TAR has never been a summer only staple. In almost every annual television cycle, TAR has aired twice yearly. As far as the tasks are concerned, it seems to me they were simplified for this episode to give the BB and Survivor teams a chance to adapt to traveling, and finding places, but one can easily argue that didn’t matter given at least some of those teams were still navigation challenged. (The only exception seems to be Rachel and Elyssa as Rachel had competed on TAR twice.

Actually there has been, once. The cousins from Sri Lanka. In that Survivor season, one of the cousins won. No originally TAR racer has ever been an houseguest.

It airs across al time zones and folks can vote from the time the show starts until the last commercial break. Since there’s no phone voting in the ABC iteration of Idol, the votes can be tallied from text, online and app voting really quickly and announced at the end of last commercial break.

It does help to listen to the performances with earbuds via streaming, as I do, than through television speakers. There is a difference in the sound quality and it seems as if that was a sound mixing issue in the live performances Monday night.

Colin and Christie both have IG pages and other social media. A look at his or her IG shows his hair is longer in the opening credits that it usually is these days. 😎

I really liked both rooms and that the designers were Heidi and Doug for those rooms is a big surprise! if the rooms were for pre-teens, it would be one thing, but I don’t have that impression. I like the philosophical elements Heidi used in the attic rooms. And arraigning the photo reproductions from less intense to more intense color was genius. Having the two houses now both having hanging furniture was a different twist. i loved Doug’s color scheme of the darker blues and purple, .i love darker shades, and especially purple. And Doug’s use of those colors throughout was well executed as far as I am concerned. This may have been Heidi’s calmest room ever on TS, same can essentially be said for Doug as well.

I will be ever grateful for the Directv Now recording feature starting this week. I will have a direct triple viewing conflict including Game of Thrones and Idol! Insane!

Roswell, New Mexico: In the Media
theschnauzers replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Roswell, New Mexico
I’ve suggested in other threads that this season has felt like a season long setup for future seasons. The show hadn’t been renewed when the bulk of the CW schedule was renewed because it had just begun airing. Of the 5 broadcast nets, it incorporates viewers on its apps more than the others (I suspect the CW goes to the live plus 30 data) as well as international viewing. It certainly is doing better among the demo than some of the other that have already been renewed. The big question is whether the show can handle more than 13 episodes in a season, production wise, especially with the looming loss of so many established CW shows. My guess too is renewal for possibly more than 13 episodes. -
If you’re curious about what Cyndi Lauper thought of the Jeremiah/Cynthia Erivo duet, she shared the American Idol video via her YT channel with the comment “Great Performance.” (She is familiar with Idol, having performed a duet of Time After Time on the Season 8 finale with Allison a decade ago.)

S31: Colin Guinn and Christie Woods (Life Partners)

Colin has been making fun about that on social media .... -
I’m not sure who you were referring to, but if it was Laine, there was an extenuating circumstance where he was put on the spot to sing something (wasn’t even 30 seconds) even though he was there to play guitar for his best friend’s sister who was auditioning after she had finished and had been sent through to Hollywood week. He hadn’t planned to audition. Lionel, Katy and Luke had other ideas and commented on how he had done everything they had suggested last season when he was cut at Final Judgment and they really wanted him to return this season. Getting to perform a far more complete version of “The Weight” as his duet was fair, since this time he had a chance to prepare. If you find his audition from last season online (I did) and compare, the all around improvement is obvious.

