple episodes as the sole carpenter. And now they have a real room do-over next? WTH!
  10. I think the issue arose because the number of people in both families combined had grown and the grandparents had far fewer people to have for Sunday dinner. It’s clear to me they knew what they wanted but couldn’t figure out how the implement the changes they wanted. Ultimately, Nate and Jeremiah got the homeowners to sort out what they really wanted, I think the solution was excellent because the got rid of walls and got space incorporated that was being wasted. I love that house now with the simplified and coherent footprint.
  11. First off, neither Jeremiah nor the show ever said he was either “shunned” or “kicked out.” What he did say that while he knew they loved him they wouldn’t accept his being gay. He then explained in a later early episode (which was actually Hollywood Week) several months after his audition, the he (Jeremiah) didn’t feel that he could stay in that situation, implying that it wasn’t healthy, living in his parents house and working in his dad’s church and that he decided to move out and quit his janitor job. In the next round after that, Jeremiah said he had a new job (a music director at a different church) and had moved out, and that had improved the relationship with his parents. The implication had been all along was the issues had been with his parents. During Disney week his just recently married sister cam to visit on the tail end of her honeymoon (and Jeremiah was at the wedding). And Jeremiah mentioned in his meet the finalists package airing Monday night that his parents would be out for Queen week. It helps to search on YouTube for the WMAR interview with Jeremiah and his dad, and the Out.com interview posted online in late March to get a clearer view of what actually was going on. And one last point. The contracts contestants sign in these reality/competition shows all give producers free reign to use and edit what is recorded as they see fit. Unlike many other situations, the producers were attempting to fit his story in a stereotypical way that didn’t fit. That will be clearly evident in those interviews that I mentioned. Those were intended to get the whole story out and get the record straight. What you’ave seen on the show this past month is the producers mea culpa in getting it wrong.
  12. That was the following season as well.
  13. There’s no confirmation of the show using two episodes a week after Survivor ends, an hour a week would still have this season end in early July. Ratings. I did see something via a Google alert that TAR’s line plus 3 which includes everything shows TAR picked op 33% in the demo and total viewers. So the numbers for the premiere actual were in TAR 30’s range.
  14. The reason Heidi used her own photos was because these were from her extensive set of photos taken in Africa from her visits there, it wasn’t for any other reason. Given that the designers have time to prep for their segments there probably wouldn’t have been any time to use the images from the homeowner and have them ready for use, even if they were from Africa.
  15. The spoilers about the final leg came from observers and the Detroit Free Press, some of whom specifically identified the teams. Both confirmed the time gap of the departure time between the two departing teams from the last task, and that the third team was still at an earlier task at least two hours after those two teams departures from that last task and that team never made it to that last observed task, in fact it was being disassembled by then, clearest evidence that the first two teams checked in. Short of an actual observation of the final mat, the circumstantial evidence is pretty strong with nothing to support any other conclusion.
  16. They also included the group round performance of Jeremiah’s group, I’d have to replay the episode on Directv Now to catch the song. Edit: it was “Stop In the Name of Love.” (The Supremes). What was interesting is that Jeremiah took control of the rehearsal in short order and whipped the group song into shape in 30 minutes, using Jeremiah’s choir directing skills. I’ll have to disagree in some respects about this judging panel. Lionel has been a performer, songwriter, producer, and promoter for nearly 50 years, even as he just turned 70. Luke and Katy have been singer songwriters for long enough to know the business from the artist side. Perhaps they haven’t been harshly criticizing as Simon would have been. But Simon was ridiculous in his own way and trying to manipulate those who were voting or the performers. On the other hand, the all performer panels have been reasonably successful, especially after Simon, then Randy and Paula left. I would also agree that after the Kris Allen/Adam Lambert season 8, Idol only had one more great season, 15, with Trent Harmon, while it was still on FOX. in the ABC incarnation this season even at the Top 40, Top 20, Top 14 much less at the Top 10 has been among the strongest. Ryan and the judges may be right that this is their best group in the show’s history, but I didn’t stick around for long for some of those seasons including last season as I didn’t feel vested as I had been with Trent, and I just didn’t care. This season has been totally different.
  17. The Futon Critic is showing on its show listings page for TAR that it will begin airing at 8/7pm central beginning on May .29, the season’s sixth episode.
  18. I think we actually got the top 10 in America’s vote for the top 10. I wasn’t surprised the last three, who were the judges pick last week, were the bottom 3. I’m not sure why, but Alejandro vocals have not seemed as solid these last two week. Maybe it’s the limits of the song choices available, but he does seem off a tad. And Jeremiah’s dad did post on the Idol You Tube channel with the clip of his performance that apparently Jeremiah has been sick the last couple of days and had been on bed rest. Was his performance negatively affected in som way? Couldn’t say, but he did what I expected with covering that song. And I agree with Lionel.
  19. It looked to me during the task as time went on, the shelves began to look more empty, so my guess is that the shoes weren’t reused. Colin mentioned on his IG account that all the shoes were coated in a hard white candy, so I take from that that sanitation laws would have prevented a reuse of the shoes made with wood.
  20. There was one instance where Colin and Christie got a day ahead of the remaining teams, and lost much of the advantage because production wasn’t ready. Whether that’s the same instance I’m not entirely sure when it’s 15 years and this sort of thing isn’t in the episodes. Even with his meltdowns, they were spectacular racers and very innovative for the period of Race history.
  21. I see no reason to play favorites. Really thought homeowner George was hot, he looks like he could be out of Tyler Hoechlin (the Arrowverse’s Superman) family tree. Given the time, the concealed problems and the need to do a lot in a compressed time with that much space, I thought they did a really good job with that space. The only way Laura could have gotten a island in the kitchen would have been to push the entire rear wall out further into back yard, which would have been impossible in that little time. i wonder if the concealed missing joint bearing wood beams and rotten deck wood could have been an insurance claim against the previous sellers. Its hard to believe the pre-closing inspection didn’t find those problems.
  22. I was under the impression that the next episode involved twins, one of whom has Heidi to deal with. Way too much Heidi this season. on the Carter facial hair front, no mustache but his letting his facial hair grow out just a little, and there’s gray. Still no guide to when episodes were filmed.
  23. Actually, if you go to https://www.cbs.com/shows/amazing_race/ , the episodes are available there and on the CBS All-Access app. And it’s available on I-Tunes
  24. There were budget constraints that came into play as well, that led to the elimination of the 13th leg after season 12, the gradual elimination of fixed length pit stops, the bunching that now occurs on every leg at some point, neutralizing culminating leads, and all that was in order to avoid extending filming much beyond 21 to 23 days. Hence why self driving rarely occurs.
  25. I checked out the original performance of the song Jeremiah chose, and I could literally imagine how he’d adapt it for his performance with his vocal skills. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to do that before!
