  1. Here's a place to talk about past Big Brother players, especially those that were winners or especially controversial or big hits on the feeds. I'll start: I watched some of Maggie's season, but wasn't really a huge fan at that point, and so I get a little confused when people talk about that season. Why was Maggie good? Why were the other hamsters that season stupid? Was there any rigging? Discuss!
  2. I'd love to talk about previous seasons, especially things like Maggie (don't really remember what happened) and Dan and others- I didn't see a thread for it, so considering starting on. Let me know if there's one already that I just can't find?
  3. Do any of you listen to Rob C.'s Big Brother podcasts? I do, because I like the people he has on, and because I like hearing some of the discussion. But I am consistently annoyed by two things: 1) I'm not sure that Rob really understands strategy. I felt the same when listening to his Survivor podcasts. He seems to miss a lot of what happens, or to just really misinterpret it. I don't think this is me thinking I'm better than him - frequently, I am surprised by and impressed by the analysis I read on these boards, and he never comes anywhere near that level of really understanding the game. It's annoying, because I think that a guy who is making his living talking about reality shows should actually understand reality shows. 2) He is sexist. He never mentions a woman without mentioning her physical appearance. He does talk about how men look as well, but it's either in a "what is he wearing?" kind of way, or in a way that seems to be mocking gay men. Generally, his comments about women are about them needing to ride mens' coattails or using sex as a weapon or whatnot. I hate that he is this way. I really do enjoy hearing people like Ian talk about the current season and the game in general, but some of the stuff Rob C. says is like nails on a chalkboard to me. So, just wondering if any of y'all had any thoughts about it.
  4. (Quote from the episode thread) I think that's a huge part of Derrick's game. He speaks so quickly and in such a convoluted way that none of these houseguests are able to pick up on that fact that he's double-speaking and gas-lighting them. Instead of picking up on any of the details of what he's saying or any non-verbal cues he's giving off, they only hear the overriding message he's trying to send. It's been very effective for him, because most of these people are so self-centered (or just dumb or narcissistic or both) that they're not really paying attention to the subtle cues of the other houseguests. Even if they're trying to "read people", they are, on the whole, awful at it. Donny is the exception - he seems to have had a clue about Derrick from early on, but wasn't ever able to get a real alliance going, in part because of his personality and in part because of this stupid fucking twist. (Pardon my language, but I'm just so damn mad about the dual HOH situation.) Not to say that Derrick hasn't played a good game. I really do not like the guy, and I think this season has been mostly boring, but Derrick read this group of famewhore lemmings early on, and has played them like a guitar.
  5. I often enjoy the kiddie scene, certainly more than a lot of you guys, but even I have to say a big fat NO to kiddie camp karaoke. Too far. Is it really possible that this Maxie/ Levi wedding might actually not happen and/or some of this Levi stuff might actually be moving forward?? And people might really be getting wise to him and catching him in some of his BS?
  6. I cannot stand those pants. He and Bieber are the only people I've ever seen wear them, and I Do. Not. Understand. Oh, wait - maybe break dancers in the 80s wore them? Actually, the fashion choices of most of these men has been really irritating to me all season. The hats grate on my very last nerve, not only the crooked brightly colored ball caps, but also that stupid knit cap worn loose on the back of the head. Caleb's overalls and scarves-as-hats? That onesie they seem to have all worn? Zack's weird sweaters? All the black socks? Seriously, I do not understand - did no one tell them that they are on TV and we can see them? That boy..concerns me. Frankie is obviously a narcissist, but what in the world kind of disorder does Caleb have? Because all these delusions of grandeur are past the point of ordinary braggadocio. And he seems to have no idea that no one believes him.
  7. Exactly. Derrick has consistently acted in a very sexist manner - he never truly consults with women about strategy, and never wanted women in his alliance. He talks down to some of the women and seems not to respect them as individuals. Moreover, he comes across to me as seeing women as needing a man (usually him, but not always) to protect them, to calm them down, to put them in their place, and other similar sexist things. Sexism doesn't have to be as overt as "Hey, stupid woman, go make me a sandwich" - in fact, it often is much more subtle than that, and that is when it can be seriously harmful, because it's easier for people to deny it or blind themselves to it.
  8. Hilarious, and terrible. That is some Caleb-level delusional right there! I do not like Derrick at all, but I'm pretty sure he's smart enough to not take to final 2 anyone who has a chance of getting votes. He's smart enough to take Caleb or Victoria - people who I think no one on that jury would vote for, even if they hate Derrick.
  9. But isn't the fact that he has never been nominated an example of how good a game he is playing? Mind you, I don't care for Derrick, but I (begrudgingly) admit that it's pretty impressive that he's been running the house since week 3 or 4 and has not only never been nominated, but has never even been considered for nomination. But I also understand and agree with the argument that in a more aware/ intelligent/ competitive group of houseguests, he wouldn't be in this position. We'll never know, I guess.
