  1. I've always found facial hair (from 3 day stubble to full on rip van winkle!) on men divinely sexy so I love Paul's beard. On the other hand I'm not a fan of tattoos (on men or women) at all. I hope Paul hangs around for awhile as he's fun to watch and gives good diary room.
  2. I haven't been reading the boards much because this is truly the first season of RPDR (and I've been there since Season 1 when they still had absolutely flawless reunion shows) and we are at Snatch Game, for cryin' out loud!, and I am not feeling these gals at all. I don't do what I call 't.v. hate' anyone (well, Michelle Visage, of course but that's evergreen and maybe more because of the way she can get one What's the T? podcast with Ru that I still listen to now and again ) but absolutely don't love anyone either. I watch the show (and here in Canada we get 'Untucked' on tv right after the show airs) and yeah, it's just habit. I'm kind of tapping my foot and looking at my watch and waiting for 'All Stars 2' to start (this fall, right? ... and, it's still my dream to see Miss Alyssa Edwards crowned Queen of All Stars 2!) I don't care who wins but since someone must I'll pick Thorgy only because it would be like having Baby Jane Hudson win for Prom Queen and that's a groovy kind of thing!
  3. I watched the whole season in two sittings. I couldn't agree more, Ms Blue Jay That said, I thought he was equal parts funny and just horrible and anything with Andrea Martin automatically gets at least a full season of attention from me. I laughed out loud more than once and couldn't have agreed more with some of their 'observations' so I'm not sure what that says about me (no, I actually do).
  4. clanstarling, I was coming here to post about that. My heavens, but it must be exhausting to be in any kind of personal relationship with someone like that. I wonder, has Rayna ever looked into Al Anon? I guess not as she always has one of two expressions on her face when she's around "babe": either a look of confused befuddlement or sheen of Valium induced calm. The upcoming Layla/Juliette/Avery story line might be fun, though.
  5. millinnium, I couldn't agree with you more and was just about to come here to say pretty much the same thing but you said it so very, very well. The only thing is I'll always love Kate Bornstein (and I don't agree 100% with her, either) as I've been reading her for years and have seen many of her performance pieces and spoken work. I think she's terrific. Boylan, on the other hand, has always been a bit of a pill and quite fond of her own voice. Yeah, I have zero expectations that this trip will in any way change Cait's mind about anything. I'm just on the ride now for Kate B. and the others and to see just how big a hole Cait will dig herself into every week.
  6. John Travolta's performance in this show rates right up there with Patty Duke in Valley of the Dolls. Seldom do you ever see scenery chewed so exquisitely! I'm patiently waiting for the moment he bangs the courtroom table and says "Oh Robert, Robert, Robert .... ROBERT SHAPIRO!". I wasn't sure I was going to keep watching it after the first episode but I'm in all the way now. Some really excellent acting from Sarah Paulson, Courtney B. Vance and Robert Morse's Dominick Dunne is flawless! Also thought Connie Britton was fabulous as Faye Resnick. It made me wish they had made her character on Nashville more of a cutthroat Diva instead of Mother St. Rayna of The Grand Ole Opry.
  7. I forgot I could watch in on the west coast airing so I just saw it a few minutes ago. Typical non-apology 'apology' (the "I'm sorry if I offended anyone" as opposed to "what I said was wrong"). It was almost like she didn't even really recall what she said and her attitude was just this side of 'whatever'. She even ended it by saying that she didn't mean the comment for anyone watching but still meant it for the Real Housewife person she was talking about. Again: wow.
  8. Thanks Jaded and Medicine Crow. I had to change the channel after she said that and wasn't called on it (and I'm sure that like on The View they wear earpieces where the control room can talk to them), even by the producers. I'm glad they did, though, and she was made to look stupid(er). Did any of the other panelists say anything or did they just let Sharon ramble?
  9. When talking about that '_______ (fill in the blank) Housewifes' (I don't watch the shows and can't tell them apart when I see clips) person who just came out of prison and is doing the interview circuit did Sharon actually say that she (the housewife) shouldn't be complaining about the conditions of the prison and that "if she had been raped at least she would have had some enjoyment"? The reactions at the table were pretty shocked and horrified but nobody called her on it which ... wow. I hardly ever watch this show as I can't stand how they cattle prod the audience into responding to virtually every comment ("booooooo!" "yaaaaaay!" etc.) but every now and then tune in (like when Rosie was on).
