S31: Spoilers (With Elimination Info)
theschnauzers replied to ApprenticeFan's topic in The Amazing Race
I'm not going to comment on whether a partner swap is coming or not -- I simply don't know. I'm still trying to understand what the "Extreme Roadblock" As to the format of this race, I've stated my belief, (also taking into account when this season is likely to air in the same way as season 30) that between the Laos and Vietnam legs, there would likely to have been both an NEL and a KOR , and this permits 4 legs between the two countries. There really is a lot of viewpoints about that, but front loading NELs/KORs this season would fit with the four double episodes that we saw in TAR 30, and leave more of the teams around longer. That would also fit in with having teams from Survivor and Big Brother for as long as possible in terms of audience. -

S31: Spoilers (With Elimination Info)

For Colin and Christie, this was probably the first time they were asked and felt they could leave their kids while filming. Do not underestimate this team. I've kept track of Colin on social media/internet since their season aired and he's been as active in his businesses as in his active lifestyle. They are clearly my sentimental favorites and I do see this as a redemption season for them. -

What is neat about Oskar's naming was whom that was for. It's been long enough (15 years) that some viewers wouldn't have known or couldn't remember, but Oskar was Nate's first partner who died in the Great Indian Ocean Tsunami of Christmas 2003. At the time Nate was a regular on Oprah's old syndicated daily show. It was one of the many heart-wrenching survivor stories of that catastrophic event, but one I'd never forget.

TLC has announced a renewal of the revived TS for season two (ten) for more than the eight episodes of season one (nine). I'm a bit cpnfused by the thread title for season nine, episode nine, as according to TLC the season finale is this Saturday, June 2nd, not June 9th. Is that June 9th episode from the classic series? -
DC will have to figure out timelines, as Kara is reunited with her mother and a portion of Krypton that survived and that might make interesting writing.

I suspect the visit is to Ian and Rachel, not by them, given the reference to downstairs.

Four more #Daily Lines excerpts Diana has posted. She has stated on social media that #BEES has reached critical mass, which I gather means she's now into the heavy writing of the remainder of #BEES. #DailyLines #Book9 #GoTELLTheBEESThatIAmGONE #William #DailyLines #GoTELLTheBEESThatIAmGONE #Book9 #JohnAndHal #BlackBrandy #BloodOfMartyrsisthenameofthebrandy #DailyLines #GoTELLThe BEESThatIHaveGONE #Book9 #NOitisntdone #longtimeyet #smallsniphere #IanAndRachel #DailyLines #GoTELLTheBEESThatIAmGONE #Book9 #DefinitelyNotDone #NowhereClose #GoingVERYWellThough #GoReadTheMethadoneList #minorspoiler #ClaireAndFanny #noitsnotatypo #mucousmembranesImean

There's also been some hints from RDM and the other writers than some material may essentially be switched between books; I gather these two books are most likely the possible subjects for moving material around for television.

S09.E04: A Surprise in the Truck

I loved both these rooms, and it was interesting to watch Nate and Jeremiah work separately in a different setup than on their show. Given that the houses are originally from the same era, it did make sense that some solutions were similar. Fixing the problem with the off center fireplace, and using things that were being unused elsewhere in each house is a classic TS way to say on the cash. Frank, I don’t know if he’ll be doing any rooms this season or not. It may be permanent or just this season, I’ve not seen anything. The recreation of the old photograph of the House was smart and definitely unique, so I like that. IIRC, Nate was more a clothing and furniture designer guy back when he was doing Oprah’s show a decade plus ago, and Jeremiah seems to more the interior space design background, but their skills complement each other well. I hope TS tries to get them back in another season; this was one of the most sane episodes TS has ever done. And it continues a streak of good rooms (except perhaps for the Newman Georgia episode where both sets of homeowners were not happy, but thr room were good though.) -
Enjoyed the episode tremendously although as someone with legal training, the courtroom scene made me cringe. But using the JNOV was right on target (pardon the pun). I was glad to see Colin back for a meatier appearance this time. And I will say this now. The writers have planted enough Easter eggs that I can see how CD can get to return as Tommy. If the writers over season could write Colton Hayes back as a regular for next season, Tommy could have several appearances as Colin’s Chicago Med filming schedule permits.....after all he made it twice this season.

Alec Newman has been cast in the role of Joseph Weymss, a character who appears in Drums of Autumn and later on in the books. Alec First came to my attention almost 20 years ago in the SYFY miniseries adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune series in 2000 and 2003 and is known as Toby Pullings in Fearless and Leon Tell in The Bastard Executioner. And he’s Scots born in Galsgow.

As far as I can tell, they raised the budget amount to $2000, and added the Wayfair buy corner, but otherwise are going to be constrained: but at least the amount isn’t ridiculously low. Although I suspect the increase didn’t make up for 17 years of inflation. Ty has calmed down and pairing him and Carter as the carpenters was good. Will be interesting as both will also be designing this season, if I understood correctly. tThe rooms nothing overwhelmed me, and nothing that can’t be adjusted later. Neither were perfect but neither were gawd-awful, either.

A Place To Call Home - General Discussion
theschnauzers replied to Meredith Quill's topic in A Place To Call Home
David Berry posted today on his Instagram account that he and James will return for the final chapter. IIIRC, there’s only one segment in the story arc of Outlander in the novel The Drums of Autumn that Lord John would likely appear, so there shouldn’t be much of an availablity issue between David’s two shows. -

I would assume that the Australian producers would have provided that answer if a character had been. Not having lived in the Australia of the 1950s, I would have no direct knowledge. I think the predominant hair style for men in that period was very short but not buzz cut, even in the U.S., which I am old enough to remember. Even police officers didn’t often have buzz cuts in that time, at least in the large metro area I grew up in....that became more common during and after the Vietnam conflict, possibly as a reaction to the counterculture’s affinity towards longer hair. I tried to google a search on this and didn’t really come up with anything. -

As best as I can recall none of the characters have been active duty military in any season. So that would be the obvious explanation. -
Name any other Starz series with such extensive source material. I can’t think of any, which is one reason why Outlander is breaking Starz’s mode. It’s decision to adapt the books with the budget that was required has paid off in eyeballs (of subscribers) for both Starz and Sony, as well as Starz’s new parent company, Lionsgate.
-
And don’t forget Starz can green light production of the various Lord John novellas if they need to, something else GoT didn’t have for HBO.
