  1. You are correct; they didn't seem to know what "Mercado" meant (market) and were pronouncing it horribly but didn't seem to have the good sense to SHOW the clue to anyone they were asking directions from. Ay-yi-yi. I couldn't have been the only one hoping for a large truck to come barreling around a corner to take out Vinny while he and Amber were running around in the streets like maniacs, looking for their car, no? Oh, and my dude? Cut it with the "I'm the only one that speaks Spanish" shit, because that was *barely* Spanish you were speaking. Amber seems like she could be a lot, but MY GOD he's an asshole. The boyfriends, OTOH, are delightful. I particularly loved when Ricky fell down in the street in full costume and just rolled out of it and bounced back up like it was nothing. "I know how to fall!" Tuck and roll, Ricky...tuck and roll! I like that they're not your typical super-fit, alpha male team, but they just keep going, they keep their wits about them, they support each other, and they are having the time of their lives. I am Team Boyfriends all the way.
  2. They already [did] film in Vancouver. Drunk!Lawrence is everything. I fell out when he was singing The Wheels on the Bus when Todd and Margaret were dragging him down the hall. I'm bummed this show has been cancelled. It's so fun and quirky.
  3. Precisely. I was kind of stunned at Amber's hysterics at the thought of leaving Angie behind, too. She does realize that *Vinny* is her teammate, not Angie, right? Maybe she was over-emotional in the heat of the moment (or maybe I'm just a stone-cold bitch), but I thought her tears and hand-wringing were unwarranted. Give the lady a hint, a hug, and an encouraging pat on the back, then get the hell out of there and raaaaaaace. Sheesh.
  4. Yeah, my mouth literally fell open when she dismissed him with that curt "You can go now." I was going to say that it was like he was the hired help, but shit, Meredith, you shouldn't even talk that way to folks that work for you. Fuck that noise. #freeNick
  5. Same, unless they're speaking--thank goodness they have different accents!
  6. I have noticed that maneuver, too, and find it delightful! I will immediately integrate "the Krispin (c)" into my lexicon :)
  7. It's been so long since the S19 finale that I have no recollection of the Sam guy that died and was actually surprised to see Amelia, having forgotten that she was still on the show (it took me until someone else said it to remember her name). I don't know what that says about me OR the show! I seriously can't believe it took them what, 20 minutes to figure out that the best way to stop that car was to flatten the tires. I had said that to my husband 10 minutes earlier. They had firemen with sharp axes, RIGHT THERE. Sheesh. The best part of this episode was "I HAVE FIVE RULES." I can only remember one myself ("When I move, you move") but gimme a break, it was 20 years ago, and I couldn't even remember Amelia from 2 years ago :) ETA: @babyrambo, doin' the Lord's work for the rest of us slackers!
  8. I need to start using the phrase "Activate the Randomizer!" in casual conversation.
  9. Ironically, despite having worked in clinical trials for over 25 years, by the time Bev got on the train I had forgotten about her participation in a study! Traditionally, study patients needed to be within a reasonable distance of their study site so they could come in for follow-up visits to evaluate efficacy and safety per the study protocol and yes, get re-supplies of their medications. Commercial pharmacies only dispense marketed medication and only rarely are involved in clinical trials of marketed products for long-term safety or something (patients are given pharmacy cards to pay for their prescriptions as part of participation in the study). Experimental medications would never be available from your local Walgreens or whatever. During COVID, FDA did allow study sponsors to switch to Telehealth visits and for study medication to be sent to patients via traceable courier. The pandemic changed how we do a lot of things, so depending on the study design, it is technically possible that Bev would be able to continue participating...but in reality, a dementia patient who is completely itinerant with no support system would not be a great candidate, and it is not likely that study design would support something like that due to the risk to the patient. I wasn't paying very close attention, so I had to re-wind at one point because I was like "Hold up. Did she just say she's getting on that train to go off and die somewhere?!??" which she didn't per se, but... Yikes. I'm glad Jackie's tracking her, but dread the inevitable "Bev's been found dead in Little Rock" storyline.