  10. I'm in Canada so many things available on Amazon.com are not available on Amazon.ca . I know that 'Transparent' is available on 'Showmi' but I can't get that right now. I had assumed like most shows it would come out on DVD around the premiere of the latest season but I guess that's not what is happening with this show ... which seems odd to me. I wanted to see Season 2 so much I actually ended up watching it on my iPhone via ... well, let's just say 'somewhere else' online.
  11. I found this episode positively interminable. I mean, I figured John was the serial killer but the way it was shown (the how/why it happened) seemed just ... I don't know, I want to say 'stupid' but it's not quite what I mean. Listen, not that I'd have a better idea on how to move the story forward and towards some sort of conclusion at this point but ... I guess I was just disappointed . Evan Peters really is wonderful as March, though, and I hope his work gets, at the very least, an Emmy nomination (Mare Winningham, too).
  12. Yes. She is played by the great Gloria LeRoy who was arguably best known as 'Mildred "Boom Boom" Turner' on 'All in the Family'.
  13. Up until now I thought Gaga added a welcome 'otherworldly' sheen to the Countess and she still does, I suppose. This is really the first episode she's been called on to 'act' and she was pretty bad. I kept thinking that if a really good actress was playing this part it would have been so much better. Also, her make-up in the flashback was terrible as you could see they tried to blot out her real brows but it was still very obvious; she should have borrowed a glue stick from one of the queens from RuPaul's Drag Race. When Kathy Bates said to her that "I've never seen you scared before" I thought "Thanks for telling us, Kathy, as you sure couldn't tell by her expression or 'acting'." 'Dandy' as 'Valentino'? No. This was a very disappointing episode and other than the always welcome scenes with March & Evers ... bleh.
  14. I had mixed reactions to this episode and hope part two will fill in some gaps/holes in the storyline. Peformance-wise I think this is Evan Peter's best in the series so far. Really, really good and I wouldn't have expected this level of work from him (and I thought he was great in Season 2, especially). Mare Winningham just gets better every week and it truly feels she is really from that era. I think she'll be a shoo-in for an Emmy next year (be it regular or guest appearance). Still loving "Liz" but am getting impatient to hear her story. Maybe she was someone that GaGa met at Studio 54 who had a Liz/Cleopatra fetish. There was nothing I particularly hated but did miss seeing Kathy Bates. Oh, and Lily Rabe was, of course, suburb and Gaga looked divine.
  15. Jeepers creepers, I thought it was swell! I think GaGa lends that otherworldniess quality that the character needs. Is she a good/great actress? Who knows, maybe as the season progresses. I think she has an really unique presence though and looks magnificent all done up! I loved, loved, loved all the Mr. March and Miss Evers scenes. I agree that Evan Peters has never been better and, for me, Mare Winningham can do no wrong. "What a glorious stain" indeed! Still patiently and happily waiting to hear 'Liz Taylor's' story. As he seems to identify with 'Cleopatra' era Elizabeth Taylor I'm guessing he's been at the Hotel since the '60's. ETA: also, the music playing in an early scene with the vampires was Lakmé by Delibes that was memorably used in the film The Hunger.
  16. Yeah, it was ok and all. The hotel is gorgeous and Lady Gaga looks divine. I'll surely stick with it for awhile and then either love it or make myself stay with it to find out how it ends. My favourite character though is Liz. Denis O'Hare was flawless and I hope we get an episode All About Liz!
  17. I'm sorry to see Shirin leave this soon but it was inevitable. Varner really is a smug asshole and I can't wait to see what I hope to be his humiliating blindside.
  18. Thank you so much Dirtybubble for starting this thread! Season 7 has been such a disappointment for me that it's been hard to get past that and focus on some of the good things! Good Things: Ru Paul's Drag Race: even when I'm disappointed or 'mad' at the show I still thank God for Ru Paul Charles and his wonderful, wonderful show! Katya! Max and, to quote editorgrrl, his "transatlantic accent, granny hair, and esthetic". Katya! Violet (and I would never have thought I'd be saying this early in the season) and her flawless painting, fashions and confidence. Katya! The John Waters Challenge. Even though I didn't think it really 'worked' I'm still glad they tried. Also: John Waters!! Katya! Ross Mathews. I thought he was a perfect fit and I still laugh when I 'hear' him do his Morgan Freeman impression! ("Hi Miss Daaaaaaiiiiiissssyyyy!!") Katya! Pearl, and I think I like as many things about Pearl as I dislike. The likes? "Flahzaydah!", The Pearl Smash, The Pill Popping Mother in the Ru Paul Video challenge (seriously, I fell off the couch laughing!), the clunky way she does 'air quote' during her talking heads and the fact that she's be drawing 'Pearl' since she was a child. I've drawn all my life and have only drawn girls/women from my imagination (long, long story but I think it may be partially similar to Pearls so that really touched me and made me relate to her like nothing else) and her FACE! in the 'Dreaming' LSFYL! Absolutely the 'What's the T?" Ru/Michelle podcast (especially the last one). Fab! Katya! Just remembered that this is a positive thread so there's no need to list what I didn't like. I guess most of my other posts here on this forum for this season would list them anyway! p.s. KATYA!