While You Were Out - General Discussion
theschnauzers replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in While You Were Out
On HGTV it may be like that, but on TLC, it’s out of the production budget. WYWO had a notably higher budget than TS in its earlier incarnation. Nate and Jeremiah By Design is sort of a blend. The homeowner provides the fund for the primary renovations being featured, but the show adds in something additional that the homeowner doesn’t know about that comes out of the show’s budget. -
To be fair, Jeremiah and his family began pushing back against the Idol edit a couple of weeks ago and was explored in an Out.com interview released two weeks ago, and the ABC local affiliate in Baltimore interviewed both Jeremiah and his pastor dad that same week as well. Idol is now trying to translate that angle into something a lot closer to the reality. All of those are posted online. And no, Jeremiah is definitely not “Broadway,” a label I find ironic, given it was used by Simon Cowell against Clay Aiken 15 seasons ago. And we know how that turned out. The judges have already compared Jeremiah to Billy Joel, James Taylor, and Jeff Buckley. Jeremiah was working two jobs at two different churches while he was still living at home, and he changed from the janitor job and got a different position with another church, where he would be accepted. He’s actually a music director at one church, and “administrative support” at the other. So he’s still working two jobs. Jeremiah was beginning his senior year of college as a vocal performance major at Towson State when the opportunity for Idol came along, and he deferred his last year. (The closest analogy for him is Clay Aiken, who also deferred his final year and returned to finish his degree while recording his first album, post-Idol.)

Speaking of Laine’s duet song, it is the exact song he performed on the spot at the Idaho audition and got a golden ticket. (Go back and look at the audition clip.)

They get the source material from a single outside source. When aa series is cancelled or preempted on short notice, the change may not show until a few days before.

I’ve wouldn’t have Uche go through either and would have swapped him for Bumbly, who I think did have a performance break through and would have benefited from a longer stay. i really feel Laine is coming on at least some. He did carry that duet, or Elle King let him lead intentionally, which he’s already able to do. Laine’s gonna have to keep up on the learning curve, though, and some of those performing tomorrow are ahead talent wise. And I wonder what the twist is that no one sees coming.

While You Were Out - General Discussion
theschnauzers replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in While You Were Out
In my defense I was typing that in the overnight hours and didn’t want to google everything. My point was that the north Georgia area is being used for everything just about, and as for some of the TS and WYWO episodes, I had lived in some of those places, but even I wouldn’t be able to tell you more precisely where so many subdivisions look the same! -
While You Were Out - General Discussion

First, even I was surprised that Rob Van Winkle even does design in addition to touring, but as soon I saw heard the name before “Vanilla Ice” was even mentioned I knew that much. WYWO managed to have the sent out homeowners return early on every episode of this short first season of the revamped format. Yes, that is a little odd to me. why so much Atlanta? Just as North Carolina killed off its film tax incentives, (Homeland filmed its first three seasons there) Georgia kicked theirs up, attracting Tyler Perry to set up a film studio facility in the former site of the Fort McPherson military base. It also attracted a number of films and TV series, off hand I can remember the Walking Dead, and I guess TLC and other Discovery channel are taking advantage of it. The McMansions were already all over the area while I still lived there (I had to leave 15+ years ago), it obviously got more widespread since then. as to the designs, I liked both. And actually I agreed with the one homeowner about adding French doors; the end result was actually much better. -
Regarding Jeremiah’s turtleneck, I think it had to do with the venue, the song and even the set design that was used. He does own at least one suit, he posted on social media concerning his sister’s wedding today, and he was in a snazzy suit and tie.

Not sure yet about any extras (clips, etc.) but All Access will have the full episodes on the app, and depending on which plan you pick you’ll have fewer or no commercials after the live episode airs, and the live episode will be the local station feed.
-
Yes it will be eligible as a majority of the episodes will air before May 31st.

If Ryan wasn’t seen during.Hollywood week, methinks he was working his day job in NYC (Kelly and Ryan). From what I gather, he no longer has an L.A. base.

Ask the Outlanders: Questions for the Bookreaders
theschnauzers replied to Athena's topic in Outlander
The only other option is to read the book summaries Diana prepared for the currently two volume Outlandish Companion. Volume 1 basically covers the first four books, and volume 2 the latter for books. There’s plenty of other useful content as well. -
I have the impression Carter knew well in advance what that first episode was going to involve and that he’d be doing a 70s house and decided to do the Burt Reynolds mustache look. I also bet he’ll be clean shaven by the time he’s next seen.
