  1. I'm 28 and I have no idea who Barbara Mandel is.
  2. I've been up for 36 hours straight, things get odd around 42, because around hour 30, you get a second wind, then it goes away around 38. But I was in a hospital room the entire time, so I wasn't doing anything rigorous
  3. In my part of NJ we have PreK-K (1 school), 1-4 (uhhhh like 5 or 7?), 5-6 (2), 7-8 (1), 9-12 (1). NJ has approx. 581 public school districts, they all have very different structures - every county has their own school district, too - they are usually county level magnet schools and vocational schools. Let me check this list to see how many HSes there are in NJ - there are 511 secondary schools in NJ, so let's go with the 590 figure on that page - there are 21 counties in NJ, something like 565 towns, so 586 school districts between the counties and towns - the rest are outliers. In NJ, we have a lot of <2 sq mi towns - these towns tend to have K-8 schools (Usually split K-5, 6-8 or K-6, 7-8), then they, along with all of the other tiny towns around them band together and have a regional high school - they sometimes have their own district, sometimes they are part of another district (Like Tenafly Public Schools in the case of Alpine) and then the LEA (Local educational agency, the district they live in, also called a sending district) pays tuition to the HS district (aka a receiving district).
  4. She did - I think they showed her near the end?
  5. ...I have never seen that. Where are you located? I am certified to teach in NJ, no gum allowed here. I was thinking they had gum in their mouths because this is some kid of weird charter school that is in some kind of weird trailer thing? and the teacher hadn't settled things down yet because parents are in the class for some reason, so the teacher may be hoping they are keeping control of their kids
  6. I can buy Brad Garrett's character showing kids Shawshank
  7. I've never seen the actor who plays Trevor before Good Place (well, nothing that I particularly remember him from, at least) - I enjoyed it. He was a bit grating by the end of this episode, but he was in just enough to not be super annoying
  8. At least acting up at the house showing makes sense - they were kids who recently lost their father, they aren't going to be perfect
  9. Yuuup. ADHD is a weird one, it occurs with a whole slew of disabilities
  10. I thought it was the end of the first week of school? They lived in Pittsburgh - I don't think they would've traveled 6 1/2 hours to look at a house they weren't seriously considering buying Can be as early as 2:15 for some high schools, especially in the suburbs - and as late as 3:45 for elementary. However, I believe they send the kids to a private school, so who knows what the hours are there, probably something like 8-3 plus or minus 30 minutes.
  11. Yes, but with Shaun, they are probably amplified.
  12. That might be it - definitely fits with Chidi. He probably wants something "perfect" for him to consider to be his big paper. Or maybe he is working on another degree.
  13. I believe they did not say who he ended up using - but I assumed it was the one he disliked/disliked him. I think with Lea, we are supposed to not hate either - Shaun has a history of abandonment and abuse in his childhood - he isn't used to someone just coming back after leaving (as far as I recall, he has not seen his parents since the night him and his brother ran away, and then his brother died and obviously did not return from that). It's something he needs therapy for, and something Lea needs to understand (Though she probably does not know about his abusive upbringing in detail)
  14. Alpine to Pittsburgh is 6 hr 25 min - https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Alpine,+New+Jersey/Pittsburgh,+Pennsylvania/
  15. I am guessing Rebecca and Miguel are somewhere within 2 hours of NYC then, but still, making a detour north to Alpine is a bit silly
  16. Come and join us in the minutiae topic, we love steeping ourselves in things like this
  17. https://tv.avclub.com/the-good-place-annotated-everything-is-bonzer-1829368497 AV Club is going to be having articles every week annotating the episodes
  18. That is what I was thinking the second we saw her in the episode.
  19. Yeah, seriously. They could just go to the NJ/NY/PA area, drive around for a week or two, to understand what the area is like. You don't drive from Pittsburgh for the day to go to a Broadway show... and you don't make a pit stop in Alpine, it is not on the way.
  20. So, Deja said the Philadelphia apartment that Randall and Beth bought is an hour away? It's 2 hours from Alpine to Philly.
  21. 1. Toby going off his meds is idiotic 2. I am surprised the doctor doesn't want to have Kate even try to lose some weight before starting hormones and everything - I imagine at that weight, every pound lost helps