  19. The funny thing is, even though I said I didn't like Spencer I did vote for him along with Kass. I knew they'd make great television together.
  20. This was certainly a roller coaster of a season and, let me tell you, the absolute saving grace was being able to read this forum (and listen to Rob's podcast). Thanks to all you wonderful folks out there in the dark! See you next September! Oh, one thing: I'm one of those folks that voted over on the CBS site for the Season 31 cast and ... I voted for Kass maybe 5 times? Honestly, I can't really explain it clearly but Kass really, really tickles me. I completely get why folks don't like her (to put it mildly!) but I think she's a riot. I don't know, maybe it was due to the fact that I couldn't stand Spencer or Tony and she really got under their skin or maybe it's because I'm pretty socially awkward myself. Who knows, you know? I guess she'll probably be voted out early or maybe some folks will see her as The Million Dollar Goat and take her to the final three (my hope!). Anyway, thanks again for the fantastic posts here, everyone!
  21. In the words of Margaret White: I was weak and backslidin'! Meaning, I caved and watched the show (Untucked, too!) last night. I wasn't that surprised that Kennedy was sashayed because the second she said "condone/d" in her speech I waved at the television and said "bye Felecia!". Also, I've long thought that this years crown was Ginger's to lose (even though I hoped and dreamed my darling Katya would win!) and I really can't imagine anyone else winning it at this point. Honestly though, of top three I'd choose Violet which I would never, ever had thought I would at the beginning of this season. I can (barely) remember what I was like at 22 but I know I had nowhere near the level of confidence as Violet and I really admire that. Also, I love her looks and of the two young queens she has more to offer than Pearl. Full disclosure: I 'hate' (in that very special reality glorified game show way) Ginger with a passion and would enjoy watching her lose. I will say this about Pearl, though. During the acting challenge she actually made me laugh out loud with her portrayal of the mother character. I thought she was really hysterically funny. The bottom line is I'll be happy to see the back rolls of this season!
  22. Well, for the first time in RPDR history I didn't even bother to watch 'Untucked' after the show was over (we get it on tv here in Canada right after the show as always). The has been the worst season ever for me and the only thing that kept me coming back was Katya. The fact that she was sent home tonight when the wholly unoriginal Kennedy gets to stay? Don't get it and don't want it (Kennedy, that is). It's not even that I honestly don't care who wins but I honestly have no interest whatsoever in watching what's left of this shitty, shitty season. I love this forum and all the folks who post here and hope to see you again for Season 8 which I hope against hope is a true, full season, NO PAIRS, All Stars! Bye, luvs!
  23. I've noticed that lately most of the posts I leave (and it hardly matters what show/thread it is, anymore) are pretty ... negative (I guess would be the 'nicest' way of putting it) so I've tried not to post that much anymore but ... what the hell: I used to absolutely love this show and, through good times and bad, Jackie. Over the past couple of seasons though my dislike of her lead to out-and-out 'hate'. I still love Edie Falco, of course, and think she is a phenomenally good actor but even watching her is not enough to take me out of my 'hate' for Jackie. Also, as a dedicated viewer, I really feel I'm being treated as a 'fool'. That TPTB feel that I'm just so 'charmed' by That Darn Jackie! that all I want desire is for her to come out of all this on top and be officially canonized as St. Jackie of All Saints once and for all. Bleh! I hate what they've done to Gloria and Zoey (refer to any/all posts in this thread/forum). I can't stand how Grace just gets away with any/everything. I can't stand Eddie (never liked him and, even though Edie has become 'Jackie' for me over the years and made me somewhat forget she was 'Carmella' I always see 'Father Phil' when I see Eddie). Again, I know that there are still five or six episodes left of the series and much can happen to 'wrap thing up' but ... the way things are going and the way TPTB have handled things thus far I've pretty much lost hope.