  10. I thought the same. I know there are screens that the contestants see, at either side of the stage, but it looked like she was just staring at Miss Cowboy Boots expectantly, not having any sort of mental struggle to summon the name "Farrah Fawcett." [Side note: Rob's "Even *I* had that haircut at one time!" with the accompanying photo had me rolling.] I was super glad to see Miss Cowboy Boots go, though. She was working my last nerve.
  11. My favorite quote in the same vein is from the movie 10 Things I Hate About You: What is it with this chick? She have beer-flavored nipples? But that makes me wonder...if beer is off-limits for Mormon fundies, does that include beer-flavored nipples? And now I need to go bleach my brain. Sorry.
  12. OMG, the DRAMATICS from this guy! Michael, you're at an 11...I need you to dial it back to about a 4.
  13. That's a good one! I'd be interested in seeing how the show would translate it to the rapid-fire (primarily visual) clue structure.
  14. Well done! IIRC, we saw everything on your list last night except paper clips. I slept on setting the DVR for this, so I had no idea it continued from show to show. It's not like I was lost coming in at Ep 4; Handsome Rob Lowe certainly explains the structure and rules often enough. Handsome Rob Lowe AND random trivia? Shut up and take my money. I'm in. I found myself wondering what categories I'd ask for. I think about 30% of my brain is taken up with movie quotes, and I did indeed crush that category. 80's Teen Movies is a given. Boy Bands. Glee. Reality Shows is already on The Floor, so I'm looking forward to that one. I know a lot about Prescription Drugs (occupational hazard). Anatomy. Broadway Musicals. Musical Instruments. I know a lot of stupid shit, frankly. What's YOUR most random area of expertise??
  15. There are some spoilers for this season in that video (in case you're like me and enjoy the "DNA cousin" reveals), his dream guests include: Al Roker, Dolly Parton, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Johnny Mathis, Clint Eastwood, and Martin Scorcese. He also tells a story about how he used to do only African-American guests, and after 2 seasons he got a letter from a Jewish lady who asked him why he didn't do white people! So that might explain why his stories tend towards the African-American and Jewish experiences...
  16. My husband and I actually have done a lot of glassblowing (we made all of the favors for our wedding), so we would have CRUSHED that challenge...if we hadn't still been clinging to the outside of the Space Needle and sobbing hysterically, that is.
  17. My favorite part of the episode was when Corey and Todd (?) decided to work together to clear a path through the rickshaws...and then both of them wound up pushing the same rickshaw from a different end. Were they trying to...squash it between them? I mean, that's one way of getting it out of the way! :)
  18. He actually said "This is Michael, urr, Martin..." when Jean started his call. He tried to disguise his voice, too, but as he talked he slowly went back to his real voice. I didn't have any problem buying that Maureen would recognize him.
  19. Gary didn’t beat Daniel Gil; Daniel hit the water first, but he completed a couple more obstacles than Gary did, and got the W.
  20. Does that include viewers? Asking for a friend.
  21. Same. Did anyone else get a State Farm ad at the beginning? Coincidence, or synergy? Also, Loretta being offered a part on a Grey's Anatomy spinoff? Paging Jesse Williams (Tobert and Mabel are totes going to smash).
  22. Well if it is, then I just don’t want to be right. I literally SCREAMED when he went in. I was so hoping Gary would pull off another miracle run. I mean, I know the matchups were made based on seeding, but COME ON. Guy’s got one leg and he pulls Daniel Freaking Gil?? Argh.
  23. He and that Kai kid with the stupid hair were going so fast I barely had time to parse out how each obstacle worked.
  24. Fabio seems like a lovely person, and I’m sad to see him go. Can someone explain, though, why he frequently dresses like a house elf? I get it, the designers have their own aesthetics which are pretty out there to a normie like me, but I usually get what they’re going for. Fabio’s workroom schmattas are just *sad*. Dobby has more style, once he’s got Harry’s sock!
