  1. Yep, story hijinks as well. Someone from the family will be minding and moving the cheese regularly. Imagine I’ve paid a lot to rent the house (how many bedrooms?) and Sr. Cheese is around early morning. Naw, the family moves in—change of plans!—because the Marrs made it so bellisimo. Whatever.
  2. I liked them (and they liked each other). For reasons covered, they’ve been in France, or Europe, for awhile. Possibly in ugly house—quickly deconstructed. And yes, his concern about the noisy dogs felt confessional. 1. Watched an expat in France yesterday talking about various levels/details/costs of Healthcare there. The point was everyone could get care, but for some, not in Paris, waiting six months for a scan could be a disaster. (So is no scan for you, here.) 2. Adrian’s spiel felt completely “realtor dealing with expats.” Between her newsletter, website and YouTube videos, she’s always hustling. She definitely dialed it up here.
  3. Heh, yeah, but in this case, I'm afraid one of those bros claims to be a real estate guy (aka, appraiser in some realtors' minds).
  4. The actor who plays Toranaga is giving a masterclass.
  5. Parents found guilty of manslaughter. So not Jack’s depraved indifference murder. Someone at court mentioned that 10-15 was a lot at their age. More life/art.
  6. I’m following this season here, albeit watching a few verdicts. That’s primarily because Evan and Keith are the only team that doesn’t make me 🤮. Heres hoping the big finish is that they only win one—the one that counts. (Loved their room. The grout ding was bs. Shocked. LOL.)
  7. I can believe her getting an advanced copy. The BBC tanking it if she’d requested it? Not so much. I wondered how much Sam really had to do with this—a lot, turns out.
  8. She’s got great taste in clothes! The house reveal? Not as impressive, but they’ve been at her mother’s for such a long time, perhaps she hasn’t had a chance (2 jobs!) to style it yet.
  9. Good on them. I don’t have a desire to visit Laurel—or step foot in Mississippi—but I appreciated the care they took in recreating those rooms. This could have been a season finale, so glad to see there’s an all-new ep next week (assuming all new is legit, HGTV.)
  10. In an episode in which a helium-enhanced John Oliver told states to Fucking stop killing people, you fucking assholes, the photos with Ilgar will never be forgotten.
  11. One take—of too many—as the Times celebrates Curb. No paywall for you.
  12. None. Kind of stunning and no-shit at the same time. Good work, Mr. Sewell. But best work to Sam—her scene with Gillian’s character at the palace was my favorite moment.
  13. How good at this is Kish? I could tolerate Marcel. Wonders!
  14. My grandfather was born around the time of Michael’s, but in one of the Baltic states. Tsar’s army? No thanks! Came on his young man’s own, much of his family stayed, some surviving the next war, some not. I do think conscription was a major reason for many leaving, so it might have covered a few other reasons, as well.
  15. That was a dangerous situation, I’m surprised they didn’t swoop in.
  16. Where were the p.a.s to cleanup?
  17. I was hijacked by two Emma Thompson films (thanks, TCM), but I thought I saw them in Montepulciano, one of my favorite places to stay, so you get the idea of why I’d watch these goofballs—Tuscany. We drove by that marble area—if it’s the one Michelangelo used—see, Jenny, lotsa marble. Ei. The project is a goat rodeo, albeit not all their fault (long distance, Italy) with “friends” wanting to combine retail and hospitality and when will they be on site? Ratings and remodel hijinks.
  18. Since there are Valerie fans here—you might enjoy this WaPo article about Valerie and her new cookbook. Gifted if you’re not a subscriber. Here you go. eta: Mentions show cancellation, diets, other TV roles and, wait for it, Eddie and her MIL.
  19. He did. Crumb show—crumbs like Russian gangsters, dad’s early death, lone Wolfie, etc. Saves the writers from having to tell backstories. Also can get boring instead of intriguing.
  20. In his case, perhaps an overly large house was supposed to make up for other shortcomings.
  21. Lone wolf gonna lone wolf? 🤮
  22. Chet needs to gain a better personality. And for every whiny woman on this show, meet Chet. Ugh.
  23. Heh, Ferran’s idea. I make the one in Dorie’s Around My French Table” and agree, it would are a fine app. Otoh, the whatever Kev & Co. did that was chips and dip tasting!