  10. "Houseguests, what is the standard length of grass on playgrounds in the North Caroline public school systems?"
  11. Yessss. ANYTIME would be a good time to spring Johnny in my book.
  12. I wasn't watching feeds at the time, but was Dan's Funeral just a good edit? I always had the impress that it really was just a great move on his part. Unlike this whole "Frankie's Funeral" BS, which doesn't even make sense and is just Frankie stroking his own ego. So annoyed.
  13. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to call yourself a "mogul" of any kind - it's just bad manners. And how exactly does that "explain" why he was so heavily targeting Zach just a few days ago? Shut up, Frankie. And stop being stupid, everyone else. For a second there, when Derrick said "How would you feel if I told you I was...I was not who I said I am?", I really thought he was going to say "I'm a cop". That would have been pandemonium! These idiots would have forgotten they were ever mad at Frankie and just focused on that. ETA: Gaaahhh!!! He just called himself a "social media mogul" again, so it wasn't a slip of the tongue -he MEANT to say it. I hate him. Stop bragging about how many damn followers you have. How is that "eating your soul"?
  14. Hey, Carly and Sonny: Ava did not "move out of Sonny's house" - she ESCAPED. That whole conversation between Sonny and Morgan was rage-inducing. "Gimme a break here, Morgan"??? STFU. Morgan better not fall for any of Sonny's narcissistic blame shifting. Morgan's anger at Sonny has been one of the few nice things on this show, and he turns in to yet another Sonny-forgiving sheep, I am going to be so sad. Franco and Nina didn't really bother me? Is that possible?
  15. I thought she said that being evicted didn't mean they were going home, because they made jury. But I easily admit that I may be wrong due to me only paying 30% attention to what Julie says.
  16. Is it pretty and happy and full of rainbows and unicorns where you live? Caleb looks so ridiculous in that outfit. Derrick just brought up the possibility that evicted houseguests might be coming back. Gee, I wonder where he got that idea... (cough, DR, cough)
  17. Christine rubbing all over Cody right now is soooo awkward. That is not friend-rubbing. That is I-want-fuck-you-rubbing. I do like having all the hamsters in one room together for a bit. It's interesting.
  18. Just need to vent: Hey, CBS? When I pay for 4-camera live feeds, it really shouldn't be 4 camera views of the same scene. ETA: Also, enough of Frankie.
  19. Can there be a team america vote to make Frankie not talk for 24 hours? Or maybe even 24 minutes? I would also accept Christine shutting up for some period of time.
  20. I keep holding out hope that Victoria has a plan and is not 100% in Derrick's pocket. Despite all evidence to the contrary.
  21. I love Alexis, and I sure as hell love Alexis when she's with semi-naked Julian, but this is what pisses me off about her. She gets involved with these men knowing who and what they are, and then somehow who/ what they are is a deal breaker? Could be interesting, if the show explored that internal contradiction and let us see her struggling with why she falls for men that have some issue that, in her mind, will prevent her from ever really being *with* them. I mean - there is so much potential stuff to mine there! But, alas, this show gave up actually delving in to characters and their motivations a long time ago, and so instead we get "Yes! No! Yes! No!". It's sad.
  22. Thanks, @raidergirl3 - I couldn't tell when exactly Zach stopped searching. I wish he had given up early to let Donny win, foretelling a new alliance, but I'm not that lucky...
  23. Me neither! We're at jury, for pete's sake, and numbers are dwindling - why in the world are keeping this stupid-from-the-start twist? I was never a Hayden fan, so I'm not too broken up over him leaving. But he was a possible candidate to shake things up, and so on that front I'm sorry to see him go. Jocasta was always an easy eviction, so whatever. But what we're left with is pretty discouraging. The only hopes for excitement, as I see them: - Donny wins HOH, gets rid of either Derrick or Frankie - Nicole gets seriously fired up, and exposes Christine for the snake she is, although the power alliance can lose Christine and still be okay - Zach decides to side with Donny and Nicole, and they go on a collective HOH/ POV run - The non-power side of the house manages to swing Victoria to their side - Zach turns on Frankie, and just goes totally apeshit - this may not change the game, but might be fun to watch!
  24. I referenced this in the episode post, in case any of you notice some repetition, but wanted to ask here if anyone has heard anything about it on the feeds. It looked to me like Zach quit trying in the POV once Donny was 2nd, behind Zach. On the show, you could see Zach sitting on top of the ledge or whatever at the far end of his row as Donny won - how long had he been sitting there?? It may be nothing, but it may be that Zach wanted Donny to be able to save himself, and so took himself out of the comp once Donny was ahead of everyone else. That could be interesting going forward, I thought. Anyway - has anything been mentioned on the feeds about this? I'm watching, but doing about seventy-eleven things at the same time...
